Hands down our favorite sushi restaurant. Everything we have tried we end up loving! Our favorite is spicy dancing Kani! Yum!

    Avocado salad...minus the caviar

Went in for lunch. Reasonably priced and nice potions off the lunch menu. Had a bit of a language barrier with the wait staff, but worked out in the end. Ordered the edamame beans to start and the Avocado salad. All was fresh and there was quite a bit of avocado on the salad. For 5 bucks, not bad considering an avocado costs a dollar plus right now (sorry, that's my chef side speaking). Entree ordered was the Unagi Don (broiled eel over rice). The garnishes added were a nice touch, and they really don't have to do it, but they do. The cost of the garnishes is quite high, but it sets them apart. Great little place, and even though it's a standard Japanese menu...you can sense that they care.

You must try the Bagel roll - it's amazing! Fresh salmon, served warm - better then I've ever had. Also enjoyed soup, tempura veggies and shrimp. Bonus for us is supporting a small family business- their young son greater us and helped serve. Just love seeing the huddle and wife team. Don't hesitate to give them a try - looked like they do a big takeout biz too!

    Tuna sashimi

I've been here about 15 times now over the last few months. I come frequently for lunch and I've been a few times for dinner. I've tried most things on the menu. This place is 4 stars for Pinehurst Japanese food. The avocado salad is very good and high quality for the price. I recommend the miso soup and the gyoza dumplings. The lunch specials are tasty and very good value (8-9 dollars and includes rice plus either soup or salad). I would avoid the chicken, it's very tough and chewy and gristly. I got it twice and won't get it again. The steak is good. The sushi and sashimi are nicely plated and the fish tastes and appears to be fresh. The service is friendly and polite. I recommend this place for the lunch specials and it's a decent place to get sushi for dinner.

I ordered the eel bowl, ramen, dumplings, and a coffee and everything hit in its own way. The eel bowl was the star for me. The glaze was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and the eel was tender with just the right amount of richness. The edamame and pickled veggies kept it from feeling heavy, which I appreciated. The ramen was creamy and flavorful without being overwhelming. The meat was cooked well and the broth had depth, not just salt. Dumplings were crispy on the outside, soft inside, and paired well with the sauce. Service was smooth, food came out fresh, and the presentation was clean and thoughtful. You can tell they care about what they're putting out. Only thing I'd say is if you're sensitive to richer broths, pace yourself because it's definitely filling. But overall, solid experience. I'd absolutely come back and try more of the menu.

First bite I got the hit of fresh cilantro and crunch from the peanuts, then straight into that crispy chicken--perfectly fried on the outside and still juicy inside. The sauce is sweet, tangy, a little sticky, and so good it should probably come with a warning label. The gluten-free bread held up like a champ under all that goodness, which is a small miracle considering how loaded this thing is. Fair warning: you're going to need extra napkins. It's messy, it's drippy, and it is 100% worth every saucy fingerprint. Service did take a hot minute, but we landed right at noon on a Saturday, so the place was slammed. Even with the wait, I'd order this sandwich again in a heartbeat. If you're anywhere near Moore County, do yourself a favor and get the General Tso Chicken at Roast. Your taste buds will thank you--your shirt might not, but that's what napkins are for.
