This is our first visit to this establishment. We were so impressed with their sister restaurant, "The Roast" in Whispering Pines, we looked forward to the opening of the Coast. Our order consisted of Coconut Shrimp, Low Country Boil, and Flounder Basket. For dessert we had Key lime pie with mango drizzle. The restaurant is well decorated, clean, and has options: dining room, Sun room, and patio. The atmosphere is welcoming. Service was prompt, attentive, and professional. We don't expect perfection; how problems are handled matter most. Our Coconut Shrimp had several pieces undercooked. The wait staff immediately acknowledged the issue and management produced a new fully cooked replacement served with a sincere apology. Since we ate half the order before seeing the issue, I attempted to waive off the offer for the staff removing the appetizer from our bill. They graciously insisted that it be on the house. Low country boil and the flounder basket did not disappoint! The boil was pleasantly spicy- not too much, but just enough zing to awaken the senses. The flavors were rich and buttery. The flounder was lightly breaded, flaky and light. Note the tartar sauce had a light, lemon flavor. The hush puppies were delicious and fresh. The mango pie had a delightful flavor, slightly acidic and not too sweet. The mango drizzle balanced the acidity well. Note the light, flavorful crust. We highly recommend this establishment and look forward to dining here again soon. read more

Stopped in here based on the other reviews. Happened to ask the owner/chef about the menu & soooo glad we did. All their Food is sourced very specifically for flavor & quality. We ended up ordering way more than we could eat & ALL of it was absolutely delicious. They have some amazing dishes with true creativity - but all of them were so so so good. Absolutely some of the friendliest and attentive staff we have had & we will absolutely be back & try their sister restaurant (Roast) too!! read more

Had a sign telling you to wait to be seated. We stood and waited without being acknowledged. The wait staff standing behind the cash register holding personal conversations. The host was taking a food order on the phone with another lady standing waiting. Don't support this business. They don't care about customers or providing good customer experience. Not sure if people giving these rave reviews get out much! Most everything is pre made frozen goods! Clam strips were basically fried batter. Hush puppies not original. French fries under cooked and raw. The oysters were the real deal but would never consider coming back nor recommending. The staff were very pleasant. Tables were sticky greasy. Passing through with my parents. My mom heard about this place and we decided to try it and we are so glad we did!! My parents had the Captain Crispy Sandwich which was fried cod. My husband got the chicken tenders plate and I got the Crabby Patty sandwich. All but one of us got fries. My mom opted for the house made chips. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their lunch and gave each choice a 10. For me, it was my first time ever having a crab burger and I'm grateful I chose this place to try one. All the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Fries were perfectly cooked and the coleslaw was some of the best I've ever had anywhere. We shared the bread pudding which was so beautifully presented and incredibly delicious! My only negative would be they only offer passion fruit tea, which I'm allergic to passion fruit, so I wish they'd add regular sweet tea to the menu. Other than that it was a perfect experience. Wonderful choice for lunch or dinner, especially for seafood. One of my favorite, go-to places for lunch. Comfortable, clean. Food is fresh, hot, flavorful and portions are generous. Visited during Saturday lunch at high noon. Promptly seated. Sue greeted us and offered a verbal list of beverages available. Water brought with pellet ice! Yay! Lunch menu offers Sandwiches and Salads mainly. I ordered a Garden Salad with Grilled Shrimp. Mango dressing was mild and salad was so so. Shrimp Fantastic. I believe there were 5 large shrimp with slightly Old Bay seasoning but better. Then had room for dessert so ordered Granny's Donut Bread Pudding that stole the show! Bourbon Barrel Crunch Ice Cream was local and unforgettable. I will be back for dinner to try out more from Coast! read more

Sunday drive to Coast Seafood Shack in Vass. Lucky to get Cash as the server. He made the experience much more than food. He was attentive without hovering. Arrived at 5 it was half full but by 6:30 it was PACKED. Everything was delicious. 'Ersters (oysters) Wellfleet & Great White on the half shell. Buttery Garlic Steamers in white wine broth (Little Neck clams). House salad added grilled shrimp with Maple Cider vinaigrette. Good was the service. Fast and accurate. Food was decent. Fish undercooked. Drinks were fine. Cost was very reasonable.

We went to Coast today and the place was packed. Especially for a Thursday early evening. We waited about 20 minutes and got a table. Service was prompt and friendly. Their iced tea is delicious. we had the American flounder basket and the catch of the day (halibut). most items are under $20. The special (catch of the day) was just under $30. We had the coconut shrimp as an appetizer and a side of Mac and cheese. Both were great. The Mac and cheese may not look very appetizing but it was really good and really cheesy. everything was excellent! the only reason why it is not a 5 star is because of the ambiance. It does give diner vibes vs nice seafood restaurant but we will certainly be back! read more

Coast KNOWS FOOD. Experiencing Coast is akin to the slam-dunk at the at the end of overtime when your team wins the game. Owner/Chef Matt Delle is no fry cook. Matt Delle is a fine dining chef who puts the small town of Vass on the map with the finest dining bar none, purposely sourcing ingredients based on flavor and quality, not cheapest cost. I had a Chef burger, crinkle cut french fries, calabash breaded hushpuppies and shrimp, homemade tartar sauce, and homemade cocktail sauce. Now, I hear what you're thinking: fried food and a burger, but folks, there is an art to fried food and a burger, and most places get them both very, very wrong. Not Chef Delle. When Chef Delle combines his knowledge and experience of fine dining with simpler fare for us commoners, we are so the luckier for it. Don't like burgers and fries? Not a problem. How about weekly specials such as Duck Confit, Fresh-Made New England Clam Chowder, or Blackened Black Grouper? If you do like burgers, fries, hushpuppies, and shrimp: - Burger: Angus, moist not greasy. - Fried shrimp: Calabas style, a light, crisp breading that enhances the shrimp and doesn't fill you up with breading - Crinkle Cut French Fries: Crisp, not soft, not soggy, not greasy. - Hushpuppies: Calabas style, light and tasty, not dense, dry, or greasy like so many places that seem to treat the sides as afterthoughts. - Homemade Tartar Sauce: Absolutely AMAZING. Light, a hint of sweet, compliments the seafood, does not overpower it. - Homemade Cocktail Sauce: Light, slightly tart, enhances, not distracts. My parents and I had our first meal at Coast in Vass last night. The 3 of us were very happy with our food, the ambiance, and the friendly attentive service! My parents commented that everyone was smiling which is amazing. I was treating my parents to dinner and couldn't believe it when the bill came and it was just under $70. My dad had the Calabash Combo (shrimp and oyster basket), my mother ordered the Calabash Oyster basket, and I ordered the brisket meal. Holy moly the food was good! Please do yourself a favor and go soon if you haven't tried it yet. I never think about going to Vass for dinner usually, but I will now. And yes, I do like Valentis as well read more

We went last Sunday evening and had a very good experience. For starters we got the shrimp nola appetizer. It was spot on delicious. I got the catch of the day which was crab stuffed flounder with rice and baby carrots as my sides. My wife got her favorite Alaskan crab claws with a Ceasar salad and hushpuppies. Everything was fantastic and the service was impeccable!! We will definitely be back! We really enjoyed the decorations too! read more

First time ordering and eating. Very disappointed I order 2 shrimp boil with potatoes , corn and sausage. Got home and one of the plates had no sausage and the potatoes were hard , not cooked enough at all. Very disappointing with the price and the taste of the food I will go somewhere else read more

Excellent restaurant in the quaint town of Vass. I can't speak high enough of the food and the staff. They are staffed well and handle the volume of people easily, so don't let the overflow parking lot scare you. Highly recommend it if you enjoy seafood! read more
