Thai Orchid isn't hard to find, as it's right on the main drag. At first glance, I'd guess this used to be an old school Pizza Hut, or at least the construction and layout remind of the Pizza Huts I remember from the 1980s. My biggest gripe from the experience here was speed of service -- because everything moved at a snail's pace. Ordering, getting food, getting drink refills, getting the check...it all took far too long. I would be less disturbed by this if the restaurant had been unusually busy or otherwise overwhelmed during my visit, but not so. The food I received was reasonably good, not spectacular but more than suitable. My first selection was for spring rolls and once they (finally) arrived they were indeed warm and pretty well made. The outer wrapper of each was burnt a bit on one end, but not a huge effect from that other than visual. I followed up with seafood fried rice at a #2 level of spiciness, and I was rewarded with a heaping plate. Still, the dish was missing something; everything was cooked fine, but the flavor outside of the spice level fell a bit flat. I wouldn't completely cross Thai Orchid off my list, but better Thai food certainly exists. And this should not be your choice of dining options if you're in a rush or trying to keep a tight schedule! read more

Picked up drunken noodles and a thai iced tea with cream from Thai Orchard for lunch today and this was honestly really good. The noodles were flavorful without being too heavy, the chicken was tender, and the vegetables still had some texture instead of being overcooked. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned with just the right amount of spice. I hadn't eaten all day and this definitely hit the spot. Solid portion size too. I'd order this again. read more

Thai Orchid Restaurant - Drunken noodles with chicken spice level 2 - Thai Near Me - Aberdeen, North Carolina

We were in the area for a soccer game, and ended up coming in at a really strange time on a Saturday, 4:40pm or so. Forgot it was valentines day, and the early crowd swarmed the place right as we got there. They were running a bit behind, but to be honest it wasn't that bad. We probably waited 30m for our food at our table, but when it did come out it was fresh, hot and very good. The crab Rangoons were super hot to the touch, delicate and crispy and delicious. My 14 yo daughter got the drunken noodles with beef, my wife god the pad Thai, and I got the Thai soup. Everyone was very happy with it and it was all nice, fresh, and hot when we got it. Place was packed by the time we finished eating and headed out. I'd forgotten it was valentines day anyway so not sure if that is normal traffic at 4:45 on a Saturday or what, but they were hopping by the time we left around 5:45-6. Great food. Place was clean and nice, staff was great. read more

Unassuming location and decor but absolutely delicious food! Every dish I have had here has been well made- never dry, tough, or bland. Presentation is always beautiful with orchids as garnish and some chicken dishes on a smoking iron dish. Staff is always friendly. One waitstaff lady spoke Thai so we could converse some with my broken Thai language! Best Thai restaurant in Aberdeen and I highly recommend it! read more

The Thai Orchid has been in business for many years. Back in the early 2000's I used to take one of my top customers here once a month for lunch. All 4 of us would get their chicken fried rice heat rated from 1-10 and on my, it was always spot on. I wish they were closer to me read more

Best Thai food in the Sand Hills! Thai dumplings are delicious. KraPow is spiced to perfection; Choo Chee fish is out of this world. And their mango sticky rice tops anything off perfectly. Clean and welcoming atmosphere; staff are all super. read more

Love the place. The food is excellent. The staff was kind and inviting. We will return.

Best thai food I have had in the area. Over multiple visits it is consistently good. Some of the dishes are not exactly right but it probably is hard to source some things. Most people probably wouldn't notice the difference. After living in Bangkok for years, I am picky so that that into consideration. read more

Nice atmosphere with good service pricing was fair and the food was excellent. If you're in the Southern Pines area it's definitely worth a stop. read more

Best Thai restaurant we've experienced in the area. Only visited a couple. I was surprised by how good it was in the location but nonetheless ir is highly recommended and if you're a fan of Bangkok chicken... I've never had better. read more

Food was ok. Service was extremely slow considering they were not that busy. First time there and doubt I'll go back.

Wow! What a find!!! The service, the food, the gorgeous ambiance. I was welcomed so warmly and treated like royalty! I had the house salad with the peanut dressing and it was so fresh and the dressing was delicious. The hot Thai tea was yummy and the Pad See Ew was amazing! read more

I've been in North Carolina for quite some time now, I love trying new Asian restaurants just to see the authenticity of how they make their dishes. There are about three restaurants that I love but will not be sharing in this post. This restaurant unfortunately has not made the top three. I love how fast we were sat, server was a young boy who was great, and the area in which we sat was pretty clean and the overall look was nice. My fiancé and I ordered the drunken noodles one with chicken and one with tofu, an appetizer of the Thai dumplings and egg rolls. The appetizers were good but the main dish was absolutely not good. It was the most saltiest drunken noodle I've had in my life. I almost gagged everytime I took a bite and tried to swallow it. In the end I just stopped eating and drank my coke over ice read more

My husband and I were in the area for business and decided to have lunch here. We got there right at opening the restaurant was empty but got busy as we sat and ate and they do a lot of takeout orders so I would just keep in mind you may have a wait and if you do it will be completely worth it! The ambiance is very nice, it was clean and great for intimate dining or dining with a group. The staff was so kind, the lady who sat us and waited on us was very attentive even as she was attending to 6 tables and takeout orders over the phone. you can tell the establishment is ran very well. The food was great, our favorite was the coconut soup. it was a fantastic over all experience that we would return for. read more

Thai Orchid Restaurant - Tomkha "coconut based soup with chicken" Pineapple fried rice Pad thai noodles - Thai Near Me - Aberdeen, North Carolina

The food is authentic, aesthetically pleasing, and delicious. Plenty of options to choose. Service is consistent, friendly, helpful and timely. The dining area is clean, serviceable, and shows effort in decorating with an Eastern feel. Portions are large- plenty for two. Take out is available. Asian beers are on the menu. Level of spiciness is adjustable by "stars" 0-1 being mild, 5 being Thai hot. Recommended. read more

Great Thai food especially the spring rolls! The pineapple sweet and sour dish with chicken has lots of vegetables and sauce. Very generous servings for the price. Service is always very friendly and they remember you each visit! read more

The duck smothered in red curry sauce was quite good. Friendly staff and a full menu.

This place is a hidden gem! A friend recommended it and we finally tried last weekend! It is delicious! It is conveniently located off of highway 1! You get a ton of food for the price! The staff is so friendly, fun, and attentive! We tried the Tom kha soup, the noodle soup, and the garlic chicken! The noodle soup did not have quite as much flavor as I would've hoped but everything else was great! This spot will be our new Sunday tradition for sure! The best part is all of the leftovers read more

Great food and service! The crew are dope AF. I'd definitely recommend this place. I go here a few times a month

Great takeout...red and green curry, duck, spring rolls. Will order over and over whenever I make it back to Pinehurst.

Fabulous. Delicious food. Nice service. Would recommend. Sushi excellent. Thai divine. Go for it!

Best thai ever! Chicken pad thai, chicken masuman, peanut chicken. All bangers. Local place, nice folks.

We love Thai Orchid! We're always happy when we leave after a meal there. Be brave, try all the dishes. My husband frequently gets Pad See Ew, one of his favorites. Also the Bangkok Chicken which is yummy. I've always liked the Penang Chicken Curry, Coconut soup and Mango Sticky Rice for desert. It's all very good whatever you try. Oh, and the people taking care of you are always welcoming, efficient and friendly. The space itself is always clean and very pleasant. read more

Great place with very friendly staff and excellent food! Every thing is made with fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed a beer from Thailand and the garlic sauce with chicken. My wife had the brown sauce with vegetables and tofu. Both meals were very good as was the spring roll appetizer. read more

Food was great as was atmosphere. We tried a few appetizers and Thai dumplings won reviews. Calamari looked great at another table but we didn't want to overdue it. Husband tried soup and a garlic dish which was very good with not too heavy sauce. Penang curry was a winner. Only deduction was from service. Hostess was our server and couldn't care less about us. We savored our meal and enjoyed our dinner in spite of her but will not be back. We decided we would not go back due to so many delays ther great choices in the area. Takeout seemed a big demand also. read more

My husband and I go here often. We are never disappointed with our meals. I really like the Panang curry and the coconut soup but have branched out and everything we order is very satisfying. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you've never tried Thai food you should go. We know that when we go we always leave full, happy and in my case, with leftovers. Oh, and the chairs have wheels, the best! It's a very comfortable restaurant. read more

The owner always welcomes us with a smile and stops at our table to say "hello". The restaurant is filled with beautiful artifact from from Thailand. The food is consistently hot, delicious and served beautifully. Hands down the best Asian cuisine in Southern Pines. Veggie egg-rolls and Panang Curry were my favorite. Spice level can be all over the place from dish to dish. Pad Thai was a bit bland. read more

Food was good but when I got the bill I asked if they offered a military discount. They said yes but did not apply it.

This is one of the best restaurants we've found in or out of North Carolina. The food is consistently excellent and the service is great. We typically get the Panang Curry with Tofu and it's always wonderful. This is an excellent place if you are vegan or gluten free. I have celiacs and have never had a problem eating here, just be sure to double check if you're unsure about an item. The portions are large so we typically share 1 for 2 people. Their steamed vegetables are always perfectly cooked so we ask for extra. When dining in we hear an absurd number of call in orders for their Pad Thai; so I would assume that is good as well. If you're in the area you definitely need to stop here. read more

Great food and very friendly service. This is a must stop when I am in town!!! Drunken Noodles and Veggies in brown sauce are my favorites!

Very unfortunate that they have OK food but their takeout service is terrible. They are never on time and leave you waiting in the dining room often 20 minutes after the 20 to 30 minute wait that you have already been told. This has happened multiple times and it is enough to convince me to take my business elsewhere. Update: the gentleman working the counter said i "pronounced" my fiancé's name wrong and the food was actually there getting cold the whole time. Absolutely terrible service and he actually blamed the customer for his mistake is insane! read more

We tried the red and green curry and it was delicious! We got take out so I can't speak much to the service but it took 15-20 mins for the food to be ready and everything was excellent and decently priced. Will def go back! read more

Another fantastic dinner! Great service, light hearted banter, remembering who we are and preferences!

I had the chili curry with tofu and veggies. It was a busy Friday night and all the tables were full so I ordered takeout but there was a nice atmosphere and delicious smells inside. I would like to come back when it's not so busy and dine in. The food tasted great and I ate it with chopsticks which is always fun. read more

On the plus side , it's Thai food in Aberdeen NC, which seems to be a novelty, and I'm doubtful any of the staff are Thai if they were confused by my request for sweet chili sauce for my spring roll. Who passes out spring rolls and never heard of sweet chili sauce? They brought me the red death chili paste instead. Very expensive- $10 to $15 for lunch. But very clean and nice ambiance. This towns fanciest restaurant, probably., Since it's my first time I tried the Pad Thai. Fresh, but very little sauce, which is the cornerstone for a good Pad Thai. I'll be back because it's still better than a bad Chinese buffet, but compared to the great authentic Thai available in Fayetteville, it's not quite up to par. read more

I love this place. They want to make sure you get what you want sometimes it is just something g special fur you

Warning: This place is closed at random times. Even their posted hours are not always correct. It might be worth calling ahead to ensure that they're open. I've shown up to locked doors several times. Anyway, Thai Orchid is one of the best reasonably-priced restaurants in the area. I've definitely had better Thai food but only in big cities. Almost every meal comes with your choice of mean/seafood, tofu, or mixed vegetables. The Panang curry is my favorite entree. Be sure to get a Thai salad with your meal; it's pretty simple, but the peanut dressing is fantastic. read more
