A happy patron of the Table on the Green!

I have lived and eaten Thai food in Pinehurst NC, Seattle Wa, Chapel Hill NC, Winston Salem NC, and Roanoke Va and "The Table On The Green" has excellent Thai dishes. Service was great as well. We dined on Miso soup with shrimp and a side of rice, spring rolls and the wraps which were all delicious. Peggy~

I came in for lunch after a gruesome 9-hole venture at the luscious Midland Country Club. I did not have much of an appetite; I was in a terrible mood after snapping my 5 iron on the 7th hole after dropping one into a poor woman's sunroof. That being said, I ordered a small pad thai with a banana on the side. I quietly waited as my food was being prepared. After a mediocre 30 minute wait it arrived. The pad thai was decent, but it did not seem as though this was prepared by a true Thai tongue. Remember the banana I got on the side? Yeah... the picture I attached serves more justice than my words.

Great Thai and American food. Pad Thai is especially good and can be made to order very spicy.

However, if you need to eat gluten-free due to a medical condition like Celiac disease, please be very, very cautious. Although this establishment claims to offer gluten-free options, there seems to be a concerning lack of understanding of what "gluten-free" actually requires. I asked detailed questions before ordering and was assured that my selection was safe. After the food arrived--and after I had already started eating--I was then informed that while the crepe itself was gluten-free, the filling was not. That kind of distinction should be clearly communicated upfront, especially when a customer specifically asks about gluten-free options. Unfortunately, the same situation happened with my daughter, who also has celiac. To make matters worse, we were charged for both the incorrect meals and the replacements. In hindsight, I should have asked for a manager, but we were there to visit with a friend and I didn't want to make a scene. Our total for three people ended up being over $80 with the tip I still left. I understand that eating out always carries risk when you have dietary restrictions, and I ALWAYS try to approach it with patience and kindness. We were traveling, so we didn't have much choice. But if a restaurant says they offer gluten-free items, there needs to be a basic understanding (by the wait staff AND the kitchen cooks) of ingredients and clear communication. What should have been a fun outing turned into a weekend of being very sick. Just something to be aware of if you have to eat gluten-free for health reasons - this is probably not the spot for you.
