Best brunch I ever had! Got the California melt. A open face piece of perfection with the most profound flavors to slap my tastebuds. The bread it was on was the perfect crispness like a cool fall morning! The avocado spread on there was the complementing component much like the jelly to a peanut butter or cheese to the perfect wine! Been coming to Midland bistro for about seven years. I wish I had reviewed midland bistro when it was really good because it was(4 stars). It isn't anymore. The past few times I've gone, The service was lagging and the food was smaller portions. Some items seemed cold in certain sections as if warmed up in a microwave. Today took the cake. One hour of waiting. Had to get the attention of the waitress and ask if there was a problem. People were coming in behind me eating and leaving. She said the kitchen got swamped and my order got lost. I understand that can happen, but you need to keep the customer informed. I asked if the order has been started she said no. I canceled my order and left. The bacon they serve is precooked microwave bacon and the soup comes in a bag. What surprised me is that the soup is voted best in the county. Oh well. Almost all of the sandwiches have a garlic aioli and my husband can't handle garlic (I got it on the side so I could add it to my sandwich myself, and it was very garlic-y). We went here for brunch on Labor Day while visiting Southern Pines/Pinehurst. The Croque sandwich was what both of we're sold on when picking out a restaurant. With Canadian bacon, different cheeses, an English muffin, and an egg on top, it was an easy choice. And so delicious! Unfortunately, they were out of home fries but the fresh fruit was good. Our waitress was very sweet and i really like how the place was decorated. The patio would have been nice to sit at if there had been more tables, but it's also a small bistro so we will just have to come back! Service was a little slow but they were also pretty steady, to be fair. If you're in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area, this is definitely a cute place for brunch---also, they have bottomless mimosas. If you need a push. read more

Staff are cheerful and friendly. Food is very good. Hubby had the country eggs Benedict and practically wiped the plate clean. He said their hollandaise is almost as good as mine! I had the their version of the croque and it was delicious! Super rich and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfasts come with rosemary potatoes or fruit. Our first time here and it won't be our last! I am hesitant to give two stars in my reviews, but in this particular case Midland Bistro deserves two stars. I'm going to review both the service, and the quality of the product that I ordered. I'm a full-time remote worker. It keeps me out of the D.C. rat race and I get to live and work on a golf course year round. That's a pretty good deal, right? That said, sometimes I get back-to-back virtual meetings that run long and I start jonesing for lunch with not a whole lot of time between those meetings. Today being one of those days I called into Midland Bistro which is right down the street and ordered their Trio Fromage grilled cheese sandwich to be picked up. "Give us ten minutes" they said, and I'd be able to drop by, pick it up and head back to my meeting. I gave that ten minutes, and then 15 minutes more while I cooled my heels clothed in my best best work from home garb. I finally approached the counter for a second time to ask them to go check on the order, which they then duly brought out from the kitchen. I paid for my sandwich and before I left I (in my most non-karen/ken voice) said that the wait had left me with almost no time to get home and have a quick lunch, and that was about as far as I got. "I'm not the one who took your order" and "It's just a guesstimate", and "we can't really tell how long it will take" all while smiling at me and telling (while not telling) me me to have a good day. I went back to the house to try and salvage at least a couple of moments to have a bite to eat. Then I got home, opened the sandwich and there it sat, a sandwich whose bread was just ever so slightly grilled on both sides. The sandwich wasn't completely done, the cheese in the middle still not melted. I don't know how that happens that some of the cheese melts but the bread isn't grilled like any normal, reasonable person would expect of a grilled cheese sandwich. I can get over the sandwich. I can pop it in the oven at 400 degrees for a few minutes and it will be fine. What ticks me off more than anything though was how sincerely unconcerned was the one person who, in my eyes, represented all of Midland Bistro, was of my time. Midland Bistro is close to home for me. The food has been good enough to have me return, but today--especially as there were very few customers in the dining room, I just don't understand the need to be so dismissive of my time. read more

Oh this place! The quaint spot is a delicious spot for brunch/lunch. Daily specials are unique and different. Lucky for us, the soup of the day was their Thai Chicken and Rice. I was completely surprised when it was the most delicious curry style soup I've ever had. I only had a cup and wish I had gotten a bowl (and a pint to go!!) paired with a side salad, the apple cider vinaigrette was beyond delicious. The rest of the menu had amazing sandwiches and other lunch style options. The ambiance was quaint- a smaller spot, probably had about 15-20 tables, we had no wait and food came hot and fast! I rarely leave reviews. I have worked in the service industry for over 15 years and this is hands down one of the most incredible restaurant in area. Not only is the food fresh and farm to table, but the staff is attentive and friendly. The Reuben is to DIE FOR. I can't even begin to describe how excellent the desserts are. They have the most adorable trendy bracelets that are made by a young local artist. They are open for breakfast/lunch and highly suggest the bottomless mimosa. This place used to be stellar. It was like a small French snug-in, where you just wanted to stay. Then you wanted to return. But it changed owners. It changed in other ways, too, and not for the better. My wife and I were recently there. We had been going there for years. The seats at the table we chose were full of food scraps. I asked the lady that waited on us to clean the chair next to me because it was disgusting to have to look at the mess. She said, "sure, I'll do that for 'you.'" For me? It should have been for her job, or for the success of the business. Rather, I should never have had to ask. The customer should never have to ask for seats to be cleaned of food. Anyway, she never cleaned the seat. I did, however, succeed in getting another wait person to help. Apart from the lack of cleanliness, my wife says the quiche was good. But the "home fries" we both ordered were limp, as if the air went out of the things. Awful. And the crabcake sandwich I ordered came without a top to its bun. Today I'm giving them 2 stars. Over the past months I feel that the staff and food have become complacent. I used to look forward to coming here but it doesn't seem to be anything special anymore. They are open until 2 on Saturday but change the menu at 1130 so you can't get eggs Benedict or brunch. So I stayed & settled on BLT... it was so boring! The concept of "toasted" is lost on the cook and she tried 2x but. come on now... toasted bread is brown not white. Just bc u put it IN the toaster doesn't mean it's toasted! The bread was thicker than what was on the sandwich so I'm really disappointed..... I'll try one more time after this visit but they are 2 for 2 and if this is the new norm, I'll just keep it moving. read more

I picked Midland Bistro and could not have made a better choice. This is an adorable little restaurant with great food and a wonderful staff. The table ordered the a couple of chicken & waffles with spicy honey ($10.00), a breakfast sandwich with sausage ($8.50), blueberry & lemon waffle with sausage ($11.50) and a Croque sandwich ($8.50.)
