My first thoughts on first watch while driving past it was that this building was a one of those walk in medical care clinics. After searching for a brunch spot of the googles, First Watch popped up and my friend and i decided to give them a chance, and we were very pleased with our experience. Service was quick and we had no problem getting of choice of seating. I got the million dollar sand which served with crispy potatoes. Highly recommend. TOP FIVE breakfast places to go within 100 miles or more. The food is always hot, tasty, reasonably priced, and large proportioned. Pancakes are stellar, the sausage is super tasty, and the coffee (in carafes) is VERY good for a small restaurant chain. Best thing is the management. They are courteous, considerate, helpful, and fast with any issues. Cannot say enough about the place. If you need a goooood breakfast, look no further. read more

Her Belgian waffle was cold, even the whipped butter didn't melt on it when served. His avocado toast was cold, the toast was hard. The worst thing was the 2 basted eggs were served @ 7 minutes after the cold toast was served. The eggs were served by someone other than our waitress. Our server was oblivious to the poor food. Checked in early through the FW app, still wasn't on the list when we got there, then we weren't even acknowledged for 25 minutes so we left. Waste of our time, and no one even came by to let us know if they were busy - which they weren't. I would avoid going there on the weekends or if you're hungry. Where do I begin? The food safety violations, or the food quality? I don't recall ordering everything extremely well done. Our bacon was burnt black, as in crunching in your hands when you pick it up. The eggs for the omelette were crunchy and brown. We saw several health code violations in the kitchen. One employee had gloves on preparing food, in between plates was eating food and would continue preparing food without switching gloves. Another waitress was bitting their nails in the kitchen and without washing their hands, was bringing tables their food. There was a piece of bacon on the ground, countless employees walked past it and didn't attempt to pick it up. Only saw 2/3 employees in the kitchen with hairnets. Multiple employees in the kitchen also had jewelry and smart watches on also. I would suggest that they level set food safety across the board here, or cover the window into the kitchen that everybody can see through. read more

Dined for brunch on July 5th with my family, where we witnessed a child being escorted to the restroom while he was actively vomiting on the floor, clearly sick (not the child's fault). Several employees witnessed this, commented and pointed it out to each other. However, no one stopped to clean up the vomit that was all over the floor in a trail from the front of the restaurant all the way to the bathroom in the back. And it remained on the floor for at least 30 minutes and possibly longer. Employees and patrons walked over the vomit in an effort to avoid it, but not a single employee stopped what they were doing to clean up the mess. Nor did the parents of the child that was clearly sick, who stayed and continued to dine, with vomit still all over the floor! Disgusting and clearly a health hazard or violation! I'm giving three stars for this review only because I've noted a pattern of practice that I think warrants three stars. First Watch provides an upscale menu that focuses on healthy choices and menu selections that you won't find in a mom-and-pop kind of breakfast outlet. Innovative, out-of-the-box thinking for menu design bodes well for a great experience. What warrants the "just OK" rating for me is that some menu items that I order are --consistently--lukewarm. I'm an early riser and I often arrive within 30 minutes or so of opening. I typically order the same thing and while not everything is lukewarm--the eggs are done to order and are piping hot, but items that may not be as mainstream such as turkey sausage gravy or turkey sausage links are barely lukewarm. I hesitate to send items back because I don't want to be "that guy", but there is a responsibility not only for the back of the house staff to ensure that items are serving temperature, but that the servers are aware. There are many options for breakfast in Aberdeen, Southern Pines and Pinehurst. We love First Watch, but we'd love it even more if more care was taken to ensure menu items are ready to go out to the diner. read more

I looked over the other reviews and saw a gap that needed to be filled. Here goes: 1.) Go online to their website and put your name in so that you get a table without waiting when you show up. If you forget, they take your cell phone number and text you when it's ready. Sit outside with plenty of seating or in your car. 2.) There's a wide selection of goods: gluten free, vegetarian, meat lovers, pork-free options, eggs whites, etc. If you have a diverse group to feed, this place can make everyone happy. They even have the menu sectioned out nicely, all with the calorie contents (avert your eyes if you aren't into that and go for it). Another important thing to mention, they have a seasonal selections that will not disappoint. We've tried everything from pumpkin pancakes to the açaí bowl and it's all yummy. 3.) Draanks: Coffee, Juice, Juice elixirs, cocktails and beer. Don't assume every location has booze and beer, cause they don't but this one does. 4.) Customer Service: They are good! I love that they check in and update you if there are any delays. There's nothing worse than being kept out of the loop and seething with frustration. Happy servers, upbeat environment and excellent team work. 5.) Cleanliness: Just look at their health inspection, they're clean! They had dedicated members in the dining area to wipe down and sanitize between guests. Thank you! The broccoli and cheese soup tasted like flour- it must not have been cooked thoroughly to get the roux out. It was our first visit to First Watch. While half the tables were empty, we were advised it would be 20 minutes, obviously a staffing shortage. After 20 minutes, we were taken to a table where we waited another 10 minutes. The waitress took our order for toasted ham sandwiches with basil tomato soup. Shortly later she came back to advise that they were out of ham and would turkey work. Ee just wanted to eat and said that is fine. When the kitchen brought us our toasted turkey sandwiches and soup, the soup was hot and had an excellent taste. The toasted turkey sandwiches were lukewarm. When I paid the cashier, she asked how things were and I said, this was our first and last visit here. Her response was, yep it is a carp shot here! read more

My dad and I just tried First Watch for breakfast this morning and had top-notch service from Ethan and excellent food too! This is our first visit and we will most definitely be back. My dad ordered off of the daily special menu: grits and shrimp and I'll be darned if I can remember what mine was called but it was a hearty quinoa and vegetable with egg and sausage dish. Both of them extremely good! Facilities are extremely clean and nice space between each table, when you enter there is hand sanitizer, social sanitation guidelines and clearly labeled "used" and "sanitized" pen bins which is some thing most businesses overlook.
