Ok- came here on a whim for a day trip and this place did not disappoint! We were a party of 9 (4 adults and 5 kids) and we sat at the round table that's right by the entrance, which was perfect. We were far away from other patrons as not to disturb them, and the kids were able to chat freely without having to shush them for being too loud. The place was quiet during lunch so they only had about 2 wait staff running the floor. Our server was extremely attentive and was very good at memorizing all our orders without writing it down. I'm a sucker for any type of chips and dip so the complimentary chip and salsa was my favorite part of the meal. Food came out quickly and it was delicious! I ordered a shrimp rice bowl and the portions were a good amount with leftovers for another meal! I highly recommend this place if you're in town- maybe make reservations too because it's not a big place. Also if you have strollers, there's no ramp to go up, but it's only a few steps to the door. I recommend leaving the stroller in the car because if you're not lucky to get the big table by the door or you're a small family, there's not much space for you to park the stroller! read more

We made a dinner reservation to celebrate my niece's birthday at Bone Yard as she has been wanting to try it for a while. The restaurant itself and the ambiance is really festive and cute with lots of areas for photo opportunities. Our non-alcoholic drinks (it's a byob ... which isn't my favorite and especially for a Mexican restaurant bc who drinks a mocktail margarita lol) were yummy and the chips and also were fresh. Our appetizers of the tortilla soup and empanadas (not pictured) were also really tasty. But our dinner on the other hand was pretty bland ... especially the fajitas. Even the rice and beans were pretty tasteless. Overall service was solid ... but the clearing of our table wasn't consistent and made for tight eating conditions. My niece was happy to have finally visited but we more than likely won't be back. read more

Top it off when we brought it to our server Anna's attention she laughed it off with a comment like "well I won't say any names but we know who's hair that is from". No apologies or anything. Went on Father's Day. Made reservations earlier in the day. Food was not great and service was not acceptable. I got the shrimp portion of the fajitas but never got the tortillas, sour cream, guacamole etc. my daughter never got her quesadilla. We were in the place for a long time. I will not be going back. It's too bad. I like to support local restaurants but they need to be decent. There is a really good Mexican places within a ten minute drive. Should have gone there. read more

We have come in twice now and really like it here. The ambiance is very cute. The food is great. My only small thing is the service was really slow. They were very busy though and our waiter was super nice. We were there on a Tuesday so it was taco Tuesday and they have good specials on tacos. I went here for lunch 9/12/25. My daughter and granddaughter treated me to lunch for my birthday. Our waitress Anna was terrific. Since it is a BYOB restaurant, we brought a margarita cocktail with us. Anna provided margarita glasses with ice. Tortilla chips and salsa were brought to the table while we decided on our entrees. I'm writing this to give a shout-out to Bone Yard, a Mexican restaurant here in Sparta. I was organizing a birthday party for my six-year old, and decided to have it in the restaurant instead of a kid's place. We've become the restaurant's regulars. We love their food, atmosphere, and service. Our favorite dishes are carne asada, tortas, fish tacos and others. My husband and I both love their margaritas. We weren't sure about doing a kid's party at any restaurant as we didn't know how it could really be done. I spoke with the restaurant manager, Kevin, and we created a plan. We purchased lunch for about 18 children and roughly 20 adults. The restaurant provided fantastic drinks as well. We also spent there more than 3 hours, and most kid places allow you 2 hours for food and activities. What is even more impressive is that they accommodated us with the activities we planned for the kids. We had two characters (Moana and Jesmin) who did canvas painting and face painting for the children. We provided our own cake, but Kevin made it extra special. They cut the cake and decorated each slice with whipped cream and purple sugar sparkles. The kids were thrilled. They even gave a gift to my daughter and us. Overall, we were very happy with the cost, food, service and manager's involvement in the party. There's no doubt that our next party will be in Bone Yard again. read more

When our drinks were brought out some had been made wrong, ignoring specifications we asked for. The food itself was brought out in a reasonable amount of time I think, given we were a party of 9. One of our favorite new restaurants in the area, nice Atmosphere, probably one of the funner fancier places you could take a family with young kids. Good quality food, solid texmex menu, really like their selection of hot sauces. The staff are nice and friendly but seem a little like they're still learning the ropes. Worst experience. Drove from an hour away for dinner on July 4 and they were closed. All other restaurants open. We had a reservation and were told the power had been on for 30 min before we arrived. No call back or notification. Just shuttered and closed not even a sign on the door! Only restaurant who decided to close out of the entire town and leave their customers empty handed. First time here, we were in the neighborhood and wanted to try it. Restaurant 85% empty on a weekday afternoon and yet the host/bartender/waiter still sat us at the table right next to the kitchen doors where they were bleaching something, cutting boards maybe? (At least we knew they were practicing proper Serve Safe procedures.) I had us moved to another table, yaknow because of the bleach. A couple who came in after us were seated in a lovely little balcony area (not sure why we didn't rate?) and I'll be damned, even though we ordered 15 minutes before them, they got served before we did. They were also out of a couple of items I wanted to try. Food not horrible but, not memorable either. Maybe they were having an off afternoon, maybe you'll have better luck than we did, who knows? I'm so happy to have another Mexican restaurant to enjoy! The servers are bright and friendly, as well as professional. The menu offers plenty of familiar offerings for gringos, but I hope to see some stretching into the culinary adventures that so many Mexican chefs are exploring (Pati Jinich, Enrique Olvera, Gabriel Ca'mara). We started with guacamole, which was well made and generous in proportion. However, I thought the $18 price was a bit much, considering the simplicity of the dish. For my main course, I ordered a standard that I could use as a basis for comparison: enchiladas suisas. They were well prepared and quite good. Unlike so many other restaurants, the stewed chicken was beautifully seasoned and very moist. My husband ordered the ahi tuna tacos, which were absolutely delicious! Perfect sear on the fish, and the fabulous mango pico de gallo was piled high. We ate our meals so enthusiastically I forgot to take food porn pics! I wanted to like this place as it is a local. Ordered takeout 4/27/24. 4pm My burrito was wrong ordered a grande with sauce and cheese and got neither....ok fine. But what I got, was bone dry, no pun intended. My youngest got nachos and they were burnt. My oldest got the empanadas and she really enjoyed them. My wife got the mixed fajitas, they were ok, real bland. Do not order the the $12 side of guacamole, it is about half a cup or 2 of the condiment containers. I am struggling to provide a positive review but I will try. The food generally is reasonably good. There are some issues with their chicken tacos, and chicken fajitas being bland and too tough. On a previous taco Tuesday one of the tacos was the chorizo taco. The meat didn't taste fresh at all. The guacamole, chips, salsa, beef tacos, Al Pastor tacos, shrimp, enchiladas are all good. The real issue is the service. I have eaten here now four times. Each time the service has been poor. They are not timely. On my last visit my group of four sat for 10 minutes before being addressed. The one and only server helping 8 tables took a table of two before us when we had been there first. General table cleaning and refilling drinks. It's all slow every time. There must be a standard for service and there must be someone there ensuring the standard is brought to life every night. It's very frustrating. There was a manager / Owner there. He wasn't helpful and didn't acknowledge the slow service and at first wasn't doing anything to help. As things got worse he eventually helped the server but didn't know how the tables were numbered. I hope they can solve this as sparta can use a great Mexican resturant. The place looks great and has the potential to be wonderful. read more

It's Saturday night, we booked a table at 7 pm. Despite our booking we were led to the WORST table in the restaurant which we refused. Another table was offered which was better. Sparta is in desperate need of a good restaurant, but this one isn't it. The ambiance is beautiful and the waitress helping our table was so nice. She was attentive, kind and personable. Upon arriving and confirming our reservation, the hostess said "just so you know, we have a table coming in right after you at 6:30." It was rude and she was clearly telling us to move our dining experience along. It is not the fault of the customer that the restaurant management can't put together a timely schedule without rushing the paying customers. It was immediately off-putting. Upon receiving our food, the other member of my party enjoyed her dinner. Mine had to be sent back because I ordered the wrong thing. The waitress was more than accommodating and I didn't have to wait too long to receive the correct dish. I ordered enchiladas. The sauce on those enchiladas could cure any sinus infection, it was so hot. So hot, in fact, I could not eat the entire plate. The restaurant was fine. The food was lacking. I'd go back but definitely order something else. If this place has any longevity, hopefully someone talks to the hostess about being welcoming instead of dismissive. read more

First visit of many tonight, and we were very impressed. The renovations to the space are stunning. Our server Meg was very sweet and attentive. On to the important stuff...the drinks and food were spectacular. They have some of the best guacamole I've ever had. We got chicken tacos Boneyard style, shrimp tacos, and rice & beans. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The drinks are tasty and so affordable since it's BYOB. Highly recommend the blood orange margarita. Wanted to really like this place. The positive is it's absolutely beautiful inside. That's about all that's positive We got there around 4 o'clock on a Friday. We were told that we didn't have reservations so we would have to leave by six. That was not an issue. A woman came in literally two minutes behind us, and the hostess sat her RIGHT next to us - the ENTIRE restaurant open - we were the only ones in the restaurant. Even the woman looked at the hostess and said "you are going to sit my and my party here?" It was ridiculous. Even after this other customer made several more comments no one was paying any attention to her. Was awkward. The entire upstairs has a bench for seating on one side. They have pillows which, while pretty decor, make a complete mess when someone sits next to you. The service was slow as it appears the waitresses also make your drinks. There was a gentleman sitting at the bar who I believe was the manager, but he seemed to be doing a bunch of nothing, but looking at a laptop Ok the food. The combination was completely tasteless. The street tacos were ok at best. Hopefully will improve but won't be back read more
