Chuckwagon is a very unique experience loved by the locals. Prices are reasonable. Menu has enough variety to please the whole family. With this being my first time to my husband's childhood favorite spot, I went for a chuckwagon with cheese, onions, and mustard. They forgot the cheese, but it was pretty delicious. I'm a fan of fried food, and this chuckwagon is a fried burger. Fried. Burger. We also tried the fries (crinkle cut and a very hearty portion), cheese sticks, and corndogs. All fried and delicious. There are other items available (not fried, lighter fare) such as soups and salads. We're gonna split the banana puddin' once we take a break from this mountain of food we couldn't finish.

I thought hot dogs were relegated to the fridge and served only to kids. Not here. From the freezer to the fryer you can get your monthly supply of golden saturated breading in a sitting. I feel gross right now. Not fresh. Chick wagon also describes how the food is chucked on the plates. Slaw is plain, only green cabbage. the taste is good, but is there not another veggie for this? Fries our like the Orieda crinkle cuts. spongy and gross. dont we grow potatoes in this state? The BBQ was over flavored. I would prefer to vinegarize mine to taste.

Seat yourself setup, but plenty of seating available. Our server, Madison, was at the table in under a minute with menus, and food came out in less than 12 minutes. She was efficient and attentive without making us feel rushed. This is a gastropub, meaning a casual bar-style restaurant that puts more focus on food quality than a typical bar menu. The space reflects that. Mix of standard tables with chairs, booths, and a small lounge area with cushioned chairs and a sofa. He ordered the Reuben, I had the pulled pork with collards. Prices were reasonable at $12 for the pork and $13.50 for the Reuben, each with one side. We both wanted the cucumber tomato salad, but they were out. The pulled pork came with a red, vinegar-leaning sauce. Not sweet and not strictly Lexington style, more of a house take on North Carolina barbecue. Still flavorful and satisfying. The collards were good with small bits of bacon that added flavor without overpowering. The Reuben was decent, but the toasted brioche bun stood out. Good texture and held everything together the way it should. The pasta side was fine, nothing memorable. Total bill came to $27.26. We both stuck with water, which keeps things simple and keeps the cost down. Overall, a solid stop for a quick, easy lunch. Nothing over the top, but everything came together the way it should. Must order: Pulled pork with collards Heads up: Sides may run out, have a backup in mind

The flavor was good but not earth shattering. If you aren't a brisket snob, you'll love this place! The bar aspect of this restaurant was really cool looking. We went at an off time and there were a good many people there. Service was pretty slow and not attentive.

Good experience. Definitely try this place…read more Plan for 2 hours. Not a negative or positive- just an observation. Bottle of wine, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts = $175 not including tip. Complimentary biscuits were not fully cooked - still doughy. Waitstaff said they were "waiting for the biscuits to cook" - totally understandable, but wait 3 more minutes so you don't serve uncooked dough. This is a time management thing for the kitchen: 5:00 reservations = put biscuits in the oven no later than 4:40. Escargot was good. Disappointed that our dirty/empty appetizer plates stayed all over the table so long. This is the difference between "fine dining" & a typical restaurant. Utensils used for appetizers should be removed & replaced for main meal. Just another little detail that sets apart "price is worth it" & "why'd I pay that much?" Steak frites were good. Lamb was good. Desserts were good. Cacao nibs were entirely too hard - I thought I was eating pieces of nut shells. Not enjoyable. Waitress was very friendly, but we did get the feeling that we weren't regulars, so it was ok to not pay attention to us (like remove dirty dishes).
