We had a great breakfast experience at Sylvans Cafe. From the outstanding service to the very delicious crepe I was extremely pleased. This is a local business serving American food with a French chef who adds a "twist" as stated in their Yelp profile. This was certainly the case with my order. Located in the Deerfield beach "Cove" shopping plaza, the restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside. Upon entering, my first thought was it's really small and needs a face lift. So, it might be considered a "hole in the wall" by some but turned out a "gem"to me. It was quite busy and we were lucky to be seated right away at the one remaining table. Our server promptly brought our coffee and water. We told her it was our first visit and she spent a good bit of time praising the chef and telling us about the longevity of the restaurant and great food. She also showed us the board with all the daily specials. I ordered the french crepe which was a tasty scrambled combo of eggs, Swiss cheese and ham wrapped in a thin yummy pancake (aka a crepe) . My boyfriend went with a traditional egg, sausage and french toast breakfast. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Everything was cooked perfectly with great flavors. The parking is easy (and free in certain spots) and the prices were very fair. Who cares about the decor, i believe we found a new breakfast spot for sure. read more

Wanted to try a place I hadn't been looked on yelp found this one. got a good review so we thought we'd give it a try. I must say the tuna salad was good. I had a scoop fairly priced but potato chips $2.45 are you kidding me not even a fresh bag just on the plate we also had the French toast which was also delicious and a cup of coffee parking is interesting there they have a paid parking lot but they said it's not paid. You just have to register. I don't understand it it was close to closing. The waiter was fine and the ambience was clean like a luncheonette. read more

We used to come to this cafe almost every weekend because the old chef was THE BEST, and the quality of the food was always consistently good. We absolutely loved coming here. I would always order the exact same item every time -- I never changed my order, to the point that the servers already remembered what I wanted! That's why I could really tell when something changed. Over the last one to two months, my husband and I noticed that the quality was no longer the same. After eating there, we both experienced an unpleasant feeling in our stomachs, and the food had a strange aftertaste that became really hard to ignore. We still gave it a few more tries because we were hoping the old chef would come back from vacation. We honestly thought he might just be away for a while because good breakfast food is hard to find! Then we realized... the chef had actually left! It took us quite a while to finally find him again, but I was SO happy when we discovered where he is now -- across from Larb Thai-Isan! And suddenly, everything made sense. At the old cafe, we had started noticing other changes too. The portions seemed smaller, and we were being charged for sides that we previously never had to pay for. We also noticed changes like a new refrigerator and the 80s posters disappearing. At first, we didn't think much of it. But as the food quality continued to decline and that strange aftertaste became unbearable, we finally decided it was time to look for a new breakfast spot. And luckily, we found the chef again! We are SO happy to have found him and his delicious food again. There really is a difference when you have a chef who takes pride in what he prepares and genuinely cares about the quality of the food. I honestly don't know what changed at the old cafe, but as longtime customers, it felt like the quality and experience that originally kept us coming back were no longer the same. That was really disappointing because we genuinely loved the place. But now we know where to go for our good breakfast again! Good food is definitely worth driving a little farther for! read more

Went here on a Sunday @1100, very busy.. the staff are not nice number one.. they're very passive aggressive, and I understand it's busy, but the way we were greeted and rushed out was not pleasant. Being here the first time will be my last... The food was at best mid.. steak and eggs not a good choice..grits were dry....crepes were edible, steer away from the lox.. the coffee was good... the 2 eggs and toast were good..just wish the service was as good as the coffee. The biscuits and gravy were excellent. Those biscuits tasted great. The Parisian Crepes tasted great. I loved those home fries. They were well seasoned and tasted great. It was a small cafe. It had an outdoor sitting area. Inside is small. They have the specials posted on a wall. The kitchen was an open kitchen. You can see them preparing things. That was cool. The food service was fast. The Cafe is towards the east side of a strip mall with plenty of parking around. I had not problems finding it. The place does get busy. read more

If you are a food delivery driver, do not pick up orders from this place! It is extremely small with no room to stand, they make you wait outside. I waited for 30 minutes before I got the order. At 15 minutes, I went back inside and said, just to confirm, you will bring it out to me and let me know when it's ready correct? I saw a bag sitting there but they just simply said, yes. 15 more minutes went by and I went inside and said that the order was about to be canceled. They then turned and handed me the bag that had been sitting there since the last time I had gone in 15 minutes prior.. Absolutely ridiculous! Also, I can't imagine why anyone would even want to go and eat in this tiny little place with people standing on top of you just to get basic diner food. Literally go anywhere else. read more

Along with other good restaurants and shops located in the Cove shopping center in Deerfield Beach, I found the food at Sylvia's Cafe quite good with a large selection to choose from, including crepes. The inside and outside tables, clean and seasonally decorated interior were all appreciated. The service, however wasn't the best as the hostess and the waiters weren't too cheery. I am used to home fries being fried on the outside and soft on the inside. Hashbrowns: Delicious. Crispy on top and soft on the bottom. French Toast: Absolutely fluffy, with the perfect amount of powdered sugar. There was no fried egg on the toast, like some restaurants that use more egg than anything else. Would order this again! Grand Slam: Canadian ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, and home fries. Great ham slice. Great bacon. The bacon/sausage was not cooked to my grandmother's liking & the server had no issues taking it back to be fired up again. -Only con: I ordered a biscuit and it did not receive it. The service was extremely poor due to waitress forgetting our place in line, sarcastic remarks during serving us, and wrong bill this all happened on January 11th. I would not recommend and will never go back again. Good customer service is still needed in 2026. My boyfriend insisted in going here again because of the food. I regretted coming here again. The incident was on Match 8, 2026 around 1:15 pm . The older waitress in her 60s faked an allergy to an ingredient in my perfume, Patchouli oil. Instead of getting another server, she was loud and made a scene. I believe this was a cover for being a racist. I left immediately. I am disgusted by the lack of professionalism. 1st of all I am not a very agreeable person and never have I bestowed a 5 star review on anything or anyone. Saturday May 23rd, 2026 changed all that. I slid into this cafe not expecting too much, a decent lunch with decent service and average metrics all the way around I thought as I made my way to a freshly set table. Almost immediately I was acknowledged with a big smile and a sincere welcome. My server was Jennifer and I remember her name because I remember the most exceptional service she provided. Friendly, honest engaging and professional. Most fall short on the professional metric, not this Jennifer. Absolutely rocked my experience. I found myself actually excited about lunch service again. The service made the meal. The service made my day. Again, thank you Jennifer. Well done. I can say those were the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. Huge assortment of fruit , berries, melons, bananas, strawberries, tangerines with eggs prepared your way with side of bacon & sausage. A Great deal! Delicious, prepared perfectly. Nice job. My order of French toast with strawberries was excellent Large thick bread slices with large lean pieces of bacon. The good stuff priced competitively. Hash browns were excellent. I have been here several times, and the food has always been great BUT, this last time I lost my appetite after watching our waitress Jen who was wearing gloves for some reason come from smoking outside and then 15 minutes later come from out of the restroom, served our food and still wearing the same gloves!!!! I was completely disgusted and will NEVER have her as a waitress again. She must be reasonably new here, because I have been coming here for quite some time and hadn't seen her before. I WILL be contacting restaurant management and then the local health department about my experience. read more

We came for lunch, but I should have had their breakfast. My husband's meal was fantastic. Mine was good -- but not outstanding. This casual restaurant is located in the Cove shopping center. It's a busy area, but we were lucky to find parking out front. The restaurant is small but there are also a few outside tables. The staff is great. They obviously like working there and work well together. It was a pleasure to see -- and to experience. Sylvain is actually there -- manning the grill -- and dispensing his unique sense of (French) humor. I had their soup and sandwich lunch. A chicken salad on toasted rye (it's not Jewish rye) with a cup of split pea soup that had bits of ham in it. I liked the chicken salad as it wasn't overly wet from mayo. My husband's breakfast was great. The biscuits were soft and fluffy. The sausage gravy was delicious. It came with two eggs which he got over easy. And also home fries -- which were quite good. For dessert, I had a piece of coconut cream pie. It was decorated doth extra whipped cream and some blueberries and strawberry slices. Well don't know what was worse, the service or the food. My server was very rude and basically was telling me what I would and would not like, not knowing me whatsoever. I also heard her speaking with another table and I guess she couldn't hear them.. she continued to sing a song making fun of them as she walked away. The coffee tasted burnt. I ordered the special which was avocado toast and my eggs over hard with yolk broken well done with cheese. They arrived over medium slightly drippy. I'm not sure why avocado toast would come with a side of toast but it did. With three other breakfast restaurants in the same plaza, they really don't care about competition service or food . A cool little breakfast lunch joint across from The Sticky Bun, my usual Deerfield Beach stop, which was closed, it's a pleasant surprise to find another great spot for breakfast and lunch in the same center! Coffee is excellent. They fresh slice meats like ham, for their dishes, which is a nice change up. Most of their egg dishes are generous on the hen grenades. The hash browns were perfect Portions are huge! Service was excellent. I ding it one star because it gets brutally loud in the indoor dining room. Concrete ceilings and hard surfaces everywhere, a large party at the front sounds like a Space X launch. Can't be good for the staff, working in there, every day. A couple of sound pads on the ceiling bring this place into easy five star range, for everything else. Parking is plentiful too! read more
