Downtown tavern style bar and grill. Dined in on a cold weeknight and the restaurant was still very busy. Needed a few minutes to be seated. Service was spectacular. Ultra attentive. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Water was always filled. Waitress consistently came around on time for drink orders. Some of the best service that I recall in recent memory. Drink wise, they have a big wine list. I'm not wine expert but there seemed to be a solid variety though there were only a few options available by the glass. I opted for a beer first and then switched over to a cocktail. I had the old pal which was a take on an old fashioned and I also tried a pistachio and mezcal cocktail. For food, we started with the butter beans and the lobster orzo. Then came the mixed greens salad, the burger, and one of the daily specials - mushroom au poiuvre. The burger was a double smash burger which seemed to be their specialty. It was excellent! Super savory and crispy meat, but pricey at $26 for the burger with a side of fries. Loved the mushrooms too, but again pricey for the dish. I believe there were two gender neutral restrooms. The one I used was spacious. Atmosphere was very chic. This is a solid 4! I don't see this as a 5 but the hype around this spot was real. It took a bit to get a reservation. The atmosphere is nice, good date spot. Also really close to where I live :) The rave talk was around the burger and I can see why folks enjoyed it. I did too. The fries were just ok - nothing special at all. Yes, yes and more yes! We had a wonderful evening here. It hit all of the elements- ambiance, food and service- out of the park. They were so accommodating towards us. We enjoyed the mussels as a starter just to switch it up. It was a wonderful choice. Bread and sauce were delicious. We tried a number of their signature drinks including the pistachio which was unique and very good. The servers were helpful, personable, kind and of course my favorite- present without being overbearing. The short ribs were delectable with very tasty fries. The steak was perfectly cooked. I was afraid that I would still feel hungry since it was served with just a salad but the balance was perfect and I ended up feeling satisfied. Super cozy, neighborhood spot. We were delighted to get a Resy this week. With tin ceilings and brick walls this charming restaurant didn't disappoint in ambiance or service. We tried the goat cheese, clams casino, and cheeseburger. We were not disappointed! The cheeseburger was indulgent, and definitely good to split. This place has such a cute vibe, lowly lit and a ton of booths. I've read that the burger and fries tastes like an elevated McDonald's fries and burger, and it surprisingly does but in the best way. Swoony's is an excellent and vibrant restaurant addition to the area. The chef hails from Cafe Spaghetti, another neighborhood gem, and it is readily apparent that Swoony's puts in the same level of care into their food and service. We enjoyed every item we ordered. We started with the baked clams (6 to an order) and tuna tartare appetizers, the former which was stuffed with bacon and the latter which included hazelnuts and truffle flavor and was served with both nori and toasted bread. For our main course, we shared the short rib au poivre and a side of Gruyère creamed spinach. Both of these items were delicious and went well together. The short rib is served with French fries of a perfect crispness, and also a garlicky mayo dipping sauce. We had a reservation but opted to sit at the bar, and were well taken care of throughout the evening by the bartender Justin. Being someone who grew up in this neighborhood, I'm always excited to try and support new places in the area. ESPECIALLY Coming from the owner of a fairly new neighborhood favorite, Cafe Spaghetti, I was even more excited to try it. Packed on a random Tuesday night. Staff was exceptionally well trained. We had Skylar from Ohio, he was great. Drinks were extremely well made. I got the Pistachio one, and wow- I'd be back just for that drink alone. Although the entrees were tasty, our burger bun was burnt and fries resembled a bit of mcds. The bun was the main thing I was excited about too because it looked so soft! Which is was ... but just completely black on the inside. Shouldn't of been served. Appetizers were the winners in my eyes. We had the tuna tar tar, the prawns, and the wedge salad. Can't imagine this not being 5 stars. We sat at the bar and our bartender / server Nicolas was fantastic. His cocktails were rock solid and I strongly recommend their white negroni as a follow-on to a gin martini featuring their Maytag blue cheese-stuffed olives. We loved the whipped goat cheese and tuna tartare starters. And don't sleep on their Wedge Salad (this brings steakhouse wedge salads to shame). And while we will 100% go back for the burger, as watching people's orgasmic reactions to their first and second bites was quite the testimonial, we highly recommend the Short Rib Au Poivre. Great menu full of cool takes on some classics. Started out with a great cocktail list and ordered 2 apps- the lobster orzo (the best thing I tasted all night) and the brussels (also very good). For entrees we got the short rib and hanger steak and we loved both, the short rib was tender and the cowboy butter on the hanger steak was amazing. There were so many other things we wanted to try on the menu like the cod or chicken, so will definitely be back. My lovely friend and I went to dinner here for my birthday on a Saturday night at 5:45 PM. I made the reservation a week before and the only openings were early or around 9 PM. The place was busy from 6 PM and on there were a couple of people with their children having dinner, one kid around one year old kept yelling which was not great so just something to be aware of if you go at an early time for dinner. we ordered the whipped ricotta which was beyond amazing. I've had it before at other places but the way they do it is so good. we also got a deviled egg which was delicious and they added some roe on the top which I could've done without just because I'm not a big fan of that stuff, but it was all amazing. for our main dishes my friend got the burger, which she found delicious. I got the special roast beef sandwich with potato salad, which was super delicious. for dessert we ordered the French toast and because it was my birthday we got the vanilla soft serve for free which was delicious, but I don't think I would pay for it. The French toast was by far the best ever. It was very buttery and toasted really well. Definitely the dessert to get. We also got a cake with a candle just as a gesture, which was cute. The dishes are nothing that I haven't seen at other places, but the ways that they are made, and the flavors are the best I've ever had. Everything was incredibly well seasoned. And I can't forget the cocktails- I got La Chingona, which was a hazy IPA cocktail super delicious and I haven't had anything like it anywhere else. read more

We got a reservation and it was not super busy when we got there at 5:30. We thought the lighting created the perfect ambience. We got the deviled egg, lobster orzo, goat cheese, and burger. The deviled egg was good but $9 is kind of a lot for an egg. He loved the orzo and I loved the goat cheese. We saw that someone else had ordered more bread to finish the cheese which we also did. This place deserves a Michelin star--no debate. Hands down, the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. Every dish was an absolute masterpiece. The lobster orzo was soooo good! I will definitely get again next time. The clams were good but the orzo was such a standout. For our meals I got the cod and it was beyond good. My wife brought me here to celebrate my Birthday, server couldn't have been nicer or helpful. The food was very good we had the clams casino (7 out of 10), lobster risotto (10 out of 10), a burger which my wife wanted to order another one before we finished the first one (100 out of 10) and the short ribs (8.5 out of 10). Finished with the French toast and vanilla ice cream, incredible but a lot of sugar ( worth it). Only complaint was as we were checking out hostess came over to let us know the next reservation was there we would have to move from the table. We were literally putting our jackets on she could've noticed that we were leaving and not have bothered us just need to learn how to read the room and know the person's leaving without bothering them otherwise an incredible experience . read more

I had high hopes for this new neighborhood place, run by the folks that own (the superior, imo) Cafe Spaghetti, but I left feeling disappointed. The place is really cute and has a nice, casual buzzy feel to it -- really warm and inviting and fun. We started with the Lobster Orzo and the Wedge. The Wedge fared better, but it could have used more dressing and a bit more blue cheese oomph. The Orzo was okay, but it was kind of watery instead of creamy, and though it had a decent lobster flavor the pieces of lobster in it has a slightly spongy, defrosted quality, and something was missing, flavorwise. It was a bit drab. For our main we split the Short Rib au Poirve, and ordered a side of creamed spinach. The Spinach was excellent -- densely creamed and topped with gruyere and breadcrumbs. Yum. And the fries were good. The short rib itself was alright. It had a slightly gamey taste, and the Au Poivre sauce had no poivre at all -- there was no black pepper anywhere, which confused me. For dessert, I tried the French Toast, which, honestly, I found to be kind of gross. It was clearly deep fried and was saturated in some oil -- or maybe butter?? I don't know, but it was not appealing to me. It was topped, incongruously with come chopped walnuts, and the server poured some maple syrup on it. I was kind of hoping for something custardy and creamy but this was not it. My dining companion had the chocolate mousse, which was serviceable. I wish this place a lot of luck -- the neighborhood needs a great restaurant in this vein, and they are busy, which is great. But I'll stick to Cafe Spaghetti. read more

If this place were slightly cheaper, it'd be a five. The vibes are immaculate, and the hyped burger is delicious. The use of a fluffy, but stable Portuguese bun really levels up the juicy patties. That said, $25 for a burger (without bacon or special add ons) and fries is a lot, especially given the burger is standard size. The burger is soooooo good! The bread: it's so deliciously soft and warm and I'm NOT super into bread like that and yet.. omg! it was perfect! So amazingly delicious and paired Uber well with the burger! The meat: perfectly cooked! Moist (I know that word sucks but great adjective here, I promise!) The cheese: I'm not into American cheese, but somehow this works well. I prob would choose another cheese if given the option but this was still a great pairing! The sauce! Yesssss!!!! The shrimp cocktail was terrible I think the 4 shrimps were probably from a frozen pack medium size did not taste fresh!. The portion are too small. I asked if I could have mash potatoes instead of the French fries, well they gave me the mash but charged me 4.00 more, no vegetables , not even a piece of bread. They are over priced and certainly could be because they have to pay all the waiters running around. Excessive amount of staff all over the place. I would have loved to have had a great experience. Might give it another try in a few months if the restaurant is still open. Ugh read more

Wowwwieee! This burger is the bees knees. Honestly the best smash variety burger I've ever had. The warm soft bun! The simple pickle and special sauce. Went with my husband and two toddlers.
