Thai Orchid isn't hard to find, as it's right on the main drag. At first glance, I'd guess this used to be an old school Pizza Hut, or at least the construction and layout remind of the Pizza Huts I remember from the 1980s. My biggest gripe from the experience here was speed of service -- because everything moved at a snail's pace. Ordering, getting food, getting drink refills, getting the check...it all took far too long. I would be less disturbed by this if the restaurant had been unusually busy or otherwise overwhelmed during my visit, but not so. The food I received was reasonably good, not spectacular but more than suitable. My first selection was for spring rolls and once they (finally) arrived they were indeed warm and pretty well made. The outer wrapper of each was burnt a bit on one end, but not a huge effect from that other than visual. I followed up with seafood fried rice at a #2 level of spiciness, and I was rewarded with a heaping plate. Still, the dish was missing something; everything was cooked fine, but the flavor outside of the spice level fell a bit flat. I wouldn't completely cross Thai Orchid off my list, but better Thai food certainly exists. And this should not be your choice of dining options if you're in a rush or trying to keep a tight schedule! read more

Picked up drunken noodles and a thai iced tea with cream from Thai Orchard for lunch today and this was honestly really good. The noodles were flavorful without being too heavy, the chicken was tender, and the vegetables still had some texture instead of being overcooked. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned with just the right amount of spice. I hadn't eaten all day and this definitely hit the spot. Solid portion size too. I'd order this again. read more

We were in the area for a soccer game, and ended up coming in at a really strange time on a Saturday, 4:40pm or so. Forgot it was valentines day, and the early crowd swarmed the place right as we got there. They were running a bit behind, but to be honest it wasn't that bad. We probably waited 30m for our food at our table, but when it did come out it was fresh, hot and very good. The crab Rangoons were super hot to the touch, delicate and crispy and delicious. My 14 yo daughter got the drunken noodles with beef, my wife god the pad Thai, and I got the Thai soup. Everyone was very happy with it and it was all nice, fresh, and hot when we got it. Place was packed by the time we finished eating and headed out. I'd forgotten it was valentines day anyway so not sure if that is normal traffic at 4:45 on a Saturday or what, but they were hopping by the time we left around 5:45-6. Great food. Unassuming location and decor but absolutely delicious food! Every dish I have had here has been well made- never dry, tough, or bland. Presentation is always beautiful with orchids as garnish and some chicken dishes on a smoking iron dish. Staff is always friendly. One waitstaff lady spoke Thai so we could converse some with my broken Thai language! Best Thai restaurant in Aberdeen and I highly recommend it! read more

Best thai food I have had in the area. Over multiple visits it is consistently good. Some of the dishes are not exactly right but it probably is hard to source some things. Most people probably wouldn't notice the difference. After living in Bangkok for years, I am picky so that that into consideration. read more

I've been in North Carolina for quite some time now, I love trying new Asian restaurants just to see the authenticity of how they make their dishes. There are about three restaurants that I love but will not be sharing in this post. This restaurant unfortunately has not made the top three. I love how fast we were sat, server was a young boy who was great, and the area in which we sat was pretty clean and the overall look was nice. My fiancé and I ordered the drunken noodles one with chicken and one with tofu, an appetizer of the Thai dumplings and egg rolls. The appetizers were good but the main dish was absolutely not good. My husband and I were in the area for business and decided to have lunch here. We got there right at opening the restaurant was empty but got busy as we sat and ate and they do a lot of takeout orders so I would just keep in mind you may have a wait and if you do it will be completely worth it! The ambiance is very nice, it was clean and great for intimate dining or dining with a group. The staff was so kind, the lady who sat us and waited on us was very attentive even as she was attending to 6 tables and takeout orders over the phone. you can tell the establishment is ran very well. This place is a hidden gem! A friend recommended it and we finally tried last weekend! It is delicious! It is conveniently located off of highway 1! You get a ton of food for the price! We love Thai Orchid! We're always happy when we leave after a meal there. Be brave, try all the dishes. My husband frequently gets Pad See Ew, one of his favorites. Also the Bangkok Chicken which is yummy. I've always liked the Penang Chicken Curry, Coconut soup and Mango Sticky Rice for desert. It's all very good whatever you try. My husband and I go here often. We are never disappointed with our meals. I really like the Panang curry and the coconut soup but have branched out and everything we order is very satisfying. Food was great as was atmosphere. We tried a few appetizers and Thai dumplings won reviews. Calamari looked great at another table but we didn't want to overdue it. Husband tried soup and a garlic dish which was very good with not too heavy sauce. Penang curry was a winner. Only deduction was from service. Hostess was our server and couldn't care less about us. This is one of the best restaurants we've found in or out of North Carolina. The food is consistently excellent and the service is great. We typically get the Panang Curry with Tofu and it's always wonderful. This is an excellent place if you are vegan or gluten free. I have celiacs and have never had a problem eating here, just be sure to double check if you're unsure about an item. The portions are large so we typically share 1 for 2 people. Their steamed vegetables are always perfectly cooked so we ask for extra. When dining in we hear an absurd number of call in orders for their Pad Thai; so I would assume that is good as well. If you're in the area you definitely need to stop here. read more

Very unfortunate that they have OK food but their takeout service is terrible. They are never on time and leave you waiting in the dining room often 20 minutes after the 20 to 30 minute wait that you have already been told. This has happened multiple times and it is enough to convince me to take my business elsewhere. Update: the gentleman working the counter said i "pronounced" my fiancé's name wrong and the food was actually there getting cold the whole time. On the plus side , it's Thai food in Aberdeen NC, which seems to be a novelty, and I'm doubtful any of the staff are Thai if they were confused by my request for sweet chili sauce for my spring roll. Who passes out spring rolls and never heard of sweet chili sauce? They brought me the red death chili paste instead. Very expensive- $10 to $15 for lunch. But very clean and nice ambiance. This towns fanciest restaurant, probably., Since it's my first time I tried the Pad Thai. Fresh, but very little sauce, which is the cornerstone for a good Pad Thai. I'll be back because it's still better than a bad Chinese buffet, but compared to the great authentic Thai available in Fayetteville, it's not quite up to par. read more

I've shown up to locked doors several times. Anyway, Thai Orchid is one of the best reasonably-priced restaurants in the area. I've definitely had better Thai food but only in big cities. Almost every meal comes with your choice of mean/seafood, tofu, or mixed vegetables. The Panang curry is my favorite entree.
