***2 1/2 stars*** It's rare that I have a mediocre experience where I actually want to go back to the place to give it another shot. I came here yesterday for a post-Odyssey meal with my top-tier chum from the Kingdom of Sussex around 3:30pm. We found this place by playing one of my favorite games, Yelp Roulette, where you scroll through the nearby activity feed and just pick a place that shows up on there. You can really get burned doing that, or find an interesting spot you wouldn't have otherwise stumbled upon. This one was a little column A, a little column B. The overall space is what Norte 175 really has going for it - it's a really cool building, and they've done some edgy interior decorating. It's super spacious and definitely a place I could see myself coming back for drinks in the future. My chum got a margarita but I'm in training so had to forego - arguably, maybe that was the issue; comparing notes, the drink was probably the best item either of us had, and I didn't get it. And it IS a tequila bar. I did get a diet soda, which had solid carbonation, so there's that at least. Neither of us were insanely hungry (we had a bit of fuel before our three-hour movie screening) so we split three apps - the guac, the chicken quesadilla and the grilled octopus. None of them were particularly noteworthy. Palate preference, but the guac had way too much stuff in it for me; I like a smooth, avocado-forward guac, not obscenely chunky with tons of onions guac. The octopus was not the best - texture is really important with that dish, and this one was way too chewy. The accompanying sauce didn't do enough to negate that for me. And the quesadilla was just okay; a bit bland and could probably use some kind of aioli sauce in it, or perhaps more seasoning overall with the chicken. It was fine and the best of the three, which sadly isn't saying much. We also got the raspberry lemon mousse cake (well, pretty much I did - my chum had literally one bite to be polite). As you can see from the attached, it doesn't look like anything like its stock photo on the menu, which is worth noting - still looks fine but given how different it looks in person, arguably false advertising on some level. If you're thinking about getting it, I'd rely on customer photos versus the menu if the optics are important to you. Tasty but a little too sweet - they doubled down, essentially, on the tartness, which made it a bit overwhelming, but I could easily see a lot of people being into this. The service was just okay. Our waitress did stop by occasionally but just didn't seem to be in a great mood. It honestly felt like a bit of an imposition to ask her for anything. Obviously could have just been having a bad day, but when your primary responsibility is hospitality dot dot dot. She wasn't mean by any stretch but I just wouldn't categorize her as pleasant. Is what it is. This place could really benefit from its location, literally five minutes from the Rockaway Mall - and this isn't an area with an enormous amount of options beyond the chains, so they have a legit opportunity to cash in if they can improve the food options. 5 Star for the Food 1 star for the service. I work across the street which is a 10 minute walk from our office. Arrive a 12:30pm. This is prime lunch time. This place is not prepared for more then 2 tables. took 30 minutes to get our drinks, 45 minutes to get our food. Hamburgers and Tacos. not a complicated order. 45 minutes to wait for food and they got my order wrong. I ordered Fish Tacos, saw the waitress (bar tender) write it down. Not sure how it translated to a salad??? So had to send it back and wait 20 more minutes to get my "Fish Tacos" (came out as "Shrimp Tacos"). Had to get it to go since it was over and hour and we had to get back to work. Party of 5, and I had to watch everyone eat and then I had to carry my lunch in a to go bag and eat it when I got back to the office. I kow there is good reviews listed but that must obviously be when the are fully staffed at night. Their staff today 6/16/2026. One server, Bartender, and chef. That is very poor management. multiple parties walked in while we were sitting and watch them take 15 to 20 minutes to be seated. This was the 3rd time we tried this place for lunch and it always takes 30 to 45 minutes to get food. Will be the last and we always tell our Corporate coworkers to NOT go there becuse it take way to long. You can go to Reno's right down the street with 10 people and each lunch with in an hour. Came here on a Friday night about 1030, 11 pm looking for some food while in the area. There was plenty of parking in the parking lot so I was expecting much. I came into a completely empty spot. Besides myself, at the bar, there was a group of 4 women and the staff. I asked if the kitchen was still open and lucky for me it was. I sat down and ordered. I got a lemon drop martini and a chicken sandwich with fries. It was like steak fries and the chicken sandwich lacked flavor. Despite being the only person there, service was mediocre. Been here many times, can't believe I haven't left a review yet! While a little expensive, the food is pretty good. Some of my favorites are the crispy chicken sandwich, jalapeños poppers, yucca cheese balls, and their burgers are pretty good. They used to do chips and salsa to start but last time we went they did not. They host trivia on Thursdays and I just saw on instagram they have a new happy hour menu for during the week. Most of the time I've been here during the week it's been quiet with only a few tables occupied, but gets slightly busier on the weekends. I met up with my besties and had the best evening! I started with a passion fruit speciality cocktail and enjoyed the free chips and salsa. There is a full bar which is huge and can make any drink you wish. They have some excellent specialty cocktails. We ordered the guacamole and chips before ordering delicious entrees. We also got the corn and split it so we had room for dinner. I had the rib eye special with a chimichurri sauce, spinach mashed potatoes, and veggies. The steak was perfectly medium rare and the sauce was perfection. I never had spinach mash before but felt good about getting some extra iron in my carbs. I didn't love the zucchini, (weird taste) but the other veggies were fine. My friend picked the burger and fries to satisfy their beef craving. The fries were crispy and perfect while my friend said her burger was excellent. Other friend went for the salmon and veggies, she enjoyed it and had to bring some home because it was a big serving. Last friend got the chicken rice bowl special and opted for grilled chicken instead of fried. They were super accommodating about making changes so we had exactly what we wanted. Again, big portion so she is excited to have lunch tomorrow. The music is very lively and the service is excellent. Be sure to stop in but do make reservations. We decided to grab dessert and had the lemon raspberry cake plus some of the homemade sorbet. One cappuccino and a cup of tea made us all happy and we enjoyed a nice leisurely meal. Was trying to find a new restaurant for dinner Saturday n came upon Norte 175 n had good reviews so thought we'd give it a try. A gem in Wharton. Nice restaurant looks like a warehouse from outside but inside looks good w high ceilings. Has a pond w a fountain at the back which was enjoyed by those dining outside. Valet parking. Friendly welcoming staff. Not that crowded at all. They brought out tri color chips w a tasty salsa for table. We had the strawberry mango salad n calamari. Salad was beautifully presented n was v good. Had a nice dressing n generous amounts of strawberries mango pieces n caramelized walnuts. The calamari was tasty too. Had two dipping sauces. For entrees had the eggplant parmigiana n the special rigatoni pasta w shrimp. Lil bit disappointed w eggplant parmigiana as it was dry n wasn't covered w sauce. But it tasted good. Last night was the first time I've been back to this location since it was the old Hot Rods. It's still a very cool vibe inside with a beautiful bar. It was a quiet Thursday night so no issue walking in and getting a table. Service was very good. Norte has an excellent drink menu. I went with an espresso martini, my wife and stepson had margaritas. I had a taste of my wife's blackberry margarita and it was delicious! We started off with an appetizer of nachos with chicken. I liked this more than the tacos I ordered for an entree. My wife had a salad with strawberries that looked great, and my stepson had the pulled pork grilled cheese. The dessert menu looked fantastic, but we skipped it for this night. It's good to see this spot back open. One last thing...valet parking only. read more

Met with my friends for an early after work bite. The service was phenomenal!! The margaritas were really good (albeit small), the food was...meh. I had the shrimp tacos. they were just ok, 3 tacos, itty bitty shrimp, more tortilla than anything. I expected more for 21$ but whatever. I'd like to come back and try again but I'm not sure it will be for awhile. Side note, I'm not sure the need for valet for seating at 430 on a thursday?? Came here on Thursday with my wife (who was the first to review ) and had a wonderful dinner! Food: my wife ended up getting a paloma which she really enjoyed for her drinks. As an appetizer, we started with pepper jack mac & cheese which was pretty solid. For dinner she got shrimp pastor tacos which tasted pretty awesome (always a fan of Al pastor) and I got a Sussex meat burger which was out of this world, but I thought was a little bit expensive for having no fries or side. Service: our waitress Ana was amazing, taking care of everyone quickly and was super patient with everyone. Aesthetic: the bar is a really nice feature and very well stocked. Brunch Experience at Norte 175 I organized an F1 Race Sunday brunch @ Norte 175 with a group of six friends. We called the day before to confirm that in fact they would have ESPN HD and they actually took the time to confirm that they would. Two thumbs up for that. Having visited this restaurant for dinner multiple times, we were excited to explore their brunch offerings, which provide a refreshing change from typical breakfast fare. Norte 175 offers a vibrant and inviting bar-restaurant tmosphere that pairs perfectly with its interesting food combinations. We arrived just before opening as the race started at noon and while it's understandable that restaurants need time to get started, I would recommend arriving a bit later. Menu Highlights Taco Pancakes: This dish was a standout for me, featuring excellent thick bacon strips that complemented the pancakes beautifully. Huevos Rancheros: My partner and several others in our group ordered this, and they all praised the good flavors and quality of the top-shelf meat and sausages. However, the eggs were slightly overcooked, likely because they sat a bit too long before being served. Paella: One member of our group ordered the paella and appreciated its freshness, which added to the overall positive dining. experience. Our member, born in the UK, had the breakfast burrito and commented it was "good". It looked good, but I'm not sure we can trust the opinion of an authentic breakfast burrito to someone who would have prefered bangers and mash. Beverages - hey it's brunch! The group enjoyed some killer Bloody Marys, and a fantastic peach bellini and well crafted mimosas. All very tasty and perfectly mixed. For appetizers we had guacamole (that was fresh) served with chips. Our group tends to like a bit more spice and garlic in our guac. The spice was quickly rectified when we asked for a salsa with more heat. All the salsas appear to be made in the kitchen, and the hot (green chili) salsa was definitely fresh and spicey. The only downside of our visit was the wait time; the food took longer to arrive than expected, and a few plates were not served piping hot. It's evident that the kitchen needs time to hit its stride, but appear to get better as they got busy. Our server(s) did the the best they could, checking on the food and drinks, and were knowledgeable about the menu. I'd give them an "A" for effrort. Pricing This is not where you go for $4 Taylor Ham, egg and cheese sandwich or monster stack of buttermilk pancakes. The prices are more than fair for the quality and unique flavor of the food. Overall, Norte 175 is a great spot for a unique brunch, but I would advise diners to visit a little after opening to allow the team time to get everything up and running smoothly. The quality of the food, combined with a unique menu, makes this restaurant a worthy choice for your next interesting brunch outing. read more

We tried the pineapple mango guacamole (delicious and fresh), Tuna tartare, and tostones and everything was so good. The guac was definitely my favorite, and I want to try their bacon and corn guac! Entrees we got a mix of everything - tacos, sandwiches, pastas, and steak and everyone had only positive things to say. My shrimp & chorizo orzo was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend. For dessert we got the Nutella empanadas and we licked the plate clean. Overall, such a great spot. My only "negative" comment was the red sangria was not too good. My favorite appetizer was the Coconut Shrimp, the Grilled Skirt Steak was cooked to perfection, & the Tres Leches Cake was one of the best I've ever had. They also have a wild selection of cocktails. Open less than a month, Norte 175 on North Main Street in Wharton, is a bit of a hipster venue with an interesting vibe. Live music and a focus on craft cocktails and a menu of burgers, tacos, wood-fired pizza. Our server Noah went out of his way to welcome us and be helpful. I started with the Steamed Clams w/ White Wine, Garlic & Parsley. Spices were a great blend with the tasty clams. Loved this as a starter. For our mains, we tried the Main Street Burger & the Chipolte Wedge Salad. Both missed the mark, as the burger was over-cooked and the Bun was kinda crusty, not sure if it was not fresh but it was blah. Now the Chipolte Wedge was a miscalculation on my part. The most effective way to ruin a perfect wedge salad is dousing it with a spicy, pedestrian Chipolte dressing. Stick with what makes the Wedge Salad a winner, lots of bacon and Blue Cheese Dressing! I think this place may be just going through some growing pains, and is trying to hard to make its menu different. I would not be afraid to give it another chance! read more

1st time eating here. An absolutely terrible experience !!! There was no one at door when we arrived, and had to wait more than 5 minutes until a hostess decided to wander over to the front door so we could be seated. Food was a joke. Cheap on the chips, half filled bowl for a table of four. Ordered Coconut Shimp as an appetizer after we asked our waiter how many came with an order, he said 6. When it arrived there were only 5, Ceasar Salad was joke, lettuce was just dumped on the plate with chicken dumped on top. Tacos were even worse. 1/2 filled with chicken / "steak" / fish (3 different orders), no lettuce on the side (as in their pics), and the cole slaw slide was again 1/2 filled and one of us had to ask for it as it was left off the plate. Tortillas, which were flour not corn as advised, fell apart when they were picked up, so we had to eat them with a fork. $20+ for Tacos, which were no better than those at Taco Bell, seems ridiculous. When we received our check, they charged for a higher priced wine than what we had, plus they added an up charge to the bill as well, and it was not noted anywhere that we could find. $180 for 1 appetizer, 4 terrible meals, 4 drinks, tax & tip. They will never see us again, and would advise the same for anyone even thinking about going there. read more

For appetizers, we shared the guacamole (delicious, though more chips would have been appreciated!), octopus, wings, and a flavorful shrimp and chorizo orzo dish (entree) all quite good. Our main courses were mostly impressive: well-cooked salmon, tender skirt steak, succulent ribs (good but not fall off the bone if that matters to you), and a flavorful ribeye. Even the pizza my nephew ordered was a decent choice. We finished with a delightful dessert spread of cheesecake, churros, and sorbet. While our primary server was adequate, another staff member was exceptionally attentive and helpful, really enhancing our experience. I was skeptical of this place as I am with every new place, but I was SUPER impressed and pleasantly surprised with my experience here. The waiter we had and bartender was so nice and attentive. We ordered the key lime pie and I forgot to mention my dad's raspberry allergy; he brought it out and had no problem taking it back to give us a new dessert without raspberry drizzle. The burger was SO GOOD like super smokey and juicy, just wish I asked for spicy mayo or something. Wings could've been more hot but still really good even at room temp. Around the table was the fish tacos (said to be delicious- I didn't try), Steak tacos very good, ribeye was delicious, but the star of the night was the skirt steak.
