If you want that home town feel, that you don't see that often anymore this is the place . If you want real handmade hamburgers this is your place . I'll take Kenny's over any fast food restaurant any day .

My partially eaten omelette. It did lop over both sides when served! Note the grilled onions!

We enjoyed lunch so much we thought about returning the next day. This will always be a favorite. Lots to try on the menu.

My new favorite breakfast joint! What food and huge portions. The wait staff is most friendly and Kenny is quite the character.

Worst service, food was not cooked per order but in all fairness, I'm pretty sure that was the waitresses fault.

Great American diner! Friendly staff, Kenny and Susan. The chicken sausage is fabulous! A must do if you're in the area.

I come to Rockingham for a race every year, and always look forward to breakfast at Kenny's. Ask for the corn beef hash, it's AWESOME.

We were seated in a back room at a long table, one of three. This room was warm and lovely. One table was already occupied, the other filled up shortly before we finished. From start to finish, our dining experience was wonderful. We did not have to worry about our little ones disrupting other guests, as the other party had little ones too. Our server, Madeline, was absolutely perfect! She was attentive without being intrusive. She had a good sense of humor and guided out decisions for food when we asked. She served us promptly and with a smile and made us feel so welcomed. I wish I could remember what everyone else ordered but I do know that my Pork Schnitzel was incredible! Also huge so I had enough for another meal the next day. When I return I will order the same thing. My husband brought a birthday cake in for me and our server brought that out at the end of the meal with plates and forks for everyone. We forced her to take a piece for her break, which she goodnaturedly did. There is only one tiny tiny thing to mention: It did take a long while for the 5 year old's drink and food to arrive. Not anyone's fault, it was very very busy. But try to explain that to a 5 year old. Rolls were served but they were too spicy for her. Or maybe the butter was spicy? Maybe feed your little ones something beforehand if you go on a busy weekend night, as we did. Kudos to the kitchen for pleasing so many different tastes so much, and for management for hiring Madeline who is a great asset to your restaurant.

Hopping restaurant located on a posh residential street about a mile out of the village. The decor…read moreis eclectic (I dined under a large, colorful Dr. Seuss print) with fairly closely-spaced tables that keep the room buzzing. There's an upscale bar in the entry that had several seats open even when the tables were all full. I started with the crab hush puppies. What's not to like about fried dough after all, but I didn't really get much crab flavor out of them. The buttermilk and corn preparation came through more. The entree was a showstopper, though - grilled elk chops with a pomegranate glaze and country mashed potatoes. They were scrumptious, and the al dente vegetables cooked in with the potatoes gave them a nice toothsomeness. One of the best entrees I've had in quite some time. It's nice when a menu gives you a protein choice you don't see everywhere. Parking is fine, with a paved lot in front and spaces on either side of the adjacent street. Service was welcoming and efficient.

Bottle of wine, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts = $175 not including tip. Complimentary biscuits were not fully cooked - still doughy. Waitstaff said they were "waiting for the biscuits to cook" - totally understandable, but wait 3 more minutes so you don't serve uncooked dough. This is a time management thing for the kitchen: 5:00 reservations = put biscuits in the oven no later than 4:40. Escargot was good. Disappointed that our dirty/empty appetizer plates stayed all over the table so long. This is the difference between "fine dining" & a typical restaurant. Utensils used for appetizers should be removed & replaced for main meal. Just another little detail that sets apart "price is worth it" & "why'd I pay that much?" Steak frites were good. Lamb was good. Desserts were good. Cacao nibs were entirely too hard - I thought I was eating pieces of nut shells. Not enjoyable. Waitress was very friendly, but we did get the feeling that we weren't regulars, so it was ok to not pay attention to us (like remove dirty dishes).

At most 8 oz but given what a terrible cut it was irellevant. It was ordered medium rare and it came back medium to well but it was so thin it almost did not matter. It was also smothered with pepper kernals which made it worse. Definitely one of the worst steaks i have ever eaten in my entire life of 67 years. That includes supermarket steaks. Next the whipped potatoes were cold and hard. I guess at some point they were whipped? The $3 surcharge for the creamed spinach was also cold and had no taste. If this were a $10 Food Lion steak i would have been disappointed but for $65 the restaurant ahould be shut down. To top it off, the server who i had to call over as he never checked on dinner saw the steak and agreed. Yet, the restaurant did nothing to cure the issue and to add insult to injury added their 20% tip to the meal since we had a large group. DEPLORABLE!!!! This was absolutely disgraceful how the restaurant could serve a fatty small veiny, tastless piece of $65 steak and not apologize and try to cure it in any fashion. ZERO ACKNOWLEDGMENT. ....but.....they did a great job of making sure the credit card charge went through!!!
