First time trying it: it was fine. As a vegan there were plenty of options. The tofu was room temperature; cold roasted broccoli. A bit odd. Spicy cashew sauce was great (I might have to go back and try something else just for that). The hot sauce was good too. I got the limited time apple pomegranate drink and it was pretty good. Service was good and friendly. For me personally it's a 3/5 but since I don't love "bowls" anyway I'm being generous and guessing that's part of why I didn't like it. read more

I've always heard good things about sweetgreen. I'm happy they came to Richmond and Carytown is the perfect place for this health-conscious fast casual restaurant. It's out of our price range but they sent a few coupons so we could give it a try. They have a high protein section on the menu and they provide calorie counts. They also have a board in store that tells you where each ingredient comes from. We were surprised by how small the meals were for the price. I've been coming to sweet green since the early 2000s when I lived in DC. I can't believe Richmond took so long to jump on the bandwagon but I'm so glad we did. I love that these folks really pay attention to quality & detail. You'll find meat cooked in avocado oil, locally sourced greens, and air fried crunchy things rather than deep fried & ruining the fact that you just had a load of vitamins and minerals on your plate. First time at a Sweetgreen but have heard great things. Pros: very clean, friendly staff, all the food is super fresh, parking lot nearby, lots of different options for every dietary need. Cons: it can get pretty expensive for the amount of food you get but love that everything is fresh and they have a list of the farms everything came from. Also, they were out of a couple items at 3pm on a Sunday - we were bummed about no fries. The staff were very friendly and energetic, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, they were out of steak when I visited, so I ordered the Harvest Bowl and a side of fries with pickle ketchup and garlic aioli. The bowl was underwhelming -- the roasted chicken lacked flavor, and overall, it didn't live up to the hype. I also tried the blackened chicken from my friend's Crispy Rice Bowl, which was only slightly better. The fries were cold, and the pickle ketchup just didn't work for me. The garlic aioli was the only part of the meal I genuinely enjoyed. This place feels overhyped, and with so many great fast-casual spots around, I'd choose Roots or Cava over this any day. Being from out of state Im glad they brought a sweetgreen to RVA, their food is definitely good just like how I remember it. Can be a little pricey for a bowl (especially when the bowl is a little skimpy). Doesn't happen all the time but the first time I went the portion was pretty small but I gave a pass since it was opening day. I had their caramelized garlic steak bowl and I could've done without the wild rice honestly might switch next time but it's the only thing that made the bowl a little weak to me. I loved this bowl I went back the same day! I got the chicken pesto bowl with no quinoa or breadcrumbs (trying to watch my carbs) and it was very filling and absolutely great! They have a lot of different bowls that I am interested in trying. The store is in a perfect spot and the employees are incredibly nice/helpful. The bowl I had was nice and fresh! I've tried sweet green a long time ago when I was visiting a friend in New York and it wasn't bad. I tried the one here in Cary town and I got a bbq chicken salad and I was not a fan. The amount of chicken in the salad was very small but my main gripe about my bowl was the fact that it has pickled onions (which I love) but they scoop the pickled onions into your bowl with a measuring cup so you get a quarter cup of straight pickling liquid in the bottom of the bowl that ends up getting mixed around with ranch and bbq sauce and honestly the bowl was inedible by the time I got to the bottom half. I will be back to try their rice bowls at some point but that probably won't be for a while. read more

I live in Portland but visit Richmond often and discovered this place last summer and went back again yesterday. They are delicious! Love their ingredients and their customer service is wonderful. App is easy to use too and will calculate calories for you but I wish I could also see the remaining nutritional profile. Highly recommend! read more

Good food for the most part. Fries were cold and chewy. Bathrooms were wrecked. No TP in one. Toilet broken in the other. Also had human hair + salad dressing on the table I almost sat at. Wasn't that busy either. I used to go to the one in Culver City all the time. Hopefully Carytown steps it up. Staff was super nice though. Will definitely give it a another shot. read more

No offense, I definitely wanted to give them a try to see what the hype is but really wasn't my forte. I was super excited about the new Sweetgreen location opening in Carytown, and have always been a big fan of their yummy salads and bowls. I went opening week and got a build your own bowl with the fries and garlic aioli. I had super high expectations and was unfortunately let down. The fries were super cold and tasted like they were made ages ago. My bowl was super skimpy and barely filled the container. I also got sweet potatoes on top and they genuinely gave me only 4 pieces on top which was disappointing. The spicy cashew sauce was the only thing that saved my salad. I want to go back and try again, but as a college student it doesn't feel worth the money after my experience. As a new healthy food option in RVA, I was really expecting more.
