Ok, it's kinda silly but we freaking love this place for a variety of reasons. We've been here 4 weeks in a row! Love the live music after 8 p.m. They also have karaoke and other fun activities. Every member of the wait staff are so friendly and helpful. They look like they enjoy working together and making it a fun dining experience for the customer. Luke is especially funny and made us LoL throughout the evening. Last week we went with the Pot of Gold and Red Winter Sangria for drinks to celebrate St. Patrick's. The split pea soup was on point and so yummy! I had that with a corned beef Ruben. Hubby opted for a pear and walnut salad with grilled chicken. Thankfully we share and get a great variety of foods. We started with the Mac & cheese balls as an appy. They weren't bad, but I would try something else instead. This week we brought our daughter with us. New cocktail menu, so I tried the Fig sangria (yum) and hubby went classic Guinness. We shared the boneless wing w/ honey, lime fiber sauce. They have classic sauce and a few options as well. My daughter got the chicken "Carol's wrap" she would get it again minus the onions. Since hubby got a Guinness, he ordered the fish and chips. He thought they were a little greasy, but overall good flavor and batter. I ordered the BBQ chicken flathead. Great sauce, nice carmelized onions and I loved it the next day too! My wife and I were looking for a spot for drinks and appetizers late on a Saturday afternoon in May. I've had The Exchange bookmarked as a place I want to try for quite a long time so we decided to stop in. They were planning for a big party in the back so we sat at the bar which was quiet. The bartenders were very friendly and made for a good vibe. We each had a Jameson & Ginger which was outstanding! A nice pour and a large drink. We ordered potato skins and a quesadilla which were fine. I'd definitely come back here because of the friendly atmosphere. This is a decent spot with an outside sitting area and a large bar. It has bands play there pretty regularly as well. Food is good. Service was good. Nothing wow'ed me that we had but it all was a good standard meal with a good pub-like vibe. We come here regularly. Food and service is always good. I just wanted to post what we recently had. I will say their eggplant and chicken parm's were better than I expected as I don't typically like to get red sauce items out as there always seems to be something missing, but here they were good and I'd get them again. The rainbow cookie egg rolls are phenomenal and I hope they stay on the menu. Rainbow cookies are the only desert my husband will eat so when they put these on he gets them every time now. read more

My husband & I eat here often. The fish tacos, eggplant parm, chicken parm and francais are a few of our favorites. Their red sauce is delicious and i believe homemade. Pricing is fair and they have a good happy hour during the week with food as well as drink specials. The servers are always friendly and attentive. If you can get past the obnoxiously large menu, the food I had is really good. I particularly hate huge menus and this one is just that, I don't know why. I think more people would enjoy it. The food is very fresh, but I would think some of the has to be affected because you can't keep all that food for the whole menu fresh, they must go through a lot. The food was amazing, and Karen was on top of every detail all with a smile & friendly service working the food service, clearing, bartending, packing left overs, and displaying and cutting our cake. The Exchange in Rockaway Boro, NJ is a local hang-out bar and restaurant that I had a dinner meeting at on August 4, 2025. I was genuinely surprised by the sheer size and scope of the menu as it was much, much larger than I had expected. The menu is very broad in its offerings that include appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, fried chicken, steaks of various types and full entrees of chicken marsala, parmigiana, Francaise, piccata, etc. I chose a bar-sized pizza pie but these pies, while decent enough, offer only very limited availability for extra toppings. While this is not fine dining, it is generally decent food across the breadth of the menu. Depending on what you order, or not order as the case may be, I did find many of the prices too high for what is offered, the portion size and quality and in those cases, probably would not order any of the higher priced menu items simply because they are not of a high enough quality to warrant the menu prices. In warmer weather, The Exchange also offers outside dining, which can be quite pleasant if it's not too hot and humid as NJ summer days and nights often are. If you are in the Rockaway Township and Boro areas of Morris County and you don't want to eat just fast food, The Exchange is a better than viable alternative. read more

This past Saturday we attended a family members private birthday party celebration in the downstairs party room. Let me just say , my family members have had many parties here over the years and given The Exchange a lot business over the years with no complaints. But this weekend was Horrible! Upon walking in , there were not enough tables and not enough chairs set up for the appropriate amount of people attending. Not enough napkins/silverware either for the number of guests attending. The food was good , but the service sucked! They didn't have enough food for the amount of people attending. When the 1st round of food was done in sternos, they didn't bring full trays of food to replenish the sternos and instead brought a few pieces of each food; which was not enough for the number of guests . Bread in a basket was also not enough for the amount of people eating. We asked of they could replenish the bread ,as did many other guests. We were told NO, we don't do that usually after the initial basket put out!? Seriously? It is bread not a LOBSTER! Bread is not expensive. Just a flat out NO!? The bartender complained to the DJ it was too loud and to turn down the music. The music was not too loud .She had no right to yell at the DJ , as he was being paid to do a job by the party host! The family member who put together this party witnessed this as did I. As long as the bartender was at the bar working and getting tips she was nice. But whenever it came to getting anything else for guests at tables , she was not quick to respond and seemed agitated all the time. Every guest was respectful and polite to her and patient to a point. When customers have a party with over 30 people , you can't expect one person to handle food, drinks etc you get her help! More assistants would have been the right thing to do. But regardless , no excuse for her behavior. My cousins paid good money for this party for their daughter. They expected good customer service and not to be treated like garbage by your staff member and by the owner who called her this morning blaming her and her guests and calling us "white trash". Really?! This is disrespectful and unprofessional behavior from a business owner. The customer is always right ! Your job is to make them happy. This is not how you do business with long time customers. They have spent thousands of dollars over the years at your establishment for many parties for their children and for themselves. No issues at any of those parties, so that should account for the fact they are good people and are not "white trash" As you stated. Also, the bartender was also was giving out mini Jesus figurines to guests? . YES! She claimed she was a Christian who believed in God, read the Bible and attended church regularly?!. She made a comment she was not" catholic " and didn't attend mass , but did go to her church services and prays. But for someone who is supposed to be a good Christian, she was very judgmental of guests , including the music the DJ was playing that she did not like apparently , so she told him to lower the volume. She also made a comment to one guest , saying she noticed his cross necklace. She then asked if he was Christian and practicing his faith ? Or was he just wearing it as a decoration or for show!? Yes she said that!! I heard her myself as i stood there thinking wow, she has a lot of balls to say that to a person she does not know! She also said she observes the room and notices who is wearing crosses? How is acceptable and professional behavior in the workplace ? How about you clean your bathrooms, and make sure enough toilet supplies in the mens and ladies rooms!? When is the last time you put a mop to the floor in those bathrooms? Or windexed the glass mirrors or scrubbed the toilets and sinks!? How about we call and file a complaint for being unsanitary to the department of health! We may as well call the better business bureau too with complaints! How about you fix the potholes and cracks in your parking lot , so no one slips or falls. That is an accident waiting to happen! A huge liability. How about you take pride in your business and not lie and cheat your customers out of what they paid good money for but only received bare minimum. Apologize for your staffs' mistakes, your misconceptions and misjudgment's. You heard one side of the story and didn't ask your customers their side? My family members will never have a party here ever again! They will never refer anyone to your establishment. I also will not step foot in your establishment ever again. You don't do this to good people and owe these people an apology! read more

I have been having parties at the exchange for the past five years. Never have I've been treated as poorly as I was this past Saturday night for my daughters 25th surprise birthday party. The woman who is working our party was handing out religious statues to my guests. When asked if we could have another utensil setting we were told to look from table to table and see what we could find, and they were complaining about my DJ being too loud because people in the bar upstairs couldn't hear the band when they knew we were having a DJ go along. I had the room from 4 to 8 at 7 o'clock. They took everyone's napkins and was cleaning up the table. The manager Carol confirmed that everything I'm writing in this review was true because she went to her people and they said yes they did do that .I tried to discuss this with the manager by Carol who called me the next day and told me that she listened to all the audio.(don't know how she did that if my music was so loud and I'd like to hear the audio myself.) and basically called me a liar for all my grievances. If I could give this establishment, no stars I would! Used to be a nice place ! I said to Carol I live local, I work in the medical industry, I know a lot of people and word-of-mouth is very important. She told me she didn't care and hung up on me. We had a wonderful event today at The Exchange"s banquet facilities. Food was fantastic!! Only thing better then the food was the hostesses. Very attentive, and very helpful. They made the function run tha much smoother amd made my day that much easier. But did I mention the food...my guests have not stopped reaching out to me saying how muched they loved the food. Decided to stop into one of my favorite lunch spots in the area, Missy's Luncheonette, but due to current restrictions, the wait was longer than we would have liked. I noticed this bar/restaurant across the street and decided to give it a shot. Walking in the place was huge, with tvs everywhere and a nice bar. The menu was massive, and everything looked amazing, but I settled on the bacon and Brie cheeseburger which sounded very interesting. This might have been one of the best burgers I've ever had.. the burger also had a apricot jam spread on the bun, which really made this burger. Not to mention the fries were top notch also. Highly recommend this place and definitely recommend getting the bacon and Brie burger. read more

Pretty decent place to grab a burger and a brew but that's about all. Food here is ok but nothing special and the menu is extremely boring and uninspired. Service is friendly as long as they're not too busy. Live bands play here on some weekends and they have an open mic night during the week. The food is surprisingly and consistently good. Try the stacciatella soup, nachos (with plenty of cheese unlike most places where just the top layer of chips has cheese), grilled salmon salad and burger. I've never had a bad meal. They also have great specials, outdoor dining on the porch, and live music. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because Joanne (bartender/server) needs an attitude adjustment. The staff is fast, conversational and uber friendly. Got there 7:30. Left at midnight. After 7:30 (on a Tuesday night) the venue consistently welcomed more and more customers. I'm a chatty person. Hmmm.. Not a fan of this place... After having drinks at another establishment, we decided to have a bite to eat here and maybe get our sing on. Well, Karaoke wasn't starting until 10, and it being a school night, we were probably gonna not do that. So, our over-anxious server greeted us and we sat at a table, gave her our drink order and waited.... and waited... Place wasn't too busy either, so we were kinda taken by the wait.... But later on, we saw and learned our server was a social butterfly, which confirmed why things took too long... I asked for a Sam Summer and I got the following response, "I'll have to see if we have it because we ran out of it last night..." Soooo, it was after 8pm the next day and you don't know if you have something from the night before? I guess they don't have staff meetings before shifts or the bartender is lazy... Oh well.. But when the drinks came, I had a Sam Summer. We also asked for a round of ice water, that was forgotten about until we reminded her about it a bit later.... We all ordered our meals, and I ordered the California Burger, with fries and asked for a side of bleu cheese dressing. Burger was cooked to order, but it looked like a frozen patty cooked on a flat top.. Not a freshly prepared burger and the guacamole looked like it was scooped out of a jar, and the side of cole slaw was pathetic.... and again, what's up with the fries portion? Have potatoes suddenly become very expensive? And I never got my bleu cheese on the side as ordered... and it was very strange not to get that because of the story the server told me about what bleu cheese is and where it came from. Bottom line, I really wanted to like this place, but they missed with me this night. The bar crowd looks on the younger side, and I'm not a fan of places allowing smoking right outside the door where you exit.. When the door opens, where does the smoke go? Yes, right back in the restaurant and you're forced to walk through the gang of smokers on your way out. Oh, and the bathrooms are VERY small, so be prepared for an awkward experience in them..... But, I will say.. The prices are very good for their meals... Will my wife and I be back.. Maybe.. I'd like to try out the Karaoke, but I don't think I'll go out of my way to come back anytime soon.. read more

I was in town for a wedding and found this little jem on yelp. After reading reviews on the food it sounded like a great place to try for dinner. We were not dissappointed. My mom got the small prime rib and it was sooo huge she barely finished 1/3 of it. I got a filet and it was cooked perfectly and was definitely quality meat. The food was absolutely amazing, the only thing off was the decor. It was just oddly set. There's a great bar area when you come in, but then the dining room was just odd and kind of seemed like an after thought. I would definitely return if I'm ever in the area again! read more

I have been going to the exchange for many years with my sister and her family since she lives in town. Exchange is a great local bar and Grill. The restaurant is basically an old Victorian house where when it's nice out you can sit on the front porch otherwise inside they have a large bar area but also a dining room which is cozy and comfortable. One of the great things about this restaurant is that they cater to children, they have coloring books and a kids menu which is great for my nieces. But they also have great things for adults like a great beer selection and a very wide variety of different types of foods. My father's favorite is the prime rib, I love their pasta and their veggie burger my brother-in-law and my sister love their different salads and their burgers. The service is always fast and friendly, the food is always fresh and delicious. read more

Came here for a birthday dinner with about 15 people and we were given the room where it seems live music is usually held. We had a group of very pleasant and accommodating servers tend to us the entire time. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Club (bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, chicken cutlet, hot sauce) on foccacia with sweet potato fries. It was realllllyyyyy good and the side of sweet potato fries was just the right amount, although I could've liked it a tad crispier. Also ordered Redbull vodkas to go along with my dinner, but I found it fairly sweet and lacking in the "bubbly." For $8.50 a glass, it tasted like drinking a can of Redbull that was left open for a while. Not worth my money, and I should've stuck with whiskey. read more

Sort of yum... This place has your typical American fare. It's nothing special, really, but a cute little restaurant in a town with not much else going on. They have typical salads, wraps, sandwiches, pasta, pretty simple things. Everything is relatively fresh and well-prepared, but again, nothing particular about this place. They have happy hour and sometimes they have fancy night time activities (like a live band or karaoke). Happy hour is nice because drinks are pretty cheap and they have a make-your-own nachos bar on the side (chips, beans, lettuce, salsa, ground beef, cheese, etc.). Perfect way to get a free meal with your drinks! But be warned, grab a lot while you can because no one is scrambling to refill the ingredients as they run out. They always have a few good beers on draft and the staff is really attentive and friendly. read more

Came here to see a friend's Band play. Looked them up on Yelp and saw all the good reviews about the food. So decided to treat myself to some food while watching the band play (they're good - Timelord Smith) Had a local beer on tap - Jersey Girl - expensive. It tasty - and was in the mood for steak after such a disappointment last week. They had a Queen Roast Beef on their special menu. Based on the positive reviews about their food I took a shot and had it. Steak was wonderful !! Good sized portion and excellently cooked. Large enough I had for force myself to finish it !
