We made a quick stop into Backporch Coffee Roasters and we had a great experience! We went around 11am and they were busy but there were still open tables / couches to sit at. The staff were friendly as we ordered our drinks and food. The inside was really cute to sit down and enjoy drinks and food. We ordered a hot latte, iced match latte and a Jalapeno and Swiss bagel. Everything we had was delicious and the bagel was a surprising highlight for us! It was super fluffy and had a kick of spice because of the jalapeños. read more

We noticed the good reviews and were in need a quick breakfast bite and some coffees this weekend. There was a fairly long line, but I'm a decaf drinker and always searching out places that use Water Processed beans, which they thankfully use. As for service, extremely pleasant and incredibly fast prep time as compared to most coffee joints. The 2 coffees we got were great, as was the bagel. We grabbed some beans and instants to take with us too. The place is small but cute, with a small lot and street parking. We were happy enough with the whole package to return the next day for our coffee as well. Definitely returning when in town! read more

Talking with locals in the area about the best coffee companies, Backporch was one that came up multiple times. Thankfully there was one right across from our airbnb so I ended up stopping in multiple mornings. The place itself is open early; it seemed most people were grabbing stuff to go on the way to work. They also had plenty of indoor seating; cozy chairs, small tables, high tops. It seemed like a great place to meet or do quiet work. They had boards with what the feature coffees of the day were, along with bags of beans to enjoy at home. For breakfast, they had a number of pastries and bagels; I went with the latter and a tall cup of black coffee on each visit. Prices were reasonable for the quality. For toasting, they have a do-it-yourself toaster at the creamer table. The staff was friendly. They also have multiple locations around the city, so if you're visiting Bend I'm sure there's one near you. read more

Stopped in for some coffee after having breakfast in town, we both decided to try the Bombay latte & also bought a bag of coffee beans to use later. (You get a free 8oz drip coffee with the purchase of a bag of coffee)- overall the coffee was really good, the Bombay has cinnamon and maple flavoring and was super tasty! The drip coffee was good to, it was nice to try one of the blends they had brewed that day. The staff was all very nice & the drinks were made fairly quick. The inside of the shop is super cute, if I lived in bend it would definitely be a place I would come to read or do work. This is a great coffeeshop. The barista and Server behind the counter have both been friendly and helpful. The first time I went there, I got a Hazelnut Latte for my hubby, and a Green Tea Latte for myself. My Green Tea Latte was basically "off the menu" but it was the Fez green tea from Smith Tea Makers, with Steamed Oatmilk, and some vanilla & honey as sweeteners. And, my second time, I ordered the same Green Tea Latte for me, but I got a Mocha for my hubby. I tried a little sample of his drinks both time and they were amazing, really well done. And, I was very impressed at how delicious my Green Tea Latte came out! Also, the 2nd time I went I got a "baklava roll" for my hubby that was Brioche dough, with cinnamon roll feeling, and a chocolate chip cookie for me. Everything was delicious, and it was a great space you could grab a table and read a book or do work on your laptop or other device. I am grateful that our airbnb is 1 block walk away from this place, it is such a great find! read more

WOW I am so impressed with Backporch Coffee Roasters! Stopped here when driving through Bend to check out a local coffee roaster - ended up coming back multiple times during my 1.5 weeks in the area. The coffee is just really good. I got hot and iced lattes that were consistently made well. On my first visit to this location I got the honey lavender latte and loved it. My friend and I each walked away with a bag of beans to take home. We also tried out the pour-over packets which are perfect for camping or having in class. They have a case of great-looking baked goodies - the only vegan item is a bagel (hope for more in the future) and there are some gluten-free items. The sea salt chocolate chip cookie is amazing! There are also some bars and chocolate bars. The atmosphere is very laid back. It's the perfect spot to hang out with a friend or study/work on a laptop. Not too loud inside and they have free wifi that works very well (I was able to stream videos without any issues). Can't wait to come back! read more

I like to declare myself an Iced Vanilla Latte connoisseur. Backporch coffee roasters knows how to do a vanilla latte and it brings me back every time I go in. Knowing taste preference is definitely a factor, I do prefer to be able to taste the espresso but also have a balance of lightly sweetened vanilla in the mix as well. So I definitely favor an iced vanilla latte that isn't too sweet or too milky that I can't taste the espresso. The coffee shop itself is cozy and clean. Service is always quick as well. Favorite place for an iced latte in Bend, Oregon at the moment. read more

Wow what a great local chain for coffee. We were heading to brunch but didn't want to wait an hour so we pivoted to Backporch. We parked on the street so I'm not sure if they have their own lot but we had no issues with finding parking on a Friday late morning. I got a honey lavender latte, half sweet with oat milk sub. It was nice and creamy and the espresso was perfectly done with hints of chocolate and nuts. I'm not too big of a fan of their lavender syrup as it almost tasted just a bit soapy for me. Next time I'll stick with simple syrup and just enjoy the wonderful espresso. The oat milk was perfectly creamy and a great complement to their coffee :) They carry pastries from a couple of local bakeries including Sparrow. I tried the Ocean (croissant dough with cardamom and vanilla plus a hint of sea salt) which was incredibly tasty and perfect with coffee, and also the bacon and cheese scone which was surprisingly filling. They also have banana bread but I like to try the off-the-wall unique pastries whenever I visit new coffee spots. Highly recommend theirs! I also bought a bag of coffee beans for my coffee snob sister LOL. I asked one of the baristas for recs and got the Peloton which is a Colombian roast that brews nicely as a drip coffee with lovely tasting notes. The place is cute inside with plenty of seats but there were also a few tables right outside where we could enjoy the sun and the beautiful Fall weather. The baristas are all super kind, friendly and genuine which made the experience even better. We will definitely be back before we head out of town! :) read more

I don't ever really leave reviews but my experience this morning at the Newport location was terrible. the register barista said that there was hot coffee in the turmeric latte and then the final barista said that there wasn't. I didn't want it remade because it took 15 minutes with few people in the lobby and I had to leave for work. i returned the coffee and left and when asked if could be refunded they said no. the service is what was terrible and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. 0 stars. read more

Great place with great coffee. I'm from LA and visited Bend for a week. Family told me about another coffee shop called Looney Bean (I think) so I tried that out, I was not impressed. Then I found this place by chance, they are really great! Being a coffee snob from LA I've had lots of different drinks, but Backporch is really well rounded. Smooth, house-roasted coffee and espresso, nice medium body with a brown sugary finish, low acidity. Their syrups taste house made but I didn't ask. The vanilla and lavender taste like the real McCoy. They have a lot of options too: lattes, americanos, cappuccino, espresso tonics, macchiatos etc. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and didn't talk down to you as if you're some complete idiot for asking questions. (Usual practice for LA baristas) I'd say the best coffee I've tried so far in Bend. Looking forward to checking out other places but I'd definitely recommend Backporch for the more distinguished coffee drinker. read more

In town for The Great American Eclipse, we were ISO a good coffee place, and found these guys on Yelp. I hate to say it- but we're kind of coffee snobs...I know, I know...how unoriginal, but we like coffee and we like it a particular way. So, let me start by saying these people are AWESOME. They were friendly, and nice...helped us with selecting drinks and some fresh ground beans for our b&b the next morning. They all get 5 stars. We also selected a couple of scones...I kinda want to cry a little bit thinking about those...they were beyond delicious. They get a 5 stars...or 6... The coffee? Well, it was ok...I didn't love it. But it was fresh and it was ok. So 3 stars for the coffee. Cool place - local coffee shop with great service and a cool vibe. Go here- meet nice people and eat an amazing little scone. I'm after a bit more involved and intellectual coffee experience that goes well beyond the brown beverage that puts a little pep in my step each morning, and that's exactly what I got at Backporch, and why id suggest any coffee Lovin' fool in Bend pay them a visit. I love the sleek, modern, bright feel of Backporch. The big windows let in lots of light, which is amplified by the white walls, and the high ceiling took the ambient sound of morning conversation and transformed it into a symphony of white noise that had me focusing on the coffee in front of me. When I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted with a big smile. The barista gladly told me about the various coffees they were pouring upon my request, and did it in a really approachable manner that would have any customer intrigued, and even make them slightly more appreciative of the coffee they're about to consume. When I visit new coffee shops, especially those that roast their own beans, I really like ordering an espresso and a brewed coffee to get a sense of the flavor profiles they're after. I found Backporch coffees to have complexities that coffee snobs would enjoy, with flavor profiles that could be recognized as unique and appreciated by everyone!
