Not a perfect visit but a decent visit and I am a CB Loyalty member. Came in after a rainstorm and was served by Ms. T (or similar name). We were in the 3rd (rear dining room) and server, who I noted had many stars on her apron and may have been a CB five (5) star server, began by offering drinks. I let her know we could order all. With my Uncle Herschel's breakfast I asked for the Ciuntry (salty) ham and told how I wanted the eggs cooked. My Uncle Herschel's according to the menu supposedly comes with a Side choice. I asked whether there were any healthy" side choices. I stumped her for a little while as I thought of Fried Apples. She eventually responded "grits or fruit cup." I told her I wanted grits. CB has the best grits and I really enjoyed them with the eggs, ham, biscuits, and gravy. But the Country salty ham was too tough, and therefore, largely inedible. I know grits aren't healthy though, lol. While butter was brought out no jelly was brought out (guess I didn't really need the extra calories) but I think jelly/jam should have been brought out to the table being that it was breakfast. Afterwards, in the gift shop I saw one of the managers, Danny, who has worked there over ten (10) years and who I've known longer than ten (10) years. He walked by me in the gift shop AT least three (3) times but never looked my way. No real hospitality ... from him anyway. I would have preferred a real One Stip Shop at breakfast instead of merely being offered drinks. Some jellies/jams would have been nice. Food, with Over Easy eggs (?) took a surprisingly long time to prepare. The question mark is because Over Easy eggs are quick to prepare. Server, despite being a possible to star, was largely absent. This was my first experience at a Cracker Barrel. I decided to come to this one, because it was in a nice city. Ambiance was nice. Love the shop in the front. They had Christmas decor, and stuff for kids. I noticed there was a lot of regulars coming in. Which I thought was really nice. We played with the checkers they had on display. The interior was nice as well and again I noticed a lot of regulars. Had an Arnold Palmer and it was soooooo goood! On to the food! Had the biscuits to start and they were so fluffy and buttery and soft. You could tell it was freshly baked. I had the fried chicken meal. It tasted like kfc original recipe. Wasnt crispy. But I think it's not supposed to be. Side of mash and gravy was good but salty. Mac and cheese was perfect. Bf had the 3 meat. Meatloaf was my favorite. I guess I've never had meatloaf till now. Always thought I didn't like it. But it was really good. Especially the glaze on the outside. Chicken and dumplings were bland, but i think it's supposed to be that way. It wasn't for me though. My only dilemma with this location is the gravy on the Chicken Fried steak was thick and I remember this gravy being homemade. The gravy was not homemade this time and it didn't taste well. Took my husband here for his first time ever at a Cracker Barrel. He he the grandfather (two eggs over easy sausage, grits, and casserole) I had the garden scramble(eggs cheese, peppers, onions, tomato, and mushroom) with the casserole as well (basically hash browns with cheese and onion) the food was extremely tasty and came out nice and quick, hot and ready to eat. I was happily surprised for a 5-star experience at Cracker Barrel today. I love walking through the store and the decor is a fun nostalgic vibe - especially with the peg game! We were seated immediately at 10:45am and the server said it was no issue ordering from the lunch menu. Amazing! She was knowledgeable and fast. I had 2 pancakes and 2 scrambled eggs. Both were delicious. The maple syrup was warm and tasty, and I got a side of strawberry syrup which S liked. S ordered on the healthy side... grilled chicken, broccoli, and green beans. Low end experience today - even for Cracker Barrel. Went in with fair expectations having been there numerous times. We were sat quickly and our server came over immediately to take a drink order. She continued to come back every 2 minutes asking if we were ready to order. We ordered a started of the cheese curds which were pretty good but an extremely small portion. Then I ordered the fried chicken, which I had tried before and really enjoyed, but this time I was unimpressed. Prior to ordering I asked if it was white or dark meat and was told it was a mix. I received a drumstick, a wing; and 2 small thighs, not one piece of white meat. And for dark meat, it was dried out. As someone who's previously visited this location and had exceptional service with other servers such as Angela, today our experience was completely different. I mention this because I love cracker barrel and this is not a typical experience we've had at this restaurant but this needs to be addressed. We visited for a Mother's day brunch, upon arrival we were greeted by very kind hostesses and nothing went wrong there. Upon being seated we were greeted by our server and right off the bat we were in shock by the way she was speaking to us. Our server's name was Monica this time, She asked what we'd like to drink, as we told her we wanted to put in my toddler's food first so it is out sooner she rolls her eyes but took our order anyways for her food. We ordered a mimosa pitcher for the adults to share and she proceeded to decline my mother the right to have a drink (she is 52 and looks it too), I asked how so as I know the Florida law requires ID if you look under 30, and her response was "no we have to ID everyone as our company is new to the alcohol business." We accepted and moved on, then she asked us if we wanted BOTH the biscuits and corn bread that came with our meal, we said yes so she came back leaning all over my daughters high chair and closely missed her head with the basket. We still had appetizer plates on the table when our meal came and asked if she could please remove them and again there was a near miss which this time I had to block as otherwise she would have hit my 10 month old in the head with the tray. Throughout this time when we ate she continued to make side comments and get ridiculously close to my daughter. During our time eating she even was arguing with other staff members in front of the guests. When the check came, we noticed she had added an item there for which we had not consumed or even ordered for which we told her and before we could finish talking she had dashed away and rapidly came back and handed us the correct receipt as if she knew what was wrong before even arriving. Cracker Bust is more like it. Huge disappointment. We've gone there several times in the past, value meals, good service. Not today. First, the prices. Whoa! We got charged $17.68 for the signature fried chicken and when I produced the $5 coupon, it knocked the price down to the regular price of $15.49. Now, maybe that was the system's way of discounting for the coupon, but when you look at the receipt, it looks like we were overcharged for that meal. We also got charged $2.19 for a cup of chicken noodle soup that my husband asked to have as a side for his meal. Now, we understand about upcharges. But the server, who was new, didn't tell us it cost more. Tell us first, and we'll pay the price but when you expect it to be included in the meal... The biscuits were hard and stale, my husband's tea tasted like coffee, which means the water came from the coffee machine that probably hasn't been cleaned in a while. The server, well, my husband asked for a spoon for his tea. The spoon never arrived. Nor did she ever return and ask if we wanted a beverage refill. The spoon did come with the soup, which was served a couple of minutes before the food and then the server pushed the soup, which my husband was still eating, out of the way. Maybe she sensed the soup was not tasty? The meatloaf was fine, chicken was fine, but between the prices and the service, it was a huge letdown. We've eaten at other Cracker Barrel restaurants around the county and they were always reliable and good.
