Came in today to sweetheart just about 15 minutes before close to get some donuts for a birthday. Was looking to get a dozen donuts plus a few extra for my wife and I. I asked if it was possible to get an assorted dozen with no sprinkle donuts and was told no; that I would have to pay for each donut individually. It was also mentioned that a normal assorted dozen had 3-4 sprinkled donuts. After paying a total of $50 for 16 total donuts, and delivering the dozen donuts as a birthday gift I arrived home ripe with anticipation to try my tasty treats. Lo and behold this monstrosity of an Apple Fritter bequeathed my eyes when I opened the box of 4 donuts I had gotten for my wife and I. It was absolutely burnt, unsellable levels of burnt. What could have been a beautiful caramelized layer of sugar was tarnished into a crispy oblivion. This Apple fritter is single handedly the most disappointing donut I have ever purchased; and what makes it even more disappointing is two out of the twelve donuts I gifted were these monstrous Apple fritters. I feel as if I have committed a crime in gifting someone such a tarnished creation. It is beyond me how these made it to the floor. Omg the girl who is working the counter this morning (7/23 at 10am) was so rude and obviously hates her life. Lots of people who would like to support local businesses but not with an attitude and no politeness or helpfulness in terms of what donuts you have in the case. Just a "we don't have that" and no other explanation as to what is in the case. Sorry but there are no signs on the case and it is set back from the door so it's hard for people to see without asking questions. We stopped by this morning to satisfy a donut craving and are so glad we did!! The service was amazing - friendly and genuine! As we peered into the case the kind woman working opened up the glass doors to provide us with a better view of the selection and even hand picked the best, freshest chocolate ring off of the cart. As we were paying another woman entered from the back, reached under the counter and handed us two dog treats saying she'd seen our pup in our car in the parking lot - such a sweet and appreciated gesture! The donuts were INCREDIBLE, by far the best raspberry bismarck I have ever had! The maple bar, chocolate and glazed rings were amazing also. Will be back to this gem for sure!!! read more

My BF is a donut aficionado and after trying several places in town, he is convinced this place is the best! I hate donuts but love the donuts at Sweetheart; I think they are more like a gourmet, high end donut. I think the price is just right for the quality ($2-$3.50) and because I have no idea what donuts are supposed to cost, but my BF told me most donut places are like $1/donut. They make their donuts fresh every morning and they just melt in your mouth. Light, fluffy, and sweet. I like the giant pretzel, which is donut dough in a pretzel shape, glazed and drizzled in chocolate and maple. It's not for daily breakfast, but it's a nice treat. My boyfriend's fave is the lemon jelly donut. We've also tried just about every fritter flavor. Fritters, I learned, are donut dough chopped up like ground beef, mixed with preserves and formed like a little hamburger patty, then fried. It's a little more solid and substantial than a donut, and kind of crispy on the outside. I wish it had a little more fruity jam mixed in, but it's pretty awesome. One other suggestion I would have for the store is, please get a frequent buyer card for people who buy single donuts! Not all of us are super unhealthy crazy dozen-donut buyers, yet we still visit frequently....I save my donut for dessert. read more

I'm sorry to say that this usually well-reviewed shop was less than stellar in both departments. The dough was okay (not great but not terrible), but the biggest disappointment was the glazing. The glaze tasted okay (again, not great but not terrible), but the biggest disappointment is that the glaze only covered part of the donut hole. What? Why would you sell a donut hole that isn't completely covered with glaze? If the entire donut hole isn't soaked, dipped, rolled, or whatever, in glaze, part of it is going to be mostly free of glaze and therefore dry and tasteless. (P.S. OMG! So many choices and everything looked delicious! Service was super friendly, too! I decided on a chocolate raised donut and it was devine!!! Perfectly made and not a trace of greasiness. It was so good that I ate it slowly so I can savor every bite. However, had to drop a star due to the raspberry fritter that my husband and I shared. It was overly fried that it was crispy.
