Really enjoyed my meal at Beefeaters. I got the 24 oz prime rib and it was excellent. Super tender, cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was on point. It had a great flavor without being overly seasoned. Huge portion too. Definitely one of the better prime ribs I've had. I'll be back for sure. read more

I've eaten here several times the food and the service is excellent. I highly recommend the blacken pork sandwich not sure where they get their pork but it's very tender and tasty. I am in the process of moving to Souther Pines from California. This place is one of the restaurants I am looking forward to.. The decor is old school, leather booths, dark bar. I've never eaten in the main dining room, but sitting in the lounge area is very comfortable. definitely caters to the locals but everyone there is very friendly. Great place to stop by and have a drink after your round of golf and if you don't with the crowds in Pinehurst.. Ciao Sean read more

Things that were great: prices, wait staff, cheese served with crackers as an app. Our waitress was great, got rib eye and filets. Love that you get extras that you can add to your salad at no extra cost. Steaks were over. Wasn't a deal breaker for me but would've liked the closer to medium as requested. Tried the skillet corn which was over seasoned and not what we expected. Broccoli was overly steamed. Forgot to take pics, bummer. read more

The food was very good but the experience wasn't quite what I was expecting for a restaurant voted best of the pines for many years in a row. It started when we checked in. I had made reservations online and mentioned it was my husband's birthday. I never expect anything of this but usually mention it. Well we check in and the hostess made a point to mention it and said they wouldn't embarrass him but we could expect a "sweet treat". There was no sweet treat so it's a bit odd they would bring it up. Our waitress took care of us right away and got us drinks immediately and took our orders. We ordered the 8oz filet, 11oz ribeye, and mushrooms. The food was delicious, very tasty. However, my husband and I purchase and cook steak quite often and I'd be hard pressed to say he actually received an 8oz steak pre-cook. It was more petite for sure. My ribeye was amazing but I was surprised to see that it was thin cut because I would expect a thick cut steak from a steakhouse. We also never received our mushrooms but after dropping our food, we didn't see our waitress again for about 30 minutes so we were finished eating by the time she came back and never had a chance to ask for them. We paid with a gift card we received for Christmas and had enough leftover to leave a pretty nice tip but were informed afterwards that Beefeaters doesn't accept tips on gift cards. This left a bad taste in my mouth because this was a gift card that was purchased and the money should be able to be used in any way as Beefeaters has already collected it. I assume the tactic is to get you to return and spend more money but there wasn't quite enough left on it for a full meal and we are a coupe with young toddlers so getting a chance to get out of the house for date night is a rare occurrence and we weren't likely to be able to return soon. Again, the food was delicious and I can see why they received the best steakhouse in the pines for taste, but I was a bit thrown off by the experience otherwise. read more

After speaking to the owner about poor experience a week ago, they deserve an updated review. Wil went out of his way to listen, and discuss ways to improve upon the experience. He explained that they process their own servings from primal cuts, and an 18oz serving cut off a 20# primal is going to be thinner than the same serving from a 12# primal. We discussed that individual cuts perhaps should be used according to the temperature ordered- Wil was responsive and seem dedicated to providing a first class dining experience. The open communication and effort will keep me coming back. read more

Certainly a very reputable and reasonably priced long-term establishment. The good was the food was okay. The server was extremely friendly. They had a diverse menu. Their dessert special which we thoroughly enjoyed and would give 5 stars was the coconut crème pie. Absolutely delicious. I would order a full pie for company at our house. ...Unfortunately the negatives are ambiance as #1. Extremely dated and over the top tired with very low ceilings. The bar area close to the bathroom had a slight smell from the rest rooms. The French Onion Soup was not the worst I have had, but certainly something I would never order again. Very little taste to the broth. Mine at home is significantly better and more flavorful. The salads were too cold and slightly overdressed. The steaks which are their specialty were priced the same as Outback but honestly a tad below their level of quality. Again, not bad, but nothing to write home about. Would I return? Maybe, but I know what I am getting. Still, the place was very busy and apparently a welcoming spot for returning customers., read more

I've ordered takeout steaks twice and both times the meals were excellent! Steak was cooked perfectly to my request. Steamed broccoli was delicious and crisp. I love the small rolls that accompanied the meal. Salad was the best with lots of veggies in addition to greens. (Most restaurants send lettuce when one orders a salad.) Their ranch dressing is so good! To top it off I ordered a slice of pecan pie. It was huge and came with a full cup of ice cream that tasted like it was homemade! Yum! I don't cook much so I frequently order from various restaurants. I'll be ordering from Beefeaters frequently! I ordered online and it was ready exactly when it was stated. I walked in, was greeted by a very friendly person, didn't wait 5 seconds, picked it up and walked out!! Best service ever! read more

locally owned and managed. first time to revisit in approx10 years. they did not disappoint. popular with the locals as well as small golf groups. extensive menu. we ordered the New York strip and the filet. they were cooked to perfection. this is a steak house....stick with steaks! prices were very reasonable. although they were full on a Tuesday night, the busy staff handled it well. I suspect you would need reservations on the weekend. glad to see they were doing so well after the passage of time. you don't find that everywhere. read more

How comforting and relaxing when you are with a large group (10) that the sever actually listens to your request for a slice of RARE Prime Rib offering a 10 or 15 ounce plating. Well little buddies this Beefeaters in Southern Pines NC has your number. Tender, sweet, softly seasoned, tender red prime served with whipped garlic potatoes and steamed Asparagus spears was the overall hit of our long table. Every one made their selections but I stuck with the house specialty. One of the guests said "George hit a four bagger with his entree". No kidding cowboy & I never shared a morsel with even my dear wife. She ordered a seafood entree at a Beef Joint! Give me a break please! Their opening appetizers were delish - Crispy fried calamari with a delish dipping side. Some kind of steamed mussel concoction with tons of fresh garlic and baskets of oven hot baked goods for sopping up all those lovely sauces the Chef prepped. The multi rooms were paced with Pinehurst Ladies Club groups & 3 day golf package gatherings. All in all our server actually managed to keep peace in the valley with shire will power! Kudos to our gal!! They also serve up a great Manhattan! read more

Very good prime rib and potatoes! Nice ambiance, comfortable southern BBQ bar and dining.

We just left. I'll save you the details but my advice is to just go to Southern Prime and spend a few more dollars but have a good meal. If you do go in, I hope you sit beside someone that worked there in the past (and the waitress recognizes) because you'll find out all the details about the specials and what looks good and on and on and on. Of course, we got none of that when we ordered 20 min before. With us, it was basically..."Ok, what will you have?" We've been our one and only time. read more

Awful! Glad we did not eat here. Hostess did not get up when we walked in. She was too busy on her phone. Lazily said bar is first come first served. Went to bar and seats were reserved. No one could figure out if there was a table open. It smelled really bad in there so glad we left!! I almost forgot to add theres a big ik-factor. Looks like it hasn't changed, or been cleaned since 1970. read more

We have been to Beefeaters many times over the years and have always been happy with the quality and quantity of the meals. We went again this evening and the food was excellent. Will, I wanted to give you another chance, so tonight I had the 10 oz Ribeye, it was delicious cooked just the way it is supposed to be. By the way there is nothing better than having an owner that is passionate about his food, I met him when I came in and he is passionate! Well done! read more

I love this place. Great food and good service. Definitely a hidden gem. Parents came here in the eighties. New ownership but hasn't skipped a beat. To top it off when I came out to go home my car had a flat tire. It was closing time. I was going to have to wait 30 minutes for a cab. Instead the owner (Will) gave us a ride home. Talk about customer service. We go there about once a week and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend read more

Came here because a long time ago this was a REAL steak house.. I brought a party of 12 to celebrate a birthday. Salmon bites are the only item I can endorse. The beef was no better than a Western Sizler. When the server took time off from flirting with drunks golfers, her attention to any sort of detail was missing. Long story short, skip this old shack... read more

The food is always great, I have never had anything bad in over 30 visits or more. The service is always on point. If you want it to be a little quieter, sit in the dinning room side. Went for a special occasion dinner. Had reservations for four people. We were on time and were seated promptly. Nice atmosphere. Classic steakhouse vibe. A little dark, lots of wood. We had made a couple of special requests, and we saw they had been seen to. Service was well beyond par. Friendly, attentive, without being too over the top. Nice menu. Fair prices. French onion soup: handmade correctly. Excellent. 12 oz ribeye: excellent cut of meat, seasoned a but too much with salt and not much pepper, but that's a personal taste. Still, a good steak. Mashed taters and asparagus were as to be expected. Others had the steak medallions. Some felt there was a heavy hand with the salt shaker somewhere in the kitchen, but no real complaints. Wine list was excellent. A special bottle was brought in and the corkage was reasonable. Dessert menu left quite a bit to be desired. I didn't see anything on par with the rest of the meal. Was it the best steak I've ever had? No. But I've had some pretty darn great steaks. For me, top tier service can make up for minor imperfections from the kitchen, and that rang true for this meal. We'll be back. read more

Food was amazing. But service was really bad. And they don't do free refills anymore on drinks like tea and soda. They actually charge you for every refill. We went to the front to pay and as we were walking out the waitress went to the front and ask how much did we tip. Like wait till we leave then ask. read more

We recently moved to this area, but we first tried Beefeaters about a year ago. It was...okay, and there were other options, so we didn't come back...until last week. So glad we did! Apparently, the place changed ownership about six months ago and you can really tell the difference! It's your basic old-school steakhouse, just done really well. They have great streaks, amazing sides, and even a HUGE salad bar! Hubby and I shared the prime rib sandwich, which really was a slice of prime rib (unlike some other places). Garlic mashed redskins had the right amount of garlic, and Southern green beans were on point. Great service and a fair price. If you're looking for a real steakhouse, this is it! read more

Place was great and worthy of 5 stars. We attended the US open in Pinehurst and googled up this place. The reviews looked good so we figured we would give it a shot. Walking in the place has a nostalgic feel, it's very original looking and I love places like that...I love old feel places. We decided to sit at the bar, where we were greeted by the nicest bartender. She really made us feel welcomed...She was very friendly and very on point. She was always around when we needed another drink. We pretty much only had apps, but every app we ordered was stellar. The prices are very fair and the portions are great. The owner came out to talk to us to make sure everything was good. He was a very nice guy and we had great conversations about golf. If I'm ever back in Pinehurst area, this will be the first spot on my list. Thanks! read more

Love the steaks at Beefeaters. Absolutely delicious. The sides are equally delicious .

The prime rib was very flavorless, the mashed potatoes weren't great and the salad bar was well... let me put it this way "the 90's called and they want it back". I had to salt and pepper the heck out of it. The service was terrible but I will say I don't think it was the waitress's fault, one woman to take care of the whole bar room was crazy. I can't believe people gave this place that good of reviews. I have had much better prime rib, heck Longhorns is better for less money. Update: We went back to give it another shot. Staff was great but prime rib was actually worse than before. The prime rib was so tough that everyone in our party had to spit quite a bit of it out because you couldn't chew it up. I have eaten prime rib many places and this was the worst by far. We will not be going back for 32 dollar prime rib that isn't edible. read more

The food is great but the service is cold. I was looking forward to the meal but the service really ruined our experience.

The food is always good. The night we were there they were very busy so service was s bit slow. I have to say I always know my meal will be good, the only issue I have is with the size of the mixed drinks, they remind me of a bar from the 70's. They may be the same glasses. read more

The service as quick and polite. The people are the gem at this place. The clientele are markedly aged. Young families might not feel comfortable. The dining area is dark and there is an mild stale smell in the air. There is a salad bar that is highlighted by the wait staff. It has many options. But I'm not sure salad bars are in vogue these days. Perhaps they were in the 80s. That's a good way to sum my impression- this place is stuck in the 80s. I could overlook all of that if the steak was worthy, but it was not. My ribeye was thin (about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch) so it ended up over cooked. The seasoning was non existent. The side dishes were unremarkable. The wine selection was adequate and our selections (Pinot noir and a Cab) were delightful. We feel no need to return. It needs an internal makeover and the menu needs a makeover as well. read more

Placed a to go order here and it was ready very quickly. The hostesses was very friendly. I ordered the salmon bites and mashed potatoes. I really don't understand the love for this place. After a last minute change of plans on our anniversary, we were left scrambling to find a place we could get reservations of a Friday night to day of. Called about 6 other places and no luck. Finally resigned to try here (was disappointed last time) because my husband really wanted to go out and hates waiting. I heard that there may have been a change of ownership and improvements made so despite my hesitancy, I took a gamble. Got a 5:30 reservation (should have been a red flag!). We arrived and were seated promptly. Staff was very sweet but was surprised to see servers in ripped jeans. Our server Connie was very efficient and nice overall and the only reason we are giving this review a 1. Our daughter got the chicken (weird flavor--we all tasted it and found it odd in a not good way) and baked potato. "Butter" that came on the side was whipped fake stuff you get for pancakes at the Waffle House and came in a plastic to go cup--just like the Waffle House. Husband got the full rack of ribs which was a huge portion. Meat was tender but they were drenched with a sauce that was so sweet that he only ate a few and decided to bring the rest home to "wash them off" and left hungry. My catfish was the best thing of the entire meal but honestly, the entire meal was a bummer. This is NOT fine dining despite the price tag--not even close. The deco is drab and depressing, there is no music, food is mediocre at best and again, those plastic cups of dressing/butter are just tacky. There are so many much better places to go in town, I highly recommend you skip this place. read more
