Great place. Love the food and service. I highly recommended this place in the past. My family love the steak fajitas over ordered : of them plus drinks. We don't like guacamole nor sour cream. But we do want the cheese and rice. They were very good as well as the drinks. However, when I received the bill. It was $12 for cheese and another $4 for rice. I assumed this automatically came with fajitas even since I removed other items. When I questioned the manager, she said no that the cheese and rice is not included with fajitas. Everywhere I went to get fajitas at other Mexican restaurants. Cheese and rice was included. While everything was good. This certainly rubbed me the wrong way. It's not about the money. This is the most expensive Mexican restaurant in northwest NJ. Imagine spending $25 for three taco's or $30 for enchiladas. $15 dollar mixed drinks, I thought I was in manhattan NYC. I ordered the chicken mole for $30. The chicken was whole filet. The mole was bland. It comes without tortillas so I had to pay extra. You think at $30 they would be included. It was the perfect night to sit outside and listen to music and enjoy the lights while waiting for our food. The drinks were amazing and the food so delicious. I love fish tacos and these were epic! The rice and beans sides were the perfect accompaniment. My husband's big steak burrito was filling and satisfying. I'm so sick of this restaurant pulling a bait and switch with super expensive items. I asked our, very OVER THE TOP server John, what various flavors of margaritas they had. He said they had a spicy margarita. Perfect. I love those. I ordered it. When it arrived, it was ginormous and when the bill came, it was THIRTY DOLLARS. And, it wasn't even spicy. But come on, they couldn't make a (non) spicy margarita in a normal glass??? John had to suggest a THIRTY DOLLAR drink to me, without mentioning it was THIRTY DOLLARS!??!? I ordered one of the specials, a 'grilled shrimp and scallop' dish. They were not grilled. And it wasn't that great. The dinner cost for 4 of us was, with tip, $290. That's also ridiculous. We usually have a good Mexican dinner at Chapala 3. The food is always good and the service is nice and friendly. But this time, I really felt like having a steak. So, that's what I ordered. They sent out a small, thinner than expected Tomahawk Steak with a small bone covered in aluminum foil. The steak was very fatty, so I ate the meat around it. When I checked the bill the next day, to my surprise, they charged me $110 for that steak. See attached receipt. That's outrageous! I wish I took a picture. Yes, it came with steak fries and rice. But, this wasn't a Capital Grill type steak, if you go there as we do. It was the size of a small rib eye and very fatty. The size and the quality of the steak are in question. No where that I know of is the price of a steak $110. Next time I'll ask how much BEFORE I place my order. Just be aware of price gouging!. Yikes! read more

The food here is always good. The staff are very nice and friendly. The chimichanga with rice and beans is my favorite meal here. It's very been here a few times and they never disappoint. The decor is nice and their drinks are quite delicious. I've been here during the weekend and it can get pretty crowded in here. However, the staff does their best to seat you as soon as possible. Chápala Grill is great for date night, after work fun, celebrating an event or just because. I surely will return. It's the best Mexican restaurant I've been to so far. read more

Last night a group of us had the chance to dine at Chapala in Jefferson. The Yelp reviews I read beforehand were excellent and the restaurant didn't disappoint. This is a large place with lots of seating and both dining rooms were filled. Word gets around! I kicked it off with a red sangria and my wife had a strawberry coconut margarita. The drinks are served in these large mugs which are very cool. Appetizers for the table included queso dip with jalapeño and empanadas. Loved the empanadas! My entree was Al Pastor tacos, which was 3 tacos filled with pork, pineapple, and onions...delicious! Everyone at the table enjoyed all their choices. Very tasty food and nice portions. The staff was friendly, prices reasonable, parking easy. All in all, just a fun time at a great Mexican restaurant! read more

It was easy to get to, the parking lot had ample space. Very friendly staff and restaurant was adhering to precautions guidelines. Nice variety of beverages both bar and non alcoholic. We had a great experience here last week! We called ahead because it was a larger group, but they said they didn't really take reservations. We showed up early, and we had no problem being seated. My parents, however, do say that it gets rather busy! The chips and salsa were delicious. We asked for several refills. After, I ordered the shrimp fajitas. Delicious. When Lola's is your favorite Mexican restaurant in the area you'd probably stick with what you like and not risk disappointment venturing out into the taco unknown. Well, I ventured and wow was I shocked! First course was an outstanding nopales salad with avocado, tomato, onions and a killer lime vinaigrette. I'd go back just for that! The birria and carnitas tacos were delicious and rarely am I taking fork after fork of the yellow rice. Well seasoned and perfect as were the beans both cooked and refried. We like the food. We used to eat at el Tapatio in Dover where we believe these folk used to operate. However, eating here before from a holiday menu the relative price was much higher than usual. Be careful of the prices, as they can vary widely. Also, some of their cocktails are priced exorbitantly high. We recently went and were told that valet parking is mandatory. Absolutely outstanding option for authentic Mexican in the area, a new favorite of ours. Went with wife and daughter on a Friday night. My wife told me we'd better go early, they really pack them in. She was so right, we made it just in time for self parking (I am NOT a fan of valet for a number of reasons, it's so silly when I can find my own spot and hold onto my keys for safe keeping). Right after we pulled in, a huge coach (full size bus) pulled in and 45 people got off. They had the deck area for a private party, but amazingly it did not tax the kitchen output in the least. Our appetizers and entrees were served in an impressive timeline, all hot and delicious. They are really good at ensuring you have a full bowl of their fresh chips and salsa, both of which taste as if they are made onsite daily. When the chips and salsa rock, chances are you'll be pleased with the other offerings. Nothing disappointed, great fajitas for me and my wife got a chimi that was crisp and tender. We got the Mexican street corn appetizer and it was delicious, we licked the plate clean.
