From the start this place was very welcoming and warm. The menu is so unique. As you can see from the photos no one left anything on their plate. We share the Wisconsin cheddar soup, the tuna salad with Swiss on croissant, Southern Ruben on croissant, southern salad, and for an extra $1 you chips, pickle, & slaw. Delicious! The Clover ice tea is a must. Staff was efficient, kind, and genuine. I love the local artist throughout the restaurant. Thanks for being business and I can't wait for next time at the marketplace. read more

Several items on small menu were out... even tuna! Changed soup to fall even though it was still 90s for weeks. Wanted their gazpacho. Food ok. Nothing special. Odd billing. read more

Took over 45 minutes to get half a sandwich, cup of soup, and bag of chips. Added to the 15 minutes it took for someone to take our order. Spills on floor not properly cleaned. Plates with finger prints all over it. Soup was barely warm. read more

The sandwich filling was tasty and fresh. Great ham, turkey , bacon, lettuce, tomato and mustard but the croissant fell apart and not worth $12. Had to ask server for napkins and utensils. Very clean and inviting place. read more

Loved this Soup and Sandwich Combo with my choice of which Croissant Sandwich to choose. I usually go with the Southern Reuben, but thought the Bacon, Brie and Blackberry Jam with Jalapeños would go with the soup of the day, and it did! Delicious!! Loved the Soup of the Day, a Cream of Potato with Dill Pickles! Bought a 2nd cup of soup to take home to share along with a rich dark chocolate torte that my husband and I sliced into brownie size bites. Love their signature Clove Tea and Service was great, you take your check and pay at the counter and can leave a tip there or on your table. I enjoy the lovely outdoor brick patio, but it was too hot this day, but with all the windows it was nice and bright. The decor has changed, love the golf prints, needs a little something more in the way of decor and they are inviting you to give feedback "for a night of collaboration and ideas and announcements about upcoming events". Good food. And great service. Love the blt. Will for sure be back. The environment is very relaxing.

Used to love this place.. prices have gone up, portions are shrinking. We used to look forward to the $5 sandwiches on Mondays they hardly advertise anymore and have to call... they also only do dine in for the deal and no chips or coleslaw either just the sandwich. They are consistently having unfriendly service, such a shame! read more

Food was okay. Staff was very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Ordered the tuna sandwich with lettuce. Had more lettuce than tuna and quite small for $12. read more

First time going to the market place and I'll say right off the bat they do a lot of things right here -- The restaurant itself is very nice and "homey" if you will... Good ambience, very spacious inside. There's a lot of nice decorations, and paintings for sale from (I assume) local artists. In the lady's bathroom there's a lot of religious art work and scripture related things, which I really liked. The outdoor seating is great as well. Over all "The Market Place" has a lot of personality My husband and I ordered 2 smoothies, the bacon and brei sandwhich, the roast beef sandwhich, the chicken salad croissant, and lastly a piece of cheesecake and chocolate cake (we were hungry in our defense haha) Upon checking in on yelp, we were also awarded with a free chocolate chip cookie! The sandwiches here are a definite 5 stars, and personally I highly recommend the bacon and brei. My husband and I were definitely more than satisfied. The wait staff here is also 5 stars. We were attended by nearly all the servers, as they do a shared tip/order system. Quick story - My husband ordered the monkeys breakfast smoothie, to which they informed us they didn't have anymore bananas so he would just be getting peanut butter, milk, and oats. He decided to order it anyway and the staff went out of their way to make sure he knew what he was ordering. They even made it, and let him sample it so he could decided if he liked it or not free or charge. In the spirit of full transparency IF I had to say ONE thing that wasn't 5 star about this restaurant, it would be how long it took to get our sandwiches.... There weren't too many people when we arrived, and we noticed that a table that sat down about 10 minutes after us, got their meal before we did. Since this was our first time and I like to air towards the positive, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume there was good reason for this, but because everything else was so great I'm going to give them the 5 stars. Overall good experience and great service read more

The Market Place is a great deli for lunch and can accommodate large groups, which included me and my friends this particular day. Right away I noticed it's warm and friendly atmosphere upon entering and instantly fell in love when I walked in. Lots of options when it comes to sandwiches and I opted for my go-to, chicken salad on a croissant, which was delicious. They do have gluten free available if you have dietary restrictions. I ordered a hot drink to enjoy while I waited for my meal to arrive, in addition to their famous clove tea, which was sweetened just how I like it! The chicken salad was so good I could have eaten two but decided to save room for dessert when I saw they had fried apple pies on the menu! If you're not into pie, they also have cake, cookies (free chocolate chip with yelp check-in), smoothies and bars. They have a lunch combo that includes 1/2 sandwiches with your choice of soup or salad for a great deal. There are also options to take home large portions of a few items by the pound such as their tuna salad, pimento cheese, slaw, soup, etc. Outdoor seating on days when the weather is nice and venue space available for rent. Neat restaurant worth checking out! read more

Food and service have noticeably gone downhill in the past few years. Quality of food is noticeably lower than in the past and it is difficult to find a smile in the place these days. read more

To start, I wouldn't say anyone there was friendly. Long wait, even though there wasn't anyone in there. Lots of workers standing around though, so no clue why it took so long. My biggest complaint is that one of the workers stood on the counter by the drinks to put ice into the soda dispenser. She then went and got a communal cloth to swipe over it, then put it back in the same spot she got it. I was done after that, we won't be back. read more

Went there for lunch after doctor appointment and the food did not disappoint. I ordered a lunch, which was a cup of potato and dill pickle soup and half a chicken salad sandwich. Both were delicious and plentiful. I ordered my daughter a tuna fish sandwich to go and she couldn't stop raving about it. We will definitely be going back. read more

Soups and sandwiches are great! I also love the Clove tea! The staff are very friendly as well! Highly recommend!

Came hungry and left hungry. The food was over priced, came in small portions, and was mediocre at best. The service was poor and effortless. The cherry on top was a $1 up charge from crackers to chips, which is just a bag of ruffles. read more

As a native of the area, I remember the original Marketplace Restaurant on Midland Rd. This namesake is a sad attempt at the original. The waitstaff is preoccupied and unfriendly. The classic roast beef sandwich with Brie on a croissant was super delicious at the original restaurant but the new incarnation is a thin and soggy attempt. The owner seems more intent on shoving his political beliefs down the throats of patrons than serving up good food. If you love Orange Foolius, then this is the place for you! read more

First time coming in and we would be happy to come back! My kids were happy with the lunches, especially the smoothie. The wheat bread is the good kind that kids won't complain about. We really loved the outdoor seating area and the decor appointed. The owners and staff were all friendly accommodating. The best part, for me l, was the addition of clove to the sweet tea. I love when there's unique menu items I just can't replicate at home. Would love to try something more unusual on the menu next time. read more

Well today was a bust at Marketplace. I'm not local, but when I'm in, it's a favorite to stop in. I had plans to go for lunch today, but due to an unforeseen emergency I knew I wouldn't make it. I still wanted to order my favorite sandwich(bacon & Brie)so I called it in as a scheduled pick up, they happily took my order. I arrived to pick my order up and this is where things went downhill. A lady came to ring me out where about a 2 minute speech began of raking me over the coals. Said what I did was unacceptable, and essentially because of me there would be no more orders taken over the phone. Apparently the sandwich was on special today and it was in such high demand they ran out of ingredients and it wasn't fair for me to be able to order my sandwich to pick up later in the day. There was more to the conversation, but overall all very disappointing and could've approached this situation differently. I didn't order my sandwich to be unfair or to stress them, I ordered because it's my favorite sandwich and I was passing through town. I will be marking this off my list of stops, which is unfortunate since it was one of my favorites. This was definitely a huge turn off, the owner took my order and it's ashame he didn't check me out, and let this other lady. Wish them the best. read more

The server was very pleasant but when I got my chicken salad sandwich it was very disappointing. I may have missed the listing but I am not sure why it was served on an overly dry croissant. Second one half is the sandwich the croissant had split so it was falling apart., problematic when it was ordered to go. I know with prices on everything going up it can be hard for cafes and restaurants, but the value on this sandwich was terrible. A half cup of chicken salad on a dry croissant with 2 lettuce leaves and plain chips for $12? read more

The restaurant is very "meh"-- nothing special. Overpriced and SMALL sandwiches ($12 to $15 each). Brunswick Stew is *sweet*-- which is not good. Roast beef and Brie was actually pretty good, I will give them that. HOWEVER, they do insist on being the MAGA place. Blaming their prices on Biden with a Let'sGoStupidRandomGuy hashtag on BOTH sides of the menu (really? I just want to eat, man, not learn your political leanings). A "Workers for Trump" sign, etc. Freedom of speech is great, but you are crazy to alienate half of your customers. Apparently the owner got the business from his mom-- not sure if she believed in similar displays or not, but would not be surprised if the business doesn't last under current ownership b/c of such asinine practices. read more

the restaurant is clean and well kept. The food is way over priced for a small sandwich and a tiny cup of slaw and quarter pickle.

Stopped in to The Market Place restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant is very cute, I sat at a window seat and it was a very calm relaxing atmosphere. The server was very nice and attentive while not being overly hovering and the Brie and Bacon Melt with blackberry and jalapeño jam on croissant was delicious. The croissant was flakey and buttery and the bacon was extra crispy exactly the way I like it. The menu was fairly limited for breakfast but the food was exceptional so I would definitely visit again when I am in the area. read more

The Market Place - Brie and Bacon Melt with Blackberry Jalapeño Jam on Croissant - New American Near Me - Pinehurst, North Carolina

First and last time at market place. Over priced and bland meals. Reminded me of school lunch.

I get lunch to go from here pretty frequently since I work right up the road from there. They do a pretty good job of making sure all of our food is correct when we place to-go's . I LOVE the Clove tea. It's just a nice hint of it in the traditional sweet tea. Croissant sandwiches are the best and it's nice to have a choice of regular or Large sandwiches. The roast beef & brie, and Chicken salad are our favorites. The slaw is a little different, but in a good way ( more of a sweet vinegar base) They have fresh baked goods, desserts, coffee, quiches and homemade soups. Staff and service are always super helpful and friendly. That is with dining in and to-go. My only wish is that they had just a couple more keto/low carb options, but that's more of a personal thing since it's so hard to resist the delicious croissants. read more

Good and bad. Good ... Roast beef sandwich croissant with brie and grilled chicken with chutney was ok. None of the 3bof us liked the coleslaw. I ordered the salmon salad. Terrible! Salmon was super dry and fishy tasting. Place was packed , Waitrss was too busy to catch to ask her to take it back so ate the greens. Had to go inside to talk to manager/owner, Luke. The only thing he responded was he'll check on the salmon. No other comment and didn't offer to replace or anything. Place was busy so maybe his lack of care was his reason. Anyway ... Go again? Not sure ... Would probably give them another chance but definitely wouldn't order the salmon salad. read more

First time here for lunch. Loved it. Let's start with staff. Friendly and attentive but not annoying. Your drink glass will not go dry either. I had the lunch special which is half sandwich and cup of soup. I chose the chili and a pimento cheese sandwich. The chili was really good. Only negative is it's a little more soupy than I like, but still very tasty. The pimento cheese was excellent and has a little kick to it. I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

Went for lunch, ordered Bacon & Brie sandwich, the girl at the counter seemed like she didn't want to be there and had a bit of an attitude, sandwich came and it was roast beef & Brie, I told her that wasn't what I ordered, she took it back and was back very quickly, so obviously they took the roast beef off and replaced it with the bacon. Bacon was a bit hard to chew (was probably reheated). My husband came to meet me, he ordered, came to the table and said the same thing that I was thinking about the counter girl.. I messaged the owner through FB and he "assured" me that all sandwiches are made fresh .. told him a friend wanted to meet there the following week, so I would give it another try.. the second visit I ordered the potato soup and 1/2 of sandwich, was very disappointed, a lot of the potatoes in the soup were hard, the sandwich was "weak" the 1/2 of sandwich was so small and barely had anything on it, with a drink it was around $15! So not worth it! I wanted to give it a second chance, we like to support local businesses, but we definitely will not be going back.. also I have read the owners responses to anyone who didn't give a good review and his responses were very rude. read more

My visit to this establishment was way less than satisfactory. I was alarmed to see that the staff was not wearing masks in food preparation nor food service! I mentioned my concern to the waitress and she said management didn't require it. NOTE: It is a requirement by the State of North Carolina, since 6/24/20! A quick call to the health department was also revealing; "several complaints" have been filed and they still refuse to put the safety of their customers and staff first by following the mask mandate. The food was nothing to write home about. When I went to go pay, the cashier asked me how the food was and I simply made a recommendation that the sandwich would be better if a hearty whole grain bread was used, which I asked about when I had ordered and was told it was. She became belligerent and threw my credit card at me, and said that my business was not wanted and to leave. I have been in the service industry for 30+ years and would never respond to a customer In such a rude and arrogant manner. On the rare occasion when customers express negative feedback to me, I thank them for their feedback and use it as a opportunity to learn and improve. read more

I have lived here for two years and I had never been to this gem. Some co-workers took me last week, and I loved it. I had the chicken salad sandwich, and it was delicious. I cannot wait to take my family there, because I know they will love it, too. There seemed to be something for everyone on the menu. I would also add, our server was wearing a mask, and they had people seating at every other table, so it was definitely socially distanced. I didn't feel uncomfortable eating there at all, safety wise. As far as service went, our server was friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back. read more

I wanted to like this place. It is adorable on the inside and the service was pretty good. But the food is WAY below average for a high price. I had a Mediterranean salad with chicken. Boy was it a huge disappointment at a premium price ($16 before tip). The lettuce was a mix of iceberg and bad Romain and tasted like a plastic bag and was a very small serving. The tomatoes were tasteless and not ripe and sliced in rounds as if for a sandwich. The olives were terrible and old. The feta was clearly some bargain variety of tasteless origin. The chicken was that crap that you buy at the grocery store in pieces already cooked and shrink wrapped. The balsamic dressing was fair to average---but definitely mass bottled dressing and not house made. Nothing about this salad was fresh, nothing was tasty, nothing was made in house. I would have given it one star but the staff was polite, courteous and the bathroom was sort of clean. read more

Disappointed that previous complaints were true. No one social distances and no one wears a mask. Also, I think it's very poor taste for a business to promote their political views. I don't care what side you're on, it shouldn't be shoved in patrons faces. We are there to shop or eat locally, not for political associations.
