Wonderful service, classic breakfast done well. No frills, just good strong diner style food with plenty of coffee. Bread comed buttered and real milk for the coffee. Good prices. A clean setup store new to this mall with some tough competition. Lots of tables, both in and out, so plenty of place to sit down for a spell. Menu is dense with broad selection, feels like a full scale diner menu in a tiny little spot. The kitchen staff and manager greets everyone coming in, and a hearty honest thank you when you leave. I would rate it higher if they had some specialty bread or pastry. The fruit bowl needs to be bigger. And simplify the menu. This place is your typical run-of-the-mill breakfast diner. The food is okay, nothing great. The service is alright, pretty ordinary. The location and venue are nothing to turn an eye over but this place does not try to be something it's not. The prices are very fair and it gets the job done. Called to ask about their wait time and reservation and was told to come and I may need to wait 10-15 minutes. I got here and told the guy table for 5 outside so he can put us down and he was just rude. He could not even tell us how long the wait was and was just saying that people sitting down have not ordered yet and blah blah blah. I placed an order through the app and the order stated 3 sugar crepes with banana and Nutella. When I received my order the crepes were empty. I called to let them know the crepes were empty and the woman stated "sorry, that's the way it came in on our end." I explained to her that was what was the menu and that she should rectify it for future orders and she just repeated the same answer. It was clearly not my error. She did not even offer any credit for a future order (my order was nearly $60). I guess it was too bad for me. Although I must state that the rest of the 3 orders were delicious. Ate for the first time at Sylvain's today. I'm a local from the area and have seen these types of restaurants come & go in the Cove shopping center. Unfortunately, they didn't do much to gain my repeat business! First of all, I order an omelet and requested to change the cheese from swiss to feta. They omelet arrived with swiss! They took it back and I could hear the owner/chef arguing with the waitress about how the omelet comes with swiss. Made me feel like I did something wrong! My wife & I don't eat gluten so we asked to substitute our 2 sides with sliced tomatoes & fruit. Little did we know that they tacked on $7.90 extra for 2 small cups of fruit. When we asked about it they said that this is what they do even though the upcharge for fruit (on the menu) stated $1.45, not $3.95! The manager agued with us about the upcharges, really! For a side of fruit they've lost a regular customer that would have frequented the place often. That's too bad that they couldn't see the forest through the trees. Let's see how long this restaurant stays in business. Only time will tell...... read more

I was heading over to sticky Bun and they were closed. Across the parking lot I saw this cafe. So I decided to give it a try and so glad I did! I sat outside because my gf and I had our dog with us. Inside it was cozy looking and very small these are the little gems you find when your not looking. We were greeted by sherry who was super friendly and very helpful on what to order. She even brought our dog some water I had blueberry pancakes they were light and fluffy super good. My gf had the French crepe it came with two big crepes filled with brie, eggs and mushrooms. It was delicious! Potatoes were seasoned very well...even the coffee was good. Definitely will be back..looking forward to trying other dishes. Service & food was decent, to say the least. I appreciated being greeted by others as we walked in. I ordered French toast well done & our table also ordered the quiche of the day (delicious if you like runny eggs) & 2 breakfast orders, 1 for a child & 1 for an adult. Server mixed up the breakfast orders & gave the adult the child's portion (w/wrong side) & the child the adult portion. Server quickly brought the correct side for the adult but never did bring the 2nd egg the adult ordered. Both parties enjoyed the food. I didn't think it would be difficult to get the well done French toast wrong but apparently it is more difficult than anticipated. I made sure everyone in my party tasted it before sending it back & all agreed- it tasted like raw egg batter & soggy toast. I asked to have it cooked more & any other place would probably have brought a new well-done portion considering it was already covered in powdered sugar. At Sylvain's, they 'cooked' the same French toast a bit more & completely covered it in more powdered sugar. I was hopeful it would be better but it was still awfully raw - sweet, soggy, thin & stale. As I mentioned, I was told the quiche was wonderful & I did end up filling up on the homestyle potatoes since I could not bring myself to finish the French toast. My party who liked the runny egg quiche ended up eating most of it. The server did come back to check on us but never asked how the food was - with good reason. I would not have left this review had the server cared more or taken the French toast off the check ($5.75). We also had to get up to pay after waiting for over 15 minutes for the server to take our card. read more
