I stopped at this restaurant for dinner. When I arrived I parked in their lot. I walked in and was greeted! The staff were great! The place was cozy! I ordered with Ava and had: Pig Iron Old Fashioned Thursdays 1/2 off wine bottles Grilled Chicken Wings Cacio e Pepe Primavera & Shrimp Salmon Apple Crunch Cake They had 1/2 off wine bottles as well! Came here a month ago with my wife for the first time, really enjoyed our meals. Food : I ordered the cacio e pepe with shrimp which was both super tasty and surprisingly light to me. My wife got a delicious fusilli and broccoli rabe that she really enjoyed as well. Service : our waitress Ava was super kind and on top of everything. I also noticed that the owner or manager was out helping with the tables which I was not only surprised, but I definitely respected the hustle. Found this hole in the wall driving towards North Jersey! We were immediately seated upon arriving on a Sunday night. Service was quick and most of the food we had was really good! Our favorites were the steak and the potato soup special. I also enjoyed my burrata salad pictured. I do feel some of the options were a little pricier for the portion sizes (potato soup was $13 , 4 small fried pickles was $13 , onion soup was $10) , which is why I took off a star. I'm literally writing this review while still eating because everything is that good. We ordered the cornbread, grilled wings, roasted broccoli, and the open-face roast beef sandwich, and every single bite has been amazing. It's rare to find food that tastes genuinely homemade, with both flavor and quality shining through in every dish. The cornbread is perfectly balanced, the wings have incredible char and seasoning, the broccoli is roasted just right, and the roast beef sandwich is pure comfort food done at a level you don't often find. Based on rave reviews, we decided to order takeout from the restaurant's website. The process was simple enough till the checkout page. Tip for takeout is by default set at 20%. Then there were the fees. There's an online ordering fee (which I've seen on third party websites, never on a restaurant's own website) and a PICKUP FEE! I understand the restaurant business is extremely cut-throat and every cent matters. Granted that prices have increased across the board and so has cost of living, but the logic of a pick up fee on top of all the other charges is completely lost on me. The food may be great and in-house dining may be wonderful, but the online ordering experience makes me wonder what other hidden charges I need to look out for. read more

NJ Bar & Grill is in the midst of a makeover. Within the next year, it will be renamed to The Miner's Apron. One of the co-owners spent a good deal of time at our table explaining the changes. They're really taking the history of Mine Hill and incorporating it into their restaurant. You can see that just by looking at the names of their cocktails. The new menu has lots of interesting choices. My wife and I met friends there and tried a variety of appetizers and entrees. The French Onion soup was delicious and the Fried Pickles were different but tasty. Our entrees ranged from a burger to fried chicken, grilled chicken BLT, to my Roast Beast sandwich. It was definitely a different menu, but everyone enjoyed their meals. Unfortunately, we didn't have room for dessert, but the cherry cheesecake egg rolls sounded amazing! We hired the Miner's Apron to cater a very special birthday party. We had used them previously and the food was great. The men came and set everything up and were very nice. However, as we opened each tray of food it became obvious that the food was not fresh. The penne vodka was inedible. The guests at the party barely picked at the food and everything was thrown into the garbage. We ordered pizzas instead because everyone was hungry. We contacted the owner who was very apologetic and said he would look into what happened and get back to us with a refund amount. After waiting for over two weeks, we still had no response, so we reached out to him again. He ignored us for a few days and then we sent another reminder text to which he replied he had fired his chefs, the food was not made according to standards, and he would get back to us once again with a refund amount. We literally never heard from the owner again. Just to clarify we gave him over $4,000 worth of business over the past 12 months. I do not recommend doing business with the restaurant. read more

I can (and have) walked here from my house. I will never ever go here again. The food is (even after multiple changes in management according to waitresses) atrocious! Inedible! Ordered a burger medium. It was raw. Showed the waitress. They cut the burger in half and threw it in the deep fryer and it was still raw when we got it back the second time. Cold fries. Just bad food in general. I live in the neighborhood and even I have to admit that the patrons are difficult to deal with. It's the type of place where if the bar flies don't recognize you, they give you dirty looks. Do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

The service was great, food came out timely, and they make you feel so welcome! Everyone enjoyed their meals, which is not easy to find a place that all of us can agree on. I had a pasta special (spicy pene and shrimp) and the grilled wings (homemade Habanero). Hands down the best dishes I have had in a long time. I like this place! Located on a side road amoungst houses, it's a little hard to find. There is plenty of parking and inside you'll find a large bar with several TV's which is great for watching sports and a dining room. Interior-wise, it could use a refresh, some color, etc. The bartenders were friendly and I really loved the simplified menu. We started with the garlic shrimp app - GET THIS! Comes with bread and the dish is pretty big. For dinner I enjoyed the buffalo wings - you get 8 juicy wings and they tasted amazing - really the best wings I have had in a long time. My husband, myself and two friends had dinner here for the first time on Thursday night. Each of us had a different entree and each of us was very pleased and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I had penne and shrimp which I can honestly say was the best I've ever had, anywhere, even at the best Italian restaurant. Our server, although very busy, was extremely attentive but not intrusive by any means... The gentleman who owns the restaurant, who we did not know at all, stopped by our table several times just to be sure everything was as we liked. There was a rather large party seated not far from us, but it had absolutely no impact on our dining experience.
