I received a flyer of Table 42's menu in the mail. Normally I go to Yelp to check out new restaurants, but this time I blindly called the number on the mailer and put in a take out order. My order? Mozzarella sticks, Margherita pizza, and chocolate mousse cake. The Margherita pizza was pretty good. The tomato sauce was perfect. My only problem with it was that the center of the pizza was kind of soft, while only the crust was crusty. I'm a crust kind of gal, so that's why I was slightly disappointed. The mozzarella sticks were ok. Nothing special. I am sort of picky with the outside fried part of cheese sticks. I like the breading to be spiced and a little thicker. I just know for next time not to get them here. The BEST part was the chocolate mousse cake. This is one of the best I have ever had! They even included strawberries in it. Will I come back? Another "I've driven by this place a hundred times" story ... that ends with "and I'm overjoyed that I finally stopped in". This gem of a restaurant on a well traveled side street is a handsome, yet unassuming storefront. We were greeted and shown to a table. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Started with the fried Calamari which was perfectly prepared and served with a marinara sauce. It was both tender and delicious. The 2 entrees, eggplant parmigiana and rigatoni with onions and bacon were both expertly prepared, delicious and sizable. Overall it was an excellent meal with great service and reasonable prices. Dover is my new destination for restaurants. So many places to choose from and lots of ethnic food, however, the place is American fare connected to a pizzeria. The food was good but nothing beyond that. My friend had the spinach salad with steak. The word on that was it was "a good salad." I got the Joe Nail Pork Chop. I love hot peppers and thought I was in heaven when I saw it on the menu. There is a talent when it comes to using hot or spicy ingredients in a dish. This dish came out with so many hot peppers on it that at first that was all I tasted was hot cherry peppers and that was it. I was also a bit disappointed that my pork chop came out sliced and a bit tough. Nice bar, good entertainment. Service was good...and lots of people there! read more

Excellent pizza! My husband and I are on a mission to find the best pizza near us. We ordered one of their specialty pizzas. It is not just a regular pizzeria pizza. It is artisan quality restaurant pizza. The best we have had so far in Morris County. We are looking forward to a nice dine-in evening to try their entrees. I had dinner at their newly opened space next door called Pizza 42 N Stuff with my parents and husband. First the service is awesome. I'm a total clutz and end up spilling my WHOLE water everywhere and basically wanted to find a hole to hide in. Instead our server was gracious and had it cleaned up right away. She was attentive without being too in your space. We ordered the calamari and garlic knots as appetizers and the knots were fine but the calamari really stood out to me. I love the creature pieces and there were plenty of those mixed in. For dinner we ordered the Grandma Pizza and it was delicious! Just polished off my leftovers this afternoon and it's still great. This is my new go to order in pizza place. Parking was easy, spots out front (if after 6 otherwise those are 1 hour) and a municipal lot in the back. You have to order your drinks at the bar next door in Table 42 and bring them over, not a big deal. Good drink prices as well. TLDR; great service, extremely good pizza, 10/10 will be back read more

Found this place via Yelp and my team and I drove down based on the recommendations. Holy cow! Great food and really good service. The Shrimp Sambuco I had was great, the breadsticks were fresh and warm, and the service was really good. Not one of those sit eat and leave quick places. Meal service was at a good pace to allow for conversation and when one of our party requested a salad after seeing the other members get one they accommodated very quickly to keep the pace of the meal. LOVE this place! the fried raviolis are one of my favorite appetizers along with all of the pasta dishes!! The sangria is by far the best sangria I have ever tasted. Ordered soup, an appetizer, and meat lasagna. 30 minutes go by, soup is served. 45 more minutes go by, now we were there for an hour and fifteen, nothing, no waitress, no manager. We went to the front end, found our waitress, told her we were leaving. Confused she went and got the manager. Both went to the kitchen, found out our order was not being cooked or ready. They just went about their businesses and we left without any explanation and just wondering how a non busy restaurant with no visible wait could lose an order, not come to see how you were, nor seem overly concerned when the patrons tell the, they were leaving. I come here almost every week so it's about time for a review. I've been living in Rockaway for about a year and cannot find too many places with this quality food that is open late. All of the food so far has been delicious. The specials change frequently and they are all great on top of the regular menu. I had a chicken special with prosciutto, eggplant, and fresh mozzarella that was amazing a couple weeks ago. They give bread and veggie/olive mix when you sit down which is a nice starter. My go-to meal is the pasta (whole wheat penne) with garlic and oil with grilled chicken. It is light but also very well seasoned. So I've gone here a handful of times, bar pizza pies are good and semi-decent Italian food. However, the most recent experience was enough to never come back - entirely ignored by a tall older gentleman acting as a host. My friend & I were treated poorly and truly felt profiled. We walked in as a party of 2, and two other party's who came in thereafter were given priority to be seated without any reasoning. The host sat down a party of 7 and another couple before seating my friend & I! He had the nerve to tell us the couple had a reservation when we questioned him, embarrassingly enough the couple ended up casually moving to the bar top (not exactly a reservation at all). Needless to say all the guests given priority were Caucasian and we are Latinas, so we couldn't help but to feel profiled. We left the restaurant immediately knowing that we could not enjoy a meal after being treated lesser than the other guests! I've had dinner at Table 42 a couple of times while visiting my folks in New Jersey, and have had great meals each time. The "rigatoni and cream" with sausage is excellent; you should get this! You wouldn't know it from the description on the menu, but it's pasta served with (what at least tastes like) a really excellent vodka sauce, and an ample amount of your choice of sweet or hot Italian sausage. They also have really good eggplant parmesan, and my dad likes their steaks. There's a wide range of options on the menu, including pastas, pizzas, meat dishes (chicken, veal, steak, and fish/shrimp), and typical Italian desserts. They have gluten-free pasta available, and they are sufficiently careful about cross-contamination; my sister who has celiac disease has eaten there before without having a problem. Table 42 has a full bar, including decent bottles of wine in the $20 - $25 range. There also appear to be some nice happy hour specials in the front part of the restaurant where the bar is located, though I haven't tried these. The service when we visited was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The drawbacks: the prices are on the high side, although they're not atypical for an Italian restaurant in this part of the country with this sort of menu. (Pasta run $13 or so; main dishes $15 - $20). Like most restaurants, the appetizers aren't as good a value as the entrees. (We tried the arancini on our last visit -- risotto balls with some mozzarella in the middle, served with a tomato sauce -- which were very good, but overpriced compared to other dishes at $10.50 for two big balls of rice.) And they serve decent free bread before the meal, but it doesn't come with butter or oil for dipping. read more

Only 2 things: the parking outside only for up to 1 hour or go to the back and pack with meters. The lady room smells really back not sure why? When I brought it to the owners attention he basically defended it even as we told him how and why it is offensive. He was a complete jerk about it. I will never return for that reason. My new go to for good Italian food. All their pasta dishes are excellent. Same with dessert. This another great restaurant in downtown Dover. Try the lasagna or rigatoni with vodka sauce. Nice redone interior. Big long bar on your right as you walk in. Seating in the back away from the bar is nice. It has simple clean lines. Service was very good and personable. The bread was good and crusty. Nice selection of marinated olives with some celery and carrots were also brought out. My wife had the past Bolognese and she enjoyed it.i had the chicken Frances wich was very good. Big portions. My main dish was served with quartered roasted potatoes that were fantastic. Stopped in for dinner on a Monday night and was surprised at how many people were dining (the bartender was surprised too!). There was only one person in there to bartend, take the orders, and run the food and she was training someone, so although we experienced extremely slow service we understood why. We were immediately served bread and a small plate of celery, carrots and olives in olive oil. We were disappointed that the bread was cold, dry and stale. Bread should be served warm. Service was good and personable. We ordered the Firecracker Calamari as an appetizer. It was made from fresh squid and we were delighted to have the tentacles, as most places avoid them. It was delicious! For entrees, we ordered Pork Chops, Salmon, and Shrimp Fra Diavolo. The kitchen accommodated a special order of grilled shrimp with linguine and marinara sauce. The tomato sauces served with the pasta was made from fresh tomatoes. Disappointed that the shrimp was a little overdone making it tough and chewy. It came with 2 clams which was not specified on the menu. Not a fan of clams--it was gritty. Would have preferred more shrimp over the clams. The pork chop was the best meal by far. We got takeout from here and never went to the restaurant. Ordered pizza and calamari, takes over an hour on weekends for delivery. Food arrived cold and seems expensive for what you get.
