Food is so delicious and comes out fast and hot! Service is exceptional; staff is customer oriented, professional, and friendly. Love the decor...even the outdoor seating area has a feeling of comfort. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (dogs allowed outside with water bowls provided). Great draft beer selection. Has a market place adjacent to the restaurant and bar. Love the ability to flex and make a sandwich based on current events (see photo). Highly recommend this place!

Came here for lunch with my wife a couple weeks ago and finally got to try this place. She got a salad and I got a sandwich. The salad was really big and the sandwich wasn't bad. My wife liked this place way more than I did. Food was good but I didn't think it was anything too special. The salad tasted great, for a salad. The sandwich wasn't bad but it wasn't anything too special, something that could be thrown together at home. I'll probably get dragged back here by my wife and I won't complain about it, but it wouldn't be somewhere I'd send someone to if they were visiting the city or anything. Good place for a light lunch though.

One of THE best sandwiches I have ever had in my life! I cannot wait to come back. Union market is smack dab in the middle of a peaceful neighborhood. The vibes were homey, friendly, and warm. So many options for food & drink. And the beautiful cashier couldn't have been sweeter, you could tell she loved her job!

Cozy Cafe and Bar with Consistently Reliable Deli Food! I simply love dining at this cafe whenever I visit Richmond. The restaurant also has a small grocery store with neighborhood bodega vibes, and I enjoy walking around the store while waiting for my food. Guests can order outside at the walk-up counter, over the phone, or in person. The staff is friendly and works efficiently. I ordered their BLT, which comes with Applewood-smoked bacon, tomato, green leaf lettuce, and my favorite roasted garlic Duke's mayo. I always ask for extra mayo and get it on their gluten-free bread option. I also ordered extra bacon because I love it, and they provide a generous amount. In an effort to be slightly healthy, I usually opt for the salad instead of the chips, which comes with a nice vinaigrette.

I love Union Market! Their food is so flavorful and tastes fresh. The outside seating area is so lovely, but it can get quite cramped indoors. The servers I've had here have been friendly. My favorite menu items are the UMGC and the white bean arugula salad. I also got the pastrami sandwich (smoked gouda, kimchi, Russian dressing) with turkey which was very tasty. The smoked salmon salad was good, too, but the potatoes and beets were a little under done.

Ordered the pick two with half the Reuben (no cheese) and smoked salmon salad. Both blew me away! The smoked salmon was absolutely delicious and I love how the corned beef was chopped finely. We sat outside on the spacious patio and ordered at the window. The wait time was short and staff friendly! 10/10 would eat here again

Local mini grocery store and sandwich shop. Amazing fried egg sandwich on jalapeno cheese bagel.

Located in Church Hill, Union Market has a charming little restaurant and small grocery store. My parents and I enjoyed a quick dinner together. We ordered tuna melts and a salmon salad. I loved the tuna melts because it had a great balance between the cheese and tuna, which paired nicely. The salmon salad on the other hand tasted fresh and crunchy - still delicious. The food portions are plentiful, you can pick a side chips or a side salad. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and helpful with suggestions. It's one of our favorite spots in town :) Any sandwich on their menu is definitely worth trying!

Love. This. Place. The food and drinks are always great, and the bartender always stops by to chat, which is so nice. The outdoor dining area is great during warm weather days. Honorable mention: all of the salad dressings are phenomenal.

Great patio for the pup! Only downside was the flies, but they had tabletop fans to discourage them.

They also came with fries or onion rings, funnel cake fries, and a drink of your choice. Two of the guys had the root beer and said it was pretty good. Now as for the dogs, the two guys that had the coneys were happy with them, although one was hoping for a little more spice from the chili, but it was by no means bad. The burnt ends dog was said to be pretty freaking good. As for the American dog, we'll that was a different story. It wasn't a bad dog, but it tasted like it had been boil cooked and not cooked on the griddle. Additionally, it wasn't really that warm. I guess warm is a good description for it. It would have been better if it was hot and you could see some cooking marks on it. Alas, it was and had neither. But again, it wasn't a bad dog, but it could have been much better. The onion rings were pretty tasty though, as were the funnel cake fries and crinkle cut fries. This night was Wednesday, so it was trivia night. At 6:30. At about 6:00 people really started to come in, and by 6:30, the place was packed. Guess trivia night is a big hit... The people working there were super friendly and you fealt as if they were happy to be there. I would have given it 5 stars, but tbe warm dog just brought my experience down a bit. But don't let that stop you from going there, because you'll probably have a good time with good food and good people.

The bar was getting full, but there were still a few tables left to choose from. This is a dive, similar to Poe's Pub, so if that's not your scene, don't come here. That said, we really like the character of this place, even if it smells a little funky upstairs. It adds to the character and charm, or at least, that's what we tell ourselves. The same bartender as usual (still don't know his name) helped us. They do have a sour beer. It's not as fruity as I like, though, still passable. (Seriously, Patrick Henry's, y'all need to order some from Texas and Oklahoma sours for the real deal; Martin House Brewing Co. in Ft Worth does them so right). Anyway, we ordered the goat cheese bread appetizer (warm apple butter, goat cheese, and sunflower seeds = immense pleasure). For entrees, I grabbed the Hot Chicken Pizza (hot sauce and pickles!), and my partner went for the chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. There was so much food that we had leftovers, as usual. They heated up well in the air fryer and were nearly as good. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE. I will admit, it does look slightly seedy, but the food here is magnificent. The pizza was thin, crispy, and full of delicious flavor. I swear, the chefs here know what they are doing with their menu. It's simple, yet elegant. The appetizers are simple, yet they easily compete with The Brooklyn and Pinky's apps, for example, which are more affordable and in a more relaxed environment. Do yourself a favor and get the goat cheese. It sings. The customers here are chill and interesting, and the bartender is calm and cool; he never seems out of sorts, even when the bar is full with a line out the door. I wholeheartedly recommend Patrick Henry's. We have been here twice now, and the service and food have been excellent both times (Sept 2025, May 2026).
