I wanted to like this place before I walked in. I heard some good things, so your experience may differ. For me, it was not as good an experience. I like my BBQ eastern style, as in chopped with a vinegar type sauce. This was more western NC style, as in pulled, with a tomato type sauce. Frankly, I wasn't thrilled with the food quality, the slaw was decent, but the hushpuppies weren't so great and my partners brisket wasn't good to me, and I lived in Texas and have had all types of brisket. Also, I didn't like the payment machine being set up for tips when you order from the counter, they bring you the food but they don't apparently have fountain drinks so you pay for bottled water the same price as bottled soda. They had tea but it seemed too pricey. And really, the interior was just like a roadside BBQ place, chairs, no booths,, so I guess most of their business is carry out or delivery. I just felt underwhelmed by my experience here, I will probably try it again sometime and if so I'll update this then.

Pretty good for small town bbq! Their pulled pork sandwich was reallly juicy and flavorful - got slaw on top and it was delicious. Their brisket sandwich was less good in my opinion - a bit tough and dry. For sides I shared sweet potato fries and fried okra - both were good but the fried okra dipped in ranch was tasty asf! They only offer one table side bbq sauce which was a sweet vinegar based sauce that I really enjoyed. Food came out quickly. Definitely recommend! PS they have a decent variety of food on the menu but don't have sausages here yet.

Stopped in for dinner. We are from out of state and wanted some local southern BBQ. We got the ribs and a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top. Both were tasty. The pulled pork was flavored nicely, tender, and enjoyable. I also liked their BBQ sauce. The side of Mac and cheese was sprinkled with seasoning. I did not care for the seasoning, but the Mac and cheese was creamy and good. Cute location. Decent prices. Good service and the food came to our table quickly.

In on a Saturday at 3 for an early dinner. 33 miles, one way, to check them out. Not busy. Order at counter and they will bring your order. Menu is a big board behind the register. ORDERED: 1/2 rack of Saint Louis cut pork ribs. $13.49 Came with 1 side (baked beans) and a small corn bread. Ribs came out of a warmer and were dry and small. Also, NOT HOT but just warm. Beans were OK. Iced Tea (serve your self) $2.10 with refills. I wanted to try their brisket. Got 1/2lb to go $11.50 They said it was CHOPPED but it was cut into CUBES. Flat and point together and sauced. Things were OK but tooooo far to go back.

Pulled pork & fried okra. I added wings cause it's Wingday Friday

Wing day Friday I got the Last 4! u also got a pulled pork sandwich with a side of fried okra tealky hit the spot.

I'm pretty pleased with this small BBQ outfit. They serve pulled chicken that's WAY better than Stamey's (it had FLAVOR!) and the sides are served with ample portions. A platter is a good value (one fat side plus a nice lil' corn muffin) for $11.49. My daughter enjoyed her cheeseburger and my wife was a fan of the brisket. There's a choice of one bbq sauce here, apparently, and that's fine, because sometimes I don't want to be overwhelmed by 10 choices of BBQ sauce. The one sauce they have is pretty good, too.

Food is like dont expect too much. The ribs a bit dry, pulled pork was ok, fried okra is Good! Wanted the beef brisket but was told only Tuesday to Saturday. Portion's a but small Service.. the guy preparing the food was very accommodating and super friendly! The girl at the counter might be having a bad day .. but after ordering it affected your mood already. Hope she's okay Place is clean

Had been hearing good things about this place and it did not disappoint! We had the ribs and bbq chicken with fried okra and boy was it good. The ribs were just short of falling off the bone and the sauce was a wonderful compliment. Will spread the word and definitely be back!

I literally read the name of my selection off the menu board several times, and at least twice pointed out to them what I wanted on the menu board directly behind them, yet twice the guy insisted they had no such selection. Only after he confirmed with his fellow employees what I wanted would he accept my order. Jerk. What I picked: jumbo tender and barbecue plate (wish I'd taken a photo of the menu board). The order was slow to arrive, though I found out that's because the tenders were being freshly made. And the plate contained an impressive amount of food when it arrived. The barbecue wasn't bad, the chicken was indeed hot, and the slaw and potato salads were nice additions. I didn't care much for the hush puppies as they didn't seem very flavorful and were too dry. One of the other staff members was kind enough to fill my drink cup several times as I worked my way through the plate. That evening, and during the following morning, my stomach did not handle the meal well at all. I hadn't noticed any off-putting flavors in the food, but clearly something did not sit well with my digestive tract. So between the early issues with the service and the frequent bathroom visits I made in the hours following my trip to Smithfield's, I'm afraid I've gotta suggest that you look elsewhere if you are in search of a good experience in the Aberdeen/Southern Pines area. If you decide to take a chance here, I hope your fortunes are better than mine were!

Not a lot of great things tend to come out of New England, but the IPAs are one! I also liked the lime wheel beer. Not too sweet, sour, or tart, just very well balanced and refreshing. If you want to go with a real West Coast IPA, the Thistle Brew will do the job. The piney notes and grapefruit flavors are quite pronounced. This wasn't necessarily my style, but I think it will please those who prefer the hoppier flavors. I scored a free sticker too. Then I took a bite...and it was unlike any sandwich I'd ever had before. It did get a little messy, but what's good food without it being a little messy? Honestly, I'm kind of a mess so it probably had something to do with that. Four years later - nothing had changed. I love going there to get a sandwich when I'm in the area. I just wish they were open a little later. My top three picks are the Birdie, Greek, and Real Italian. You can't go wrong with any of them. I've also tried the Wally, Sand, Pitching, Flip, Original, and New Yorker (sometimes a family member will let me try some of their sandwich...and vice versa). All great.
