Half chicken with rice and beans(suppose to be beans but it was mostly soup)
    Remy J.

I truly enjoyed this place in Raleigh they are amazing there but here in Sanford it just seems like they just rather lose customers than even try. I paid for a half a chicken plate with rice and beans. I got the chicken and rice..The beans were basically at the bottom of all the juice that wasn't at all enough of what i paid for. Ambiance gives overworked over priced no smiles and i guess since they didn't recognizes me when i came i truly wanted to turn around. I get it though. Fast food isn't easy but if you doing it it gotta be right people work hard for their money and just want an honest meal. Definitely only going if i am seriously craving it

Looks, smells and tastes great! Clean location, good ambiance, kitchen looks clean from the counter.

This is the best Peruvian chicken in the whole world except Peru. Now don't become depressed or have an anxiety attack when you arrive. The sign has a new name Fabes. Not sure what that stands for. But you will get the same great counter service and help from the staff. BTW I did ask about the name change. Seems that The owners only wanted alpaca restaurants in the triangle. Hello the triangle is moving is expanding. But don't worry I'll be back cause that's some gooooood chicken.

This was incredible. What a pleasing dish visually, and what an even better taste! I couldn't leave any pieces uneaten. Very flavorful steak and seasoning with complimentary toppings and sauces that add to the experience. The service is great and the wait was short. The ambiance was clean and relaxing. Prices arent to high and definitely a new favorite here.

The reason for my rating not being as high as it could've been comes down to something not directly related to the food. We dropped in about one hour before close recently. It was our first time in Sanford, and yelp search led us here thanks to the good reviews. As we pulled in to the parking lot, I could see someone sweeping the dining room floor. We walked in and up to the counter to place our orders. Then as soon as the staff asked if our order was to go and we said we were dining in, the staff turned and looked at this other staff at the register and made faces at each other that clearly said, ugh they're eating in and we just cleaned everything! The blatant facial expression and eye rolls made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, and as if we were being a burden somehow. And frankly, the best food in the world wouldn't have made up for it. As for the food, we got the half chicken, beans and rice, plantains, and homemade slaw. Slaw was creamy and soupy, and the chicken had good seasoning although some parts had dried out and weren't as juicy as expected. Beans and rice was good, and plantains were...plantains. I imagine this was not the peak dinner service so I had reasonable expectations and enjoyed the food for what it was, but it was ultimately the attitude of staff that ruined the experience for me. I hope they keep improving. I wish them well.

    Tasty beans, rice and torts.

To be fair, I didn't try their signature dish (chicken) but I did go to this place twice for lunch in just two day. Both times I had large plate of black beans with rice. Both times I asked them to go easy on the rice and throw in extra beans. One lady didn't understand but the second time they got it right. They have bottled hot sauce at the drink counter but don't miss the little salsa bar. Two types of hot sauce, cilantro, radish and lime. I threw the red salsa, cilantro and radish on the beans and rice and it was so tasty. Also, grab some of the fresh corn tortillas. Really goes well with the beans The place gets packed at lunch, tables get full quick so plan accordingly.

Amazing food. The chicken is outstanding. The beans over white rice and the green beans are so good. A must stop when in the Raleigh area

Make your order, pay for it, and they'll give you a number and bring it to your table if it's busy. I was helped by a lovely young lady, we conversed in Spanish, and went to find a table. Silverware and napkins are next to the drink fountains. The decor on the walls is awesome, a mix of heritage/Latin culture with obvious military support - it's nice to see that. FOOD: I chose the Arroz chaufa (which is Peruvian fried rice) and a side of Maduros (sweet plantains). The arroz came with a small side salad which included fresh lettuce, fresh tomato and cucumber. The rice had scallions, carrots, fried egg, chopped rotisserie chicken, all stir fried together on a hot wok, and served as a very generous portion. Over by the drink fountains you will find two special house sauces there - the yellow and the green one. Both packed a punch of flavor and one had a little extra spicy fire to it. I can imagine how delicious it is with the chicken. The maduros were delicious. I used some of the house green sauce to add some fire to the sweetness. So good! Honestly though, tons of flavor without even having to dip into sauces - same for the arroz! OVERALL: Like I said, 100 stars. This place was bomb! Wish I could pick it up and take it back home with me. Would easily eat here every day if I lived close by and would be racking up them stamps to get a free meal.

I was in town for business and as in every location I travel to, I look for Peruvian food. This is in my top three. One was in Austin, TX, one in St Louis, MO and now this one in Durham, NC. I had the lunch special. It included a drink, soup and entree. Of course you have to drink Inca Cola (tastes like Squirt with Cream Soda) nice and cold. I'll have to get a Chicha Morada to take with me (which I did, and it was fruity and sweet, like a non-alcoholic sangria with cinnamon). The soup was a chicken and lentil soup with various veggies. As soon as I tasted it, I knew I was in for a treat and prayed the Aji de Gallina would be just as good. It was! Aji de Gallina is a shredded chicken dish made with Peruvian Aji amarillos, nuts, Parmesan cheese. Add in all the delicious spices Peru is known for and you have a wonderful, homey, delicious dish. I will be coming back tonight for dinner. Can't decide if I want the Seco de Res or the Lomo Saltado. Both staple dishes in Peru. Part 2 - so...I was too tired to go back for dinner. BUT, I did order in. I got the Papa à la Huancaina (so delicious, it tasted like I make at home). It is a creamy, Aji Amarillo cheese sauce over yellow potatoes. I would have liked it a little spicier, but I understand having to cater to the general public, so I'll let that slide. But the flavor was as good as you could get. I also opted to order the Seco since I thought it would travel better than the Lomo Saltado. The rice was perfect. Not soggy or spongy. Just right. Flavored with a little salt and garlic. You could eat it by itself. The Seco meat was tender. I didn't even use a knife to cut it. In fact, it pulled apart easily with a plastic fork. I would have liked a little more of the cilantro sauce to soak up in my rice. The flavors were right on, but I love cilantro...so. It even came with a Salsa Criolla (lightly pickled red onion), which is authentic and served with many Peruvian dishes. I ordered additional salsa amarillo just to taste. It's a sauce made with aji amarillo and black mint. I know it sounds weird but it's actually so tasty and fresh. My only disappointment were the beans not that they weren't good and flavorful, but they were pinto beans. I was really expecting mayacoba beans (similar to a white canary bean). Sorry, I ate it before thinking about taking pictures. All in all, I would rate this highly for those wanting to try authentic Peruvian food. My next visit to Durham I'll be trying the Ceviche and Lomo Saltado.

Love the interior decor, with an added covered patio on bustling Elm St. Service was quick and friendly as well. The ceviche had excellent flavors with the lime juice, red onions and cilantro. The Lomo Saltado (steak, tomatoes, onions, peppers fired up in a wok) had complex and exceptional flavors as well. Again, some of the meat was a bit tough and chewy. But again, the authentic Peruvian flavors shined. Instead of fries, I chose the fried yucca as a side and these were outstanding. Perfectly fried, tender and flavorful. Dipping these in the sauce the meat was bathed in was heavenly. Had the fish and meat been a little more tender, these would have easily been 5 star dishes. Overall, an amazing authentic Peruvian spot, that with a little tweaks, would be a 5 star joint 100%. Looking forward to trying some of their other amazing dishes on the menu.
