I've ordered out from Table 42 three time now. The first time was 4 pizza pies and over all it was ok. However, the last two have been a disappointment. Both time we order penne al la vodka. Both times we also order sandwichws. The chicken parm both times was effectively a breaded chicken patty with tomato sauce. I didn't see any cheese at all. Likewise for the two eggplant parm's. The word parm indicates they'll be mozzarella or some cheese involved, but there was one small problem , we couldn't find any. I should note both times the penne vodka was dry and gummy. While our experience the last two times wasn't great, it would have been manageable because the food tasted ok. What really added insult to injury was paying $21 for what effectively was boiled pasta with a minimal amount of vodka sauce. They charged it as if we were eating in and that frankly isn't right. Dover is a little bit of a gastro wasteland, I was hoping Table 42 food would match the look of establishment, I was disappointed. read more

We ordered a pizza and appetizer for pickup from here for the first time, but it wasn't what we were hoping for. Pros -On a Friday night, the order ETA was reasonable/quick, the food was ready on time, the order was accurate, and the food was hot. If you're going to dine in, the bar area is classy and beautiful (we accidentally walked through, not knowing where the pickup area was). Cons - The pizza didn't taste right. To me, something about the sauce didn't compliment the pizza. The crust was ok, but the overall flavor wasn't what we had hoped for. Also, the topping prices were very high imo. An additional $4 for pepperoni on only 1/2 the pizza is steep. The drive into Dover for us from Rockaway isn't worth it. read more

We've been coming to Table 42 for several years. Service is always top-notch and food is fantastic. My favorites are the rigatoni with sweet or hot sausage (I recommend a mix of both), and the amatriciana, a combination of onions and bacon in a tomato sauce... and don't miss their fabulous grandma pizza. The restaurant has a dining side with a full bar and another area that's more like a pizzeria for quick service. In wold that seems to be filled with corporate owned chains, this locally owned restaurant is a true gem. read more

The place used to be the Laughing Lion in Dover. Should of stayed that way. First cannot say to much about Table 42 is that they play con games with their customers. First, trying the place for the first time and they serve me food that was made the night before to save 2 cents on their already overpriced menu for a pizzeria. Pizza came out with orange cheese and oil dripping all over the place. Tasted exactly like taking the pizza out of the frig, the next morning heating it up in the toaster. They are using cheap cheese for one and posting this sale in the window. The second complaint was the internet, they first said they didn't have any, second they gave us a fake password. Asked out the Laughing Lion router (that they never bothered to turn off after buying the place some 6 years ago), and there it was in full strength. So we have con artists, that serve you left over food from the night before and will lie to you, when you catch them in the act. Food was nothing special, just typical pizzeria style that you can get the same items in the same place. We have to warn anyone that orders pizza there, 1 watch out for that con they try to serve you overnight food, if the pizza you get is orange looking and it leaks orange type oil, it was from the night before and it was reheated. Your paying for fresh pizza, not their leftovers! Toppings on the pizza are a rip off! Order 3 toppings and you just bought yourself another plain cheese 16" pizza. A whopping $4 a topping, then they charge you even more for what they call "premium toppings". Your going to charge over $4 for toppings for eggplant that the whole eggplant cost $1.99 and your going to give the customer less then 10% of that eggplant when you get it from your vendor. Stay away from their toppings because thats their money maker for pizza. As far as people in the place, there is nothing more than annoying old people in the place. 1/2 of them don't even know what chicken parmigiana is and you have to give them the whole story of what everything on the menu is, and then they order a cheese burger. Just like the annoying old person behind us that was always complaining, when it said wait to be seated. He seated himself and then 30 seconds later started complaining. He asked us if there was service in this section, but what he was really complaining about was getting his but kissed the second he got into the place. Then we have to put up with this annoying moron, whistling through out the whole service. Pricing has much to be considered, Table 42 is a Pizzeria that tries to rip people off with their pizza, your not getting fresh as what your paying for, between the lies and the poor quality food that they know they were serving (they were basically banking on the customer being stupid and not knowing what they were doing) and charge you an arm and left for it. There's a lot of great places in Dover, Table 42 is not one of them. read more

Table 42 is hands down an amazing dining experience! The atmosphere is chill and welcoming with a diverse staff and clientele. The staff is super friendly and top-notch! All the staff! The owner, Chuck welcomes you to his restaurant like you are walking into his home. Now to the food. Chicken Francese is the best ever! Anywhere! And their pasta and vegetables are always cooked Al Dente (which is a big deal for me!) Pizza is sooooo good. Ravioli - amazing! Steaks are yummy. Rigatoni Bolognese is unmatched! A great spot for a well-shaken, dirty martini. And, they have great recipes for their sangria and Irish Coffee = both delicious. Enjoy live music Friday and Saturday. This place has really gone downhill. I went with a group of 7 last Sunday night. There was one unfriendly waitress serving the whole dining room. We waited over an hour and a half for our food and had a really hard time getting water for our glasses. She could have said something apologetic about the wait or the lack of service, but didn't. We usually enjoy the firecracker calamari, but it came out plain without the peppers and other stuff, and with the balsamic sauce on the side. We asked her to bring the correct dish and it looked like she just dumped the whole dish of sauce on top and brought it back out. It was a mess. The food was just okay, nothing to brag about. Also, it was $21 for spaghetti and meatballs, which I think is too much for this informal restaurant. We did not enjoy our experience and will not be back anytime soon. read more

I really enjoyed my dining experience here. I never heard of this place untill my friend had mentioned it. They have a nice sized bar and plenty of seating to dine. They also have a pizzeria right next door that I've heard good things about as well. For dinner, I had the Chicken Catalina which was crispy-crunchy on the outside, and tender-juicy on the inside. This is the second time I've been here. I usually like to try a placw a couple of times b4 doing a review. I really like this place. Its the old Laughing Lion in Dover. My wife and I sat at the bar which we prefer rather than sitting at a table. The bar is very nicely done. Comfortable and modern. Hooks under the bar for the ladies to hang their bags. (Sorry if thats sexist ladies...Im old school). Lots of room. A few well placed TVs for viewing if you're so inclined yet doesn't have the "Sports Bar" feel which is nice. There are plenty of high tops in the bar area as well as seated dinning in the back section. Bar is well stocked with both well and top shelf brands. Large beer selection both bottled and on tap. Significant wine list. Prices are reasonable. The menu is very ample without being overwhelming. Good selection of apps ,wraps,sandwiches,burgers,steaks,pastas, pizzas,specials. All reasonably priced. We wanted to watch some football and just snack. We started with stuffed mushroom appie. Very good. My wife ordered the shrimp in Sambuca cream sause. Apparently they are known for this dish. I am not a Sambuca fan and found it a little Sambuca forward for my tastes but it was very good. My wife loved it. I can see where people would love this dish. Check out the pics of this being posted. Then we had mussels marinara. They were fresh and clean. I didnt have any bad ones in the batch. Sause was terrific. Very good. We finished off with a personal pizza and sliders. Both were good. There were a lot of other appealing selections on the menu but we were too full for any more at this point.We will definitely be coming back to sample more goodies. Overall we really really like this place .This place checks all the boxes for me. Good solid food, reasonable price, casual and inviting atmosphere but a little on the nicer side. Dover is not the first place we think of to go out to but I highly recommend giving this place a try. Parking tip.. do not go down Sussex Street as you will only find street parking. As a regular customer at Table 42 I can tell you that it's one of my favorite restaurants to dine at in the town of Dover. Serving some of the finest Classic Italian Comfort foods around. Freshly prepared authentic meals that are incredibly delicious and satisfying.    Great Steaks, Seafood, Chicken and Pork meals paired up with tremendous pasta sides or potatoes and vegetables. Whether it's Pizza, Pasta, Pesce, or Pollo you cannot go wrong with anything on this huge menu.    Small groups or large parties are not a problem here and there's always a welcomed spot near or at the bar. Which is probably where you'll find Me, so stop by and say hello.    Since my previous review, they have opened up a Pizza shop next door which is a convenient place to grab a pie or have one delivered. At Table 42 you're gonna find friendly bartenders, servers and a very active management team who are always at the ready to help you enjoy your dining experience. Walk in to Table 42 and you don't feel like you're in Dover anymore. I feel like I'm walking into a trendy restaurant in Hoboken. The lighting is dim enough to set a comfortable mood, but not so dark that you cant see the person in front of you. You have your choice of a quiet sit down area in the back, or the long bar area with plenty of seats with TV's and some nights has live entertainment. Chuck, the owner, is always overseeing the floor keeping a close watch to ensure everyone is greeted and helped. He obviously takes his business seriously. We had the zeppoli dessert. Warm dough with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping and a heap of powdered sugar on top. Sooooo good. read more

Our family when to eat dinner but the food was not tasty and very expensive, no more next time.

I received a flyer of Table 42's menu in the mail. Normally I go to Yelp to check out new restaurants, but this time I blindly called the number on the mailer and put in a take out order. My order? Mozzarella sticks, Margherita pizza, and chocolate mousse cake. The Margherita pizza was pretty good. The tomato sauce was perfect. My only problem with it was that the center of the pizza was kind of soft, while only the crust was crusty. I'm a crust kind of gal, so that's why I was slightly disappointed. The mozzarella sticks were ok. Nothing special. I am sort of picky with the outside fried part of cheese sticks. I like the breading to be spiced and a little thicker. I just know for next time not to get them here. The BEST part was the chocolate mousse cake. This is one of the best I have ever had! They even included strawberries in it. Will I come back? Yeah, definitely, but I would want to try some other dishes! The pasta dishes look amazing! read more
