Iced Matcha Latte
Amber A.

Great coffee and a great energy here from the moment you walk in. Long time visitor first time reviewer but I can say that I've had a variety of coffees from Lone Pine and they are all delish from the drip to the matcha. The coffee shop itself is well designed and is a great place for meeting with friends or getting work done. There is a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. One note: They don't have oat milk but the almond cashew milk is

Vanilla Latte

Vanilla latte and avocado toast are the best! 2nd time in and they remembered my name and my coffee.

This iteration of Lone Pine is sublime. The light is beautiful in the room. It's stylishly set up . And there is an interesting ....galvanizing feeling in there. It must be the doctors that rotate through. The great art of Medicine has survived the megalomania of many MDs .

Cute interior

This place is super cute and hip. Inside is adorable and the staff are always super friendly. Great quality coffee and my girlfriend loves the waffle. A bit of sweetness on it. The avocado smash was really good too. Zesty. This is always a good choice to start your day and sit and relax.

Cute vibes

Start with the good: very vibey, music typically isn't too loud, great seating options, good pastries! Now to the things that dock stars: the WiFi is pretty painfully bad. It's really hard to work at lone pine because of how horrible the WiFi connection is. Takes twice as long to do anything online. I've been here multiple times and it is a repeat offense. The employees are not particularly kind nor passionate about the art of coffee. I love going to a shop with a true coffee culture where baristas can really explain the best things to offer and what they are, etc. It really adds to the experience when baristas are passionate about the coffee but it's not a huge deal I guess. There is one guy who is very friendly, so I'll give it that :) The coffee is good. I haven't tried much but so far I haven't had something that blows me away. It's good though, no qualms. Good job lone pine, but the WiFi is so painful. Will HAPPILY and QUICKLY update the review once the connection is good enough to do so without it being painful, lol.

Menu

Great atmosphere and good golden almond milk. Busy but service was quite fast despite this.

The coffee isn't that good. They're are better choices on Bend. The outdoor space at the new location is nice.

It's very conveniently located within walking distance to the rest of downtown Bend. It can get pretty packed, and seating isn't always guaranteed, but if you have time to hang around, the atmosphere is well worth experiencing. There's a bar-style seating area where locals seemed genuinely settled in, giving the shop a true neighborhood feel. I ordered a large Belgian Mocha, which was rich in flavor while not being overly sweet. The espresso was definitely still there, so the drink was beyond just a dessert vibe. Service was friendly and efficient, with my drink ready in just a few minutes despite the crowd. Overall, this is a lively downtown coffee spot best suited for those who want quality drinks and don't mind a local crowd.

Additionally, our barista gave us a coupon for a free 12oz drink because it took more than five minutes for us to get the breakfast sandwich, it didn't seem like a long time to me but that is just good service. The music was tasteful and not too loud which helped cultivate the calm and pleasant ambiance. The pastries were delightful, so good in fact that I was unable to get a photo due to my inability to delay taking a bite as soon as we sat down. We had the ham and gruyère croissant and the plain croissant. The breakfast sandwich was great; the homemade English muffins were dense but not heavy, the bacon was perfectly thick and crispy, the egg was well done, and the pesto mayo tied it all together. The Latte was solid, I regret not trying the syrups which I found out were homemade after I had ordered, it seemed as though everyone who ordered after me got the cardamom syrup in their drinks. My girlfriend got the hemp milk latte, unsweetened. She is a matcha snob and was pleased with her order, which is a rarity for coffee forward places such as Thump. Stop at Thump if you're in Bend.

We came here for a weekend lunch, ordered baguette sandwiches, coffees, and a hazelnut cookie. All were delicious and they had lots to choose from! I looked around for something similar, but less the cardamon and came across Cafe des Chutes. We visited at 9 am on a Sunday and it wasn't too crowded at all, with only a single person ahead. They have plenty of seating and I think most people decide to eat their treats in the cafe; we had to hit the trail though, so we got ours to go to eat while hiking. Mango Sticky Rice Honey Glazed Croissant ($6.25) - Woah, this is an exceptionally sticky pastry, so sticky it's actually a little cumbersome to eat since the glaze spreads on any surface it touches and becomes very difficult to remove. The glaze tastes just like fresh honey - in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it were mostly honey. There's not much mango flavor until closer to the center, along with another flavor of something very fragrant almost flowery They sprinkle coconut flakes on top, giving a somewhat fruity flavor. The croissant itself is very good - great crust, nicely flaky and crisp with a great texture on the interior, chewy and airy. The lamination seems to be good based on a cursory inspection, but I didn't have a sharp bread knife on me for a clean cut as I usually do. The pastry is very sweet and the glaze covers up the flavor of the croissant entirely. (5/5) Oregon Roll ($6.25) - This base, on the other hand, is really buttery, combining the great lamination, crispy and flaky, with great flavor. There's a fantastic honeycomb texture on the inside combined with the perfect chewiness. They do add a marionberry swirl on the interior, which is pretty obviously included in terms of color, but can't really be tasted on top of the croissant butteriness. On top, they spread a spiced hazelnut glaze, sweet and nutty, almost like peanut butter in texture mixed with butter. Delicious pastry overall. (5/5) Savory Bread Pudding ($10) - This is a super dense and heavy (in weight) bread pudding baked in a muffin mold. They offer to heat it up and it's a really good idea to eat this warmed. We opted to get it cold since we weren't going to eat it for a couple of hours (for a picnic lunch) and it basically wasn't edible, with super dense, bitter and stale tasting bread, making it hard to even stick a fork into the top. We ended up waiting until we got to the hotel room to heat it up the next morning for breakfast, which made it much more palatable. There's some mushroom essence with tons of black pepper and a dense yet pleasingly chewy bread. Cheese is baked on top and there's a little vegetal bitterness from spinach. Not rating this since we ate it the next day. Overall I enjoyed my treats from Cafe des Chutes. I would visit again the next time I'm in Bend. Bathrooms - Tiny room near the front. The water heater takes up some of the space inside, so it's quite warm in the room

Watershed is my go to, close to home, love it, cozy place…read more I feel warmed and welcomed here. I'm excited to be here, every time I come. They pump out drinks like it's easy and second nature, but I know it's a skilled craft. No matter how busy they are, it's always speedy. The indoor seating looks like you would never get an open seat, but the little inside tables up close to the pickup window are never occupied long, and there always seems to be a bigger table of 4 open. The backyard is where it's at! Although don't get me wrong on the inside too, it'll grab you with old cozy mill house adhock, general craftsman vibes and leave you wanting to stay awhile, sit a spell and come again and again just to enjoy the vibe. It's super cramped inside at the order line, but people are courteous and make a way for you to get through. The center post kinda makes a dividing line that causes there to be an in, and an out line. So it's like it's much bigger really, and much more organized than it may at first seem. The bathroom can be a bit of a wait, in the mix of things, but the drinks and ambiance by the river are well worth it. The bathroom is clean, well maintained and cozy as well. It's well decorated. With curtains on the inner window, and bathroom spray. And multiple mirrors to chose from. I mention the bathroom because this is often a very neglected place in both cleanliness and decorum by many businesses, but not here. Step outside with your drink, or while you wait. And you'll be greeted with the best ambiance and river views you can find. Views of mirror pond, the old historic white steeple in the distance, the pretty houses and the calm of the pond. A view you probably noticed through the old pained windows when you came in, and moved through the light crowd to get to your seat, or the order window to the left. Plenty of room to find a seat at one of the many tables and chairs, and just generally have your own space. There are some picnic tables to choose from too. The drinks are superb, I always hear rave reviews from those I bring, or go with, as to their smoothies. Their coffee was always a fine escape of flavors and aromas in years past when I still drank coffee. Daily rotating roasts and globally sourced beans to choose from. I personally get the matcha here, and it just satisfies beyond measure. Filling the palate with a rich, creamy foam of the milk, without the "foam" present when you get down into the drink. It's like the top foam just never goes away. It's a palate pleaser, for sure!! I am amazed that they do an iced or hot oat milk matcha just as well as one, or the other. Each satisfies with that sweet oaty richness to soothe and fill the palate and the senses. In my book of matchas, this is the best matcha in Central Oregon!! Ps. it comes pre-sweetened, I used to get it as a shy scoop with cinnamon powder so it wasn't as sweet. But I grew into the sweetness and just get it standard now with cinnamon. I love that it's rich and not overpowering. It doesn't leave your mouth dry from the sweetness. The drinks aren't too hot when they come out of the window, so they won't burn you. They're baby bear just right. Come to this little haunt, and enjoy a stay and a drink. You won't regret it.

The space inside is well designed, there is plenty of seating and this would be a great place to get some work done. The service here was solid. I hate to say this though, but the honey lavender latte (with an oat milk substitute) wasn't doing it for me. The coffee tasted really watered down. It lacked depth and didn't taste like coffee that would come from a brick-and-mortar store. This review is purely based off the one cup I ordered. The vibe here is modern and minimal -- clean lines, local art on the walls, airy space that feels both calm and alive. I ordered a 16 oz matcha latte and a honey-lavender latte (because why pick just one?). Total came out to about $12.25 each for the largest size. Yep, a little pricier than your corner coffee spot, but honestly worth it. Both drinks were smooth and balanced -- the matcha was creamy, not bitter at all, while the lavender latte had that perfect floral hint without overpowering the coffee. Bonus: the latte art heart on top was simple but done with care, which tells you a lot about the barista. And speaking of service -- the barista was the highlight. Friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to suggest a roast I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. That level of confidence and genuine warmth elevates the entire experience. Now, a small caveat: there's no restroom inside. They'll give you a code for the one just behind the wall -- super clean and convenient once you know, but still something to keep in mind if you're planning to hang out. Overall? 5 stars, easy. Pricey, sure, but you're paying for quality, atmosphere, and people who care. If I could give 6 stars for service, I would. I'll be back for sure.
