The employees of this store lack intelligence because they do not know the difference between potato salad and french fries. We ordered 3 bbq plates with slaw and french fries and what we got was 3 plates with slaw and potato salad. The order was rung up correctly as it hadslaw and fries on the receipt. The error was not discovered until we got home 20+ miles away. I called to speak to the manager and asked if his employees knew the difference between french fries and potato salad to which he answered yes. I explained to him they must not because we ordered 3 plates with slaw and french fries and what we got was slaw and potato salad. He looked up the order number and saw what was rung up and then showed his lack of intelligence by saying he could see where it was rung up wrong. I had to explain to the lack of intelligence manager that it was rung up correctly but was prepared wrong. You know what they say, birds of a feather flock together. If the manager lacks intelligence, you can't expect much more of his employees. As for the food, it was mediocre as the potato salad was runny and the bbq was dry. read more

I was really impressed by my visit to Smithfield's. I walked in and waited in a short line to order (2-3 people), and even though it was short, an employee went ahead and opened another register to serve us faster. I ordered the special- BBQ sandwich, hushpuppies (that was the side I happened to pick), and a drink for $5.49. My husband ordered the chicken with french fries and Brunswick stew. We waited only a few moments at the table before they brought the food to us. The sandwich was HUGE! The slaw looked more mayo based, but didn't taste like it. It tasted traditional vinegar based, and the sandwich was yummy! My husband also really enjoyed his food. When I asked the "waitress" for some butter, she brought plenty of it. She was extremely friendly and professional and kept everyone's drinks filled and filled quickly. I was very impressed by all the employees that worked there. Being from Texas, we do BBQ a little differently. I've never been a fan of the vinegar based sauce, but with the coleslaw, it is balanced out okay. I asked for a pulled pork without the sauce and slaw, and when I bit into it, my stomach turned immediately. It was slathered in the vinegar sauce. I couldn't eat it. One of my favorite places to eat in Sanford. The jumbo chicken tenders are excellent... the best I have had and I have ordered tenders throughout the US at a lot of fast food and regular restaurants. The french fries are really good too. The staff usually comes by your table to see if you need a refill on your drink - this is nice touch. I also like being able to wash my hands before and/or after I eat at the conveniently located sink at one part of the dining room. And try the hush puppies, they are very tasty! read more

BBQ was moist and was vinegar based which isn't my favorite although it's not horrible. Hush puppies were good but were served with a prepack of generic tartar sauce, not much care in that. Staff was lackluster and the store was a bit dirty for being pretty much empty due to rain. Probably won't be eating here again. Very average and nothing to draw me back. read more
