Met Casey at the Philly Vegan food truck when they were collaborating with Bruesters in Midlothian. Absolutely delightful young man, big credit to the team. We have always loved the company, and the elite-tier guest engagement only enhanced the already sinfully good food to the next level. Come back to Southside! read more

If you didn't tell me it was vegan I woudln't have known! I went to the food truck on THRUSDAYS on the corner of GLENSIDE AND BROAD from 11am-6pm what a experience everyone is friendly. I am going to try the resturant and take pics :) read more

I had an issue with online ordering today but they were so kind and happy to take my order over the phone. I got the special this week: Hot Mama spicy chickn sandwich and it was incredible. I will definitely be back to try a buffalo chicken cheesesteak soon! Oh and a milkshake. All vegan baby! It's mostly just a counter inside to order. And maybe one table, but I would plan for takeout for sure! read more

I was starving, found myself in Richmond, Virginia, and baby - Philly Vegan on Hull St to the rescue! So I got the Philly Cheesesteak (beyond the steak) with everything. I love the video menu narrated by Momma C - so I got the strawberry shake (oat based). The young man asked me if I wanted fries, but trying not to have a big back. The place was very cute. I love the pictures on the wall. I wanted to sit down, but it's not a sitdown spot. I always start my experience with five stars and deduct as I go along. I deducted a star because my food was salty, but with the service and ambience and that shake (which was on the money), another star grew. Plus when I tried to pick up my Cheesesteak with my hands, it was just too big! I had to use a knife and fork, but taking a bite out of the whole sandwich was awesome. If you're in Richmond, VA check it out. Enjoy the pics (I'm not a photographer.) read more

Food was pretty good other than everything we got tasted the same. I don't know why but everything had heavy oregano flavor. Like someone tripped with the lid off the oregano bottle. Hubby's wasn't like that, but mine was definitely overpowered by that. The sampler was good but again, everything tasted the same. The eggroll was crispy and cheesy. Definitely my favorite thing that day. The cheesesteak was good, the cheeseburger was a smidge dry, but had good flavor. Definitely needed mayo and ketchup to dunk it in. It didn't blow me away. No desserts that day other than the milkshakes. Parking is street parking. Best of luck to you. read more

Fine food prepared with love in a family-run nook of a "takeaway only" restaurant. The lady who took our order and made my strawberry shake was welcoming and nice. Pricing is the main issue. Yes, restaurants are coping with higher costs in general but Philly Vegan is more expensive for less exciting food than comparable vegan restaurants in the RVA area. The food is tasty enough (our party of 3 got different items and taste-tested from one another) but the portions don't justify the price, imo. Apple pie spring roll was my favorite thing I tried. Not to discourage anyone from giving Philly Vegan a try (goodness knows we'll take all the vegan fast food options we can get), but do be sure and try the other spots, as well. Yes: VEGAN read more

Last day of V72 week, and I finally got the chance to try PV. I heard they were good, but wasn't prepared for the tasty chicken Philly sliders. They were in hot dog buns for bread that on site I was worried would be soggy, thankfully they weren't. What they were is delicious. They were full of "chicken" and just enough cheese to make it creamy and Philly good. I a,so got a side of fries, they were heavily seasoned, but not too much, it was the way I like them, topped it all off with a banana pudding shake. When I tell you not only was everything delicious... that shake was like having dessert. Perfect ending to my meal. read more

Being I'm on a healthy journey and maintaining. Because health is wealth, so as far as the food goes, it has yet to disappoint I personally love the lentil burger. The drinks are for my a bit overly sweet and need diluting. The supreme Philly is also a personal favorite! My wife loves the tots and onion rings, I'm not a fan of them only because I'm not big on fried food or a lot of starch. Nonetheless if you are looking for a healthy option that will absolutely blow your mind on how good it is and I'm still shocked that it's vegan. read more

Philly Vegan is definitely a little hole-in-the-wall spot. This was my first (and only) time going, and the people there were really helpful with me. Honestly, the food was hit or miss for me. The subs weren't my favorite and some of the flavors tasted a little weird, but that's kind of expected with vegan substitutes. On the other hand, the egg rolls, regular fries and milkshakes were good. It was the "meat" and gravy sauce that was weird to me. Overall, not somewhere I'd go back to, but worth checking out for the experience. read more

Let me get right to the point.... Get the SAMPLER!!!! Trust me, you want to ONLY get the sampler! It is a combo meal of cheesesteak fries, a mini Philly cheesesteak and one of their world famous Philly egg rolls. There is so much food on that thing, it really is enough for two people, but if you are greedy, like me, you will eat it all! The deliciousness of this food is nothing short of angelic! Now the reason I say get just the SAMPLER it sets you up for future visits. I now know I want the whole cheesesteak next time. My daughter took one bite of the egg roll And it became her favorite! This will be the first restaurant I find each and every time I come To Richmond. I sure hope you consider franchising to Va Beach. read more

I feel like I got the most basic meal out there and it just wasn't as amazing as I had expected. Got the Double Z Burger and a side of fries. The fries were quite bland. Looked like it had some sort of Cajun looking seasoning but you couldn't taste it. Not salt or anything. The burger was alright. Nothing too fancy. I think next time I'll try something other than a veggie burger. read more

We ordered over the phone, the hostess was very nice and explained things very well as it was our first time ordering. The Philly supreme was very good and flavorful, we tried the special sauce that comes with and that was good also. We also ordered the tots and veggie egg roll, everything was very good! When we went inside to pickup the food, the customer service from another staff member was also excellent. The apple pie was good, I wish the egg roll itself was a little sweeter but in the sauce it marries it all together, If you're vegan and even if you're not, it's worth a try. read more

I was in Richmond visiting Whole Foods. After finishing my shopping, I was hungry-but I wanted to eat something vegan (since I've been eating more plant based the last month or so). Upon research, came across this high-rated vegan spot here on Yelp so I was very excited. I really wanted to enjoy this and came in with the intention of supporting. Unfortunately, the vegan sub didn't sit well with us--it was very greasy, unseasoned, and much heavier than expected, to the point that it made me feel worse than if I'd eaten meat. I'm not sure if MSG was used, but both I and the friends I came with felt extremely tired afterward and could barely keep our eyes open. To be fair, one of my friends ordered the smash burger and rated it an 8/10, so there are definitely some strong items on the menu. We truly wanted to support a Black-owned business and were hoping for a better overall experience. I wasn't going to leave a review but the way this food made me sleep for hours needs to be studied. I still groggy writing this! read more

Sure it was a two hour drive and I wasn't even visiting Richmond but stopped in anyway. Now you understand what a plant based consumer will do to find a tasty meal. Dare I say, these Philly's were #worththedrive. I was sad there wasn't a table to sit at, I can't knock the food for that, which just meant we were eating this in the car. I'm sure someone will revoke my vegan card for this, but I don't love mushrooms like I'm *supposed to, but I usually give it the ol' college try. Of course I ordered the mushrooms on my sandwich, and was slightly off put by how big they were. Many vegans will fight me, but I just can't get over a big chunk of mushroom, I probably picked about half of them off my sandwich. I understand that's a 'my preference' issue, so I won't dare knock them for that. I'd definitely come back again if in the vicinity! (sans mushrooms) read more

Food was good. The Philly burger was excellent. I ordered the burger and Philly cheese egg rolls. All food is cooked to order and comes out in a timely fashion. Kind and courteous staff that are eager to assist with your order. Ambience is irrelevant as this is a takeaway only establishment. My only gripe is the cost. I paid 24.41 for two items. read more

Amazing food! Picked up three dishes on a busy Wednesday (the only downside is Philly Vegan closes at 7pm so it takes some planning for a dinner visit for order pickup). Service was very nice as well from my partner who picked up the food. Shared the Philly Cheesesteak Loaded Nachos, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, and Spicy Chhay Burger with a side of Oh Rings. The nachos were soooo good! They were properly LOADED unlike other joints that skimp on toppings, and the flavor was delicious. My partner said it tasted just like chili-cheese nachos in elementary school - you could not tell it was all vegan. Egg rolls were super good too, just wish there was more cheese inside. Onions rings were some of the BEST I've ever had - crispy, with great flavor, and the best part is the onion didn't fall out when you bit into the ring! Soo good. Chhay burger was delicious and the sauce was genuinely spicy (unlike other places the spicy sauce is just bland) and the burger was hearty and filling with tasty toppings. Overall would totally come here again! Definitely vegan junk food so pretty unhealthy but DELISH. read more

Philly Vegan is a must try. If you're in the downtown Richmond area be sure to stop through. Its directly across the bridge from downtown. And you won't regret it. There is parking along the street, there is a lot adjacent to the restaurant but I'm not positive if you can park there. The service at Philly Vegan was top tier. The lady at the counter -I believe to be one of the owners- asked if it was my first-time in. She proceeded to give me an overview of the menu pointing out their most popular items. She also notified me of the deals they had on the milkshakes and lemonade. I opted for the lemonade it was soooo good. The food is made fresh and came out hot. I believe I may have waited about 5-10 mins. The restaurant itself isn't large, there isn't an option to dine in but I'm here to tell you with this menu you're going to want to enjoy your meal at home. I ordered the sampler which included the classic philly cheesesteak, the cheesesteak fries and cheesesteak eggrolls. I couldn't believe the portion size. My entire to-go container was packed with all this delicious food. The food lacked no flavor at all. read more

The cheesesteak quesadilla is sooo good it's a must have. My non vegan fiance loved it as well!

First, let me just say DAYUM. I'm on a soy- and dairy-free diet due to breastfeeding a little one with sensitivities, and finding an allergy-conscious restaurant can be tricky. This place was top-notch in terms of food and costumer service. The menu very clearly states which items contain and do not contain certain allergens, and the reviews were very promising, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! The onion rings were sooooo good, and I was really happy with the lentil patty lettuce wrap. The staff inside were friendly and very helpful. Will def be coming back! read more

Customer service was great. We were given suggestions and options to add. The food was hot, like I like it. My french fries were golden and a little crispy, I got the cheesesteak and fries. I didn't have the all the vegetables(onions peppers and mushrooms) that it comes with. I opted out and paid the extra $2 for extra meat. They have some pictures on the wall of the owners and staff... however the best pictures are the artwork from others and some of the local business's products (ie:customized shirt) They have the company's name and social media info under their product. This is straight take out. There are no places to sit inside at all. You can call your order in our have it delivered by one of the delivery services everyone uses. If you decide to come by parking, is on the street only. Oh and you don't have to pay for it...well, I didn't. Go check them out!!! Black owned and reppin my hometown too... extra love for that read more

This right here was very unexpected and THE BOMB. We were immediately greeted and the customer service was very genuine and welcoming. My boyfriend grandmother is best friend with owner's granddaughter so we came here to check the food out and I was blown away. They always say it's expensive to go Vegan.. well i'm a quality over quantity gal and let's say i'd go full Vegan after stuffing my mouth with the "Red Double Lentils Burger" . The burger was very crunchy and seasoned along with the fresh toppings and additional sauce. I was flattered at how big and juicy this burger was amongst the taste I was just in awe. The fries were seasoned to perfection and they definitely give you a load of food. I also ordered the Vanilla Oreo Cookie Milkshake which came with the golden oreos and tasted just like a banana pudding cake omg it was delicious. I would definitely come back here. I would go here all the time if I lived in Richmond. What a great menu, great vibe, amazing food!!! The lentil nuggets were soooo tasty and filling. I love lentils and I love nuggets and these were the best I've had. The egg roll sampler was heavenly. The Philly egg roll was so flavorful and savory, and I was worried it might be soggy or textures wouldn't be right but it was amazing. I would get the whole order of those next time. The apple pie eggroll was like the apple pies from McDonald's elevated to 100009999 times better if you know what I mean. It reminded me of it in a nostalgic way and just so tasty. Trying to figure out how to replicate it at home I loved it so much. If you are in Richmond, vegan or not - try this place!!!! read more

Just when I was debating if I could keep being vegan I found this place on the way to DC and it blew me away. This place is a GEM!!!! Probably one of the best vegan restaurants I've had so far. This place is a takeout spot only. Their menu consists of chicken nuggets, philly cheesesteaks, a variety of milkshakes, burgers, and egg rolls. We got the philly cheesesteak sandwich, philly cheesesteak egg rolls, a white and chocolate oreo milkshake, and a philly cheese steak sampler which came with philly cheesesteak fries, a slider, and an egg roll. The food was hot, perfect, and super flavorful. You wouldn't even realize it's vegan. My favorite out of everything was the philly cheesesteak egg rolls. It was crispy, cheesy, and creamy. It tasted great with the sweet & sour sauce and I could've just had those and been satisfied. Everyone LOVED the oreo milkshakes and they weren't too heavy and had a really milky and light taste to it. Some vegan shakes tend to taste like a protein shake but these ones were really good. read more

I'm a Philly native and meat eater so I'm definitely biased. The portions are massive. The fries were seasoned well and my favorite part. The hoagie roll was softer than typical cheesesteaks so I couldn't pick it up without it falling apart. I got the supreme and I would recommend ordering without green peppers and mushrooms. They were really all I could taste, making it hard to resemble a true cheesesteak. I'd be willing to try it another time. read more

I have had Philly cheesesteak on my list to try for sometime now since I live off hull st. I finally went today and honestly it was mid, not terrible but not great. The price was a bit steep, I had the sampler which is an egg roll, slider cheesesteak and loaded fries. The cashier was a bit helpful but I couldn't hear her that well. If wanted a drink (lemonade) it was $6. The food does all taste the same and wasn't filling enough in my opinion. I won't be back anytime soon but I do like that they make vegan food. I occasionally take breaks from meat from time to time so that's why I checked it today but I rather cook at home than go there again. read more

I'm not vegan but wanted to give this place a try. It is takeout only and it is some great artwork displayed throughout the location. I decided I would go small and tried the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. They were delicious, light and crispy and came with a sweet chili sauce. I couldn't even tell that the meat was plant based and even my picky eater enjoyed them as well.... And I quote "they don't even need any sauce" and I totally agree. You could hear the crunch as you bite into them. I would go back for the egg rolls but I definitely want to try the teas (didn't see them on the menu but on a poster displayed in the store) and the apple egg rolls for sure. I like to try new vegan places wherever I go so after reading other reviews on this one I decided to try it. Let me first say parking in this area is horrible! It's on a busy street in the city and parking is scarce. I did manage to find a park. I did not order online. I opted to go inside and order. The place is small and not eat in. Everyone was nice but I could tell they were busy with online orders and other orders I ordered the Philly vegan supreme with no onions. It took about 15 minutes for my food to get ready. The fries y'all!!!! BUSSIN!!! The Philly was really good as well. I could only eat half of it. It's definitely a fork meal even though it was a sub style meal.
