On my day off, I pointed my Tahoe south, and just drove. I eventually wound up in Troy, NC at lunch time. A Yelp search found Martha's Grill in nearby Star, NC It has a 4 star rating, but the data set is REALLY small with only 5 previous reviews. Looked kind of divey, though, so I headed that way. Definitely a divey place that is well stocked with locals. VERY reminiscent of Tucker's Grill in Horneytown. I ordered the giant cheeseburger, a hot dog all the way, and fries. The cheeseburger was a 3.5 star effort, with a nice char on the outside and a good flavor. That it was cooked slightly too long is my only gripe. The hot dog was excellent: 4+ stars. As I mentioned in my review of The Dugout, the wiener makes a huge difference in the hot dog experience, and the one Marth's uses has a really good flavor. I was shocked to learn that it was just a food service hot dog--but it was really a good tasting dog. The chili was good but a little mild, and the slaw was tasty and not too dry and not too wet. The things that push this to 4 stars are the quality of the hot dog and its price: $1.55 for a very good hot dog is very hard to beat. Furthermore, the staff is very friendly. One concern I had was the 90.0 sanitation grade. It is three days later and I'm still alive, but this needs to be fixed. The area is beautiful--at the foot of the ancient Uwharrie Mountains. You can definitely enjoy a lovely drive in the country in this area, have a good lunch, and rub elbows with some locals.

Truly a gem to fine on our afternoon adventure. Food was fresh, hot, delicious and good price. Outdoor seating is great for our puppy.

Wonderful food. Down home style food prep. Excellent service very friendly. The only drawback is, they don't take credit cards.

First and foremost: Lauren was absolutely phenomenal. She was a fantastic problem-solver and was…read morespot-on with her attention & service. The problem was that there were many matters that Lauren had to try to mitigate that brought our experience from a four star to a three star: My stuffed salmon was the last of ten meals served & it was so overcooked that the salmon resembled jerky. They offered to make another for me to take to-go, but that did nothing for me in the moment (I still had to navigate a burned meal & we all know that type of meal does not reheat well). Noodles & sauce that came with the dish were very good. The "succotash" was unremarkable. Two plates of King crab legs (an EXTREMELY expensive meal) came with no melted butter - my friends had to ask twice for butter - crab got cold before butter was ever served. Waitress (not Lauren) said full serving costs $120. For some reason, 1/2 serving consisted of two legs, full serving consisted of three legs? We were told a claw would be included as well with the full serving, but then "reassured" that a full serving was indeed received without the claw. Chicken teriyaki was good. Mussels with pasta was good. Apparently. it is "safe" to consume the living red worms that squiggle on the oysters on the half shell, but in all our years in other restaurants with oysters, we've never seen worms moving on our plates. Is that because other restaurants clean off the oysters in a different manner? Is it because other restaurants serve on ice? I honestly don't know, but do know I can't eat wriggling worms. I sincerely appreciate Lauren's attempt to alleviate our concerns. Apparently, there was/is a shortage of glasses, because refills of beer and alcohol came in different sized glasses with each round. One beer refill came in a small brandy-type glass with no explanation. Again, a solution was offered well after the fact, but honestly should not have been necessary. This is not a fault of the waitstaff. The potatoes & slaw that are served with each meal were brought before our drinks were ever served - are they intended to be treated like appetizers? (Just a note: Active Duty military & Federal employees have been advised not to consume poppy seeds - it's ridiculous - but half of our table couldn't eat the slaw (which was unfortunate because the slaw was very good - one of my favorite recipes). Fried dishes were over cooked - extremely dark & tough. Do not forgot to ask what "Market price" is - it may be well over $100 per serving. By the way: their Carolina Colada is now my favorite drink! Delicious!! Look at the back of the menu for the day's drink special.

This is THE BEST blue bay out of them all, and I'm gonna tell you why…read more Me and my dad were heading to our family in Salisbury, and decided to stop in at this Blue Bay to see how it compares to the others. The restaurant is clean on the inside, and has that "old seafood joint" feel that every other Blue Bay has. The hush puppies that you get complimentary at the other locations have gotten scrawny, but they have remained full at this location. Their hush puppies are always good, but these hush puppies are like how they always used to be, according to my dad lol. We usually opt for the Chicken Tenders, which never miss. They are small, but are burning hot and crispy every time. Their fries also have good flavor. The Cole slaw is great, but needs a little salt. Their honey mustard is always great, also. The woman at the register charged us $1.00 more than what we were supposed to be charged, which got us a little fired up, but it'll be alright. For the good quality, it's justified. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you stopping in at some point. Great food!

The ambience is just as I remember it when I was a little girl back in the 80-90's. I was amazed to see that the water fountain still worked. Food was delicious as always. My daughter got fried chicken with wedges and the crunch could be heard across the room(now that's a sign of some good fried chicken. The complimentary hush puppies are the star of the show.Their like Lays potato chips , you can't eat just one. If you ever find yourself in or near Albemarle NC and wanna try some amazing fish, chicken, seafood...definitely give this place a try. You will not be disappointed, "I GUARANTEE"
