I've been hearing about Tabor Road Tavern for 15 years or more, as my neighbors used to frequent the place to the point where they had the head bartender attend their home dinner parties. They were always complimentary, so when I had a vendor ask me to lunch in the greater Parsippany/Morris Plains area and asked where I would like to go, this place naturally came to mind. Been really anxious to try it but I just don't work down that way often enough around meal time. I was promptly greeted by the hostess, and my party had not yet arrived so they chose to seat me. I was okay waiting by the entrance, but they seemed to want me seated. I feel it would have been proper to ask what my preference was, but whatever. Dining room was brightly lit, clean, and tables are comfortably set with some privacy and space between. My vendor arrived a few minutes later and we were greeted by our server. He was so patient, as he had to come back at least three times to ask if we had reviewed the menu....we were busy catching up on business and just hadn't looked but we did order two lager beers and they were quickly served. Tasty, and at a good temperature. She got a chicken salad and I ordered the Tabor Road burger, bacon on the side. I found the burger to be very good, cooked perfectly to temperature and I believe it was prime so it was very tender. Good toppings, but glad I got the bacon on the side as it was way too smokey and overly seasoned. I gave it to my tablemate top placed on top of her salad and that worked out well. Prices are a bit on the high side at $21 for that burger. I mean, I would put the quality and quantity of food against any good pub serving a burger at $16. Now you may say, that's not much difference but would you willingly pay 25% more for any product or service of similar quality? Would I go back? Maybe....we shall see. The services was top notch, I will say that. They make you feel very important. Good selection for a business meeting.

I really enjoyed the Katsu Salad which was quite hefty and a generous serving - good balance of flavors and crunchy textures. The staff took my nut allergy very seriously which I appreciated.

What a beautiful restaurant! Went in for lunch on a Monday and it was quite busy. Got seated, server took our order and got our drinks. The iced tea service is spectacular and just so good. The kitchen must have been backed up - took almost an hour and our server didn't check in, but it was fine. The meal - trio of salad, soup, and a crispy chicken slider - was really excellent, and at a great price. Felt like I was getting good value for money here. Would recommend reservations, looks like this place gets very busy!

    Let's check it out !!!

Had high hopes here for a good Rueben ! Had plenty of corned beef however hardly any sauerkraut and dressing on it which is what really makes the Rueben! Friend had the wings which he didn't finish said they were terrible, the meat was discolored even , I think he ate 3 of them and threw the remainder away. I will however say the barkeep was great and kept us stocked on drinks.

Good service and delicious food in Jersey. Came here for a team building lunch and they were able to accommodate! Decent customer service and good food overall!

When I was in the area more often, I always loved coming here. Since I was back in the area for work, I decided to stop in for lunch. The place is as great as I remembered. I decided to try the lunch trio where you can pick three options and I decided to have the chowder, Caesar salad, and the pan seared salmon; it was all very good; the salmon was cooked perfectly. The service, as usual, was fast and friendly.

I attended this place once again. For an appetizer, the crunchy shrimp spring rolls were ordered. They came with a lime miso dressing and a sweet chili sauce. I initially thought they would come out cold because I saw spring rolls but should have known better since they were also described as crunchy. They were tasty and both sauces enhanced the rolls. I liked the contrast between the dressing and sauce. The spring rolls were also open-faced, which made them messier than they had to be, but they were filled to capacity. For my meal, I went with the Tabor Road burger. The meat was a ribeye blend with garlic aioli, lettuce, tomato, pickles, caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese. I opted for the meat to be cooked medium rare and that was how it came out, perfect cook. There was a solid ratio of bread to filing. It was a well-seasoned burger along with the other fixings. It also came with a side of fries that came out hot and crispy with enough seasoning. My only issue was the cheese was not fully melted, but not a huge deal. For dessert, the Reese's half-baked cookie was ordered. It came with a vanilla gelato, caramel sauce, and whipped cream. The cookie had Reese's pieces, which I was not expecting. It came out very warm and soft. The vanilla gelato was a great compliment to that. It was a satisfying ending to the meal.

Great service, great food! We sat at the bar and Diane was our server. The inside has a barn feel to it, it's rustic with high wood beams and a fireplace that was burning. Diane was friendly and tended to our drink orders right away, she even gave me a fresh, cold Martini glass to refresh my martini while we were eating. Lunch menu was very reasonable and portions were large. We didn't need an appetizer or dessert. Halibut was cooked a little firm but still good, the romesco sauce on the bottom gave it a unique touch. The burger was a double patty and my husband really enjoyed it. He had the seasonal Pacino old fashioned, which I even liked, seemed to be a favorite as we saw others ordering the same. It had a hint of sweetness. Inside was nicely decorated for the holidays with poinsettias throughout.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary lunch today and the Caesar salad was awesome, my husband's lettuce wedge salad was more than expected, his crabcake appetizer became his entrée and he said it was amazing!! My entrée of a lobster roll was the BEST I've ever had - even better than the ones we had in Kennebunkport!!! The service was excellent, and we were complimented two champagne glasses of Prosecco to toast our anniversary! If I could give it six stars, I would! Definitely recommend it and we will be going back!

My family went to Tabor Road Tavern for dinner the other night. It was incredible. The food was delicious. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. I had an Aperol Spritz to drink. For dinner I had a chicken pot pie with loaded mashed potatoes. For dessert, I had flourless chocolate cake with sea salt ice cream. Super delicious! I would highly recommend all of them.

Went for Valentine's Day dinner and had a great time! Very cozy inside! Service was quick and staff were friendly. All the food we got was very good, the best being the chicken pot pie.

The place was nice and cozy. We sat at the bar, what we usually like to do. I ordered the spicy pineapple margarita and it did not disappoint. We ordered a few apps to share. We got the lobster bites Wagyu crispy dumplings And I had to ordered the Brussel sprouts with pancetta. The Brussels were a bit disappointing. Very plain and we both agreed needed salt. We added salt and it helped. The wagyu dumplings were okay. Just tasted like a plain meatball to us. It was supposed to be served with a truffle ponzu dipping sauce but we didn't taste any truffle in it. The lobster bites were soo good though. Wish we had more! Service was kind from everyone. No complaints there. I didn't have the "best" first impression with the food but I would like to go again and try another cocktail and more food. I'll be back! Thank you!

I ate at Tabor Road Tavern with coworkers/business associates so my pics were limited but we all enjoyed this restaurant. We had a party of 10 people and had made a reservation in advance. We had a small room just for our party. We ordered several appetizers for the table: calamari, cauliflower, salads, etc. for the main course, the table ordered a variety of items. A few ordered the Beef Wellington, some the halibut. I went with a burger and the truffle fries. It was good, but not outstanding (wish I'd chosen something else). The rest of the people were very happy with their meals. The drink menu was varied, including nonalcoholic cocktails, seasonal adult cocktails, and also wine (by the bottle or glass). The dessert menu also looked amazing. We did not order any however. My observation is that the desserts were on the expensive side (like $15 each). The rest of the menu was appropriate in price. Our server was really great. Considering the size of our table, she did a fantastic job. Friendly, not hovering but no one ran out of water or other beverage. The speed of the food was perhaps a bit slow but considering the size of our party, it was very good. Overall, I can recommend this spot for a large party.

Despite this, the manager refused to provide our party with the brunch menu and insisted we order from the regular menu, even after we politely requested otherwise. It later became clear that this decision was based on the size of our party rather than an actual menu policy. The manager repeatedly claimed that brunch ended earlier than what was printed on the menu, which was confusing and inconsistent. After unnecessary back and forth, the chef ultimately approved our ability to order from the brunch menu, confirming that this was not a kitchen issue. This was especially disappointing as we were celebrating my son's birthday, and what should have been a pleasant occasion was unnecessarily stressful. The manager's approach was unprofessional, dismissive, and confrontational. In contrast, our waiter was excellent. He was attentive, courteous, and did everything possible to make the experience positive despite the circumstances. Honoring published menu times and treating guests with respect are basic service expectations. Unfortunately, poor management overshadowed what could have otherwise been an enjoyable celebration.

We have been here several times before and we are excited to celebrate this accomplishment. When we arrived, the restaurant did not seem to know we had a reservation. The restaurant was mostly empty, so there was no issue getting a table. Once we were sat, we were offered water but no other soft drinks. Bottles of wine were opened but there was nothing to keep the wine chilled. After being at the table for over 10 minutes, I needed to ask for menus. We needed to ask repeatedly for water and at one point, I went to the back of the restaurant to get the water for the table. It was hot in the restaurant and the music was loud. The music was changed erratically throughout the meal until near the end of the meal, when there was no music or ambience. So odd! The food received was delicious. There was an issue of my ordering the pork chop but being served a lamb chop. I know the difference! The staff insisted I was given a pork chop. I did not eat it. By that time, the other people at my table were done with their food. I went to speak with the server discreetly at the back of the restaurant in attempts to resolve my concerns. The server returned to the table several times to argue about what we spoke about and insist I take a dessert and drink wine. I did not have an entree due to the incorrect meal being served and the insistence that I was served the correct meal. I made it clear that this was a special event but there was no attention given to that, not even a 'congratulations' on her dessert plate. Ultimately, Chef Freddy's Table was generous with the amount they deducted from the check but that wasn't the point of our visit. The point was to have a positive experience to celebrate an accomplishment. I am so disappointed! Suggestion: Maybe not go there on a Sunday, call the restaurant versus booking online or just adjust your expectations if this is a special event.

The owner personally stopped by to make sure we were having a lovely time, which added an extra touch of hospitality. The venue itself exudes classic elegance--it feels like "old money" charm and could easily be a backdrop for a scene in The Godfather. For dinner, I ordered the classic Caesar salad, pan-roasted Angus filet mignon with potato au gratin, and the chocolate soufflé. The salad was what you'd expect--fresh and well-prepared. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and served in a surprisingly generous portion. The chocolate soufflé must be pre-ordered, and while my husband loved it, I realized I personally prefer a lighter, airier chocolate cake--but that's simply a matter of taste, not execution. First, overall I'd say the food was very good on all five visits. The first two nights, I had dinner here. On the first night, I sat at the bar and enjoyed a bowl of the French onion soup and the halibut. The soup wasn't huge for $12, but it tasted good, and the halibut was quite flavorful. I didn't realize at the time, but they add in an 18% gratuity, so tip extra at your own risk. On the second night, I ate at a table with two coworkers. I had the chicken paillard, which was a large portion and also very good. Service was strong at both the bar and table on consecutive nights. For the three breakfasts, I pretty much had the same thing every day...an omelette with a side of fruit. It also came with potatoes, but it would've been nice if it came with toast or something similar without needing to pay extra. Again, food was good. Service the first day was fine. The next two days, the older gentleman providing service couldn't have cared less. I (and others) would show up at 6:30, when they opened, but nobody would be there. We'd sit ourselves and then wait. Eventually he'd show up. It was difficult getting coffee too, as both days, my cup sat empty for a long time until I'd eventually flag him down. Everything was on his time. I would've given him little/no tip...if the 18% wasn't already added in. The rest of the restaurant...food and service...gets a 5. This guy gets a 1. I probably should've given this a 3, but it didn't seem fair to everything/everyone else.
