    Beyond Gateway Burger

The staff were super helpful since it was my first visit. They helped me choose the Beyond Gateway Burger, Fried Balsamic Brussels Sprouts, and Mac 'n' Cheese. The food was all excellent, but was more than I could eat. This is a must visit if you're looking for high quality vegan food in a friendly, casual environment.

~all vegan~ 1. Friend chickn sandwich (gardein fillet ~ hand breaded in-house) with baja ranch 2. Dank nuggs (also hand breaded) with buffalo sauce, baja ranch, Diablo sauce, seasoned fries 3. Meat loaf sandwich (Beyond) with onion gravy 4. Po-girl wrap (fried hearts of palm) That's in ranked order So good!! Near Short Pump, so outside the city with a parking lot. Cute, bright, colorful interior with a few tables and a few tables outside. Super quick service; fresh food.

Absolutely love Devil's Lettuce! I went twice on my vacation to Richmond last week. Once for Sunday brunch (special shout-out to the Ch'kn and waffles- I ate every single bite). My non-vegan boyfriend loved the brunchwrap and even had leftovers to take home- which he never does! We went back again for lunch on Wednesday (they're currently closed Mon/Tues or I would have gone every day). I got the fried ch'kn sandwich- OH MY GOODNESS! It was so delicious. I also got the side of Mac and cheese! My non-vegan brother had a bite of the brunchwrap leftovers and was convinced he needed to try this place. My non-vegan boyfriend had the cheese fries and my non-vegan brother had the bowl. Both visits we saw the owner and the same cashier- and they were so sweet!! Can't wait to return next time I'm in Richmond!

There has been a Hang Space hole in my heart for vegan junk food ever since they closed. Devil's Lettuce absolutely scratched that itch. I got the dank nuggets with fries platter and it was delish. The fries are seasoned with this slightly spicy seasoning blend which gives a little kick but not too much salt. I opted to get the pineapple teriyaki sauce for my nuggets and it was a great compliment. The nuggets themselves are fried perfectly and are actually Gardein chick'n If you're looking for good vegan junk food check them out. Oh just a heads up it's a small spot that is actually connected to a bar. There are three tables and a bar that you can sit at with some outside seating in the front. You can order at the counter or there is a set up right as you enter to the left. I personally think it's also accessible for most with no steps going in and some room to navigate with a cane although it may be tight for a wheelchair. They do have those metal cafe chairs that are all the rage so do with that info what you will

One of my vegan friends was in town and I wanted to find another vegan spot to take her since the last one we went to was a bust. Devil's Lettuce did not let down! Beyond just the cheeky name they have a very fun vibe inside the restaurant. It is a bit confusing at first because we didn't realize it is an offshoot of Hurley's Tavern and shares the same space. Devil's Lettuce has a fun and diverse fully vegan meal. I ordered a Gardein "fried chicken" sandwich with pineapple slaw, cajun remoulade, and pickles with a side of mac and cheese. My friends ordered: fishless fish n chips, brussels sprouts, and loaded fries. First off, my sandwich was soooo good! And I don't mean it was "good for vegan food," it was just outright good and I have been wanting to get it again. The mac was pretty good, I'd say it's the best vegan mac and cheese I've had but it was still a bit watery and could've used a little more flavor. The fishless fish n chips were made with heart of palm and were awesome. I loved how the fries were seasoned well too. The brussel sprouts were quite good but nothing crazy. It was cool because we had a chance to speak to one of the partners who has masterminded many of the recipes. She told us a bit about how the restaurant came to be and her passion for vegan cooking. It was really awesome to hear and see how this was such a passion project for her and you could really see it in the food and the way she described creating some of the recipes. As a non vegan I can definitely say I'd like to come back here.

I loved the Devil's Lettuce experience! The food is top tier, so amazing that it's entirely vegan- I LOVED the bowl I got!! I'm super excited to try their new location, because the old one was a little small in the interior for dining in. The cost was really fair, and the staff were super quick to answer questions.

I'd been looking for an opportunity to try this place since it opened, and today was the day. This is Vegan week, and it was the perfect day to try. The setup was easy, you choose your bun, the meat, toppings, and add ons. I picked the chicken sandwich(Gardein) with a gluten-free bun, pickles and cheese along with a side of fries. Everything tasted good, the sauce on the side had a lil kick to it that made the sandwich pop. I will go back another time to see what else they have.

Sloppy thots but with fries as substitute!

We always leave with leftovers because we want to indulge ourselves again the next day; it never disappoints. I have heard people say they don't like Indian food, which I don't understand. Guests can choose their preferred protein, sauce, and spice level, as well as enjoy a selection of beer, wine, and Indian Sula wines. We visited during lunchtime and partook of their lunch specials, featuring generous portions and a decent variety. I enjoyed Goat Vindaloo while wife was milder with Seafood Korma. I asked for spicy and received their level 5 (1-5). It was good, flavors and seasoning were excellent, but for truly spicy you need to ask for "True Indian Level" they are used to a bunch of Americans with tender palates! The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations, and although the place was busy, we never felt rushed. The restaurant's clean and inviting environment adds to the positive experience. We saw a few dishes that others had ordered from the regular menu, and they looked ample and generous. So, although it seems a little pricey, it is not a bad value.

If they aren't part of the decor, it was a treat nonetheless. We stepped inside from the rain with a parking spot very near the door. I snapped a pic on the way in to capture it's essence. We risked another walk-in with no reservations, and we snagged two prime end seats on the communal table. There were two open seats at the bar as well; might come in handy some other rainy Thursday night. The server, Murphy M., judging by the receipt, who helped my partner and I with our order, was a gracious host and incredibly well-practiced. It was a master class in serving, made effortless by him. He could not have been more accommodating, as we saw him appear inevitably at the exact right moments. Our server offered us bread and oil before the appetizer. The bread here is made fresh daily. It was so soft, I could not tell the difference from store bought. The food was exquisitely well prepared, the chefs and kitchen staff are immensely skilled. The appetizer was presented to us within a relatively short amount of time. We had time for a short discussion before the it arrived. The Tiropita was described as "four pieces of heaven." Accurate. The phyllo was thin and crisp, and the feta was creamy and delicious. I was careful not to bite too hard and ruin my pants. I had the Kotopoulo, which is a feta-brined oven-baked chicken with lemon and herbs served with lemon potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection. The cooked potatoes were exactly as I like them, soft yet held their shape. It was an excellent meal, if a bit unwieldy (it's like half a rotisserie chicken, basically). My partner had the Hilopites, an egg noodle dish with giant beans, pine nuts, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and feta, in a creamy, savory sauce that I couldn't begin to describe with mere words. The meals were both stunning, made unclear by my disastrous photography. All that being said, I did not really enjoy my meal as I was expecting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's today, or maybe the flavors simply weren't what I am accustomed to with the dozens of Greek restaurants from my past. I'm uncertain, and that's okay sometimes. Either way, it was a fantastic experience, and I will dine here again.

When we first walked in, the place was pretty crowded, but we were able to grab a couple spots at the bar and figured we'd settle in for a good night. That's where things went sideways. The bartender appeared to be the only one working, and while I understand being busy, the attitude and behavior were honestly shocking. Every interaction felt aggressive. Remotes getting slammed around. Napkins and pens tossed onto the counter. Water being splashed onto the floor like a toddler throwing a tantrum. The entire atmosphere at the bar felt tense and uncomfortable. It got to the point where we almost felt awkward ordering anything because every request seemed like it was ruining their night. At one point another couple sat down next to us and almost immediately started looking around like, "is this really happening right now?" I actually ended up warning them that no, they weren't imagining it, and that it had been our experience the entire time too. That alone should tell you how uncomfortable the atmosphere was. Which is unfortunate because the kitchen actually did their part. The food was good. Really good. But good food only carries a place so far when the service makes you want to leave before the meal even arrives. I've worked in and around hospitality long enough to understand busy nights happen. But there's a huge difference between being overwhelmed and taking it out on customers. Tazza Kitchen has the food figured out. Now they just need the front of house experience to match it.

If it had been amazing, that might have been worth waiting for, but it was forgettable. The menu is blah and standard. Nothing exciting. The flavors, meh. I got the arugula and proscuitto pizza last time. Someone at our table got that this time. It looked really dry. I ordered salmon because I thought you can't mess it up. It was just okay. I've made it my personal rule to stop here before I grocery shop, because walking into Lotte on an empty stomach is a financial decision I can no longer afford to make. I got the salmon, tuna, and sukiyaki, and every single one was exactly what a good onigiri should be: generously filled, perfectly textured rice that holds together just right without feeling like a compressed brick, and flavors that are clean and satisfying without trying too hard. It sounds simple because it is simple. That's the whole point, and that's exactly why it's so hard to do well. The owners are warm and genuinely friendly in a way that feels real, not rehearsed.
