I never ever write reviews. Ever! But I had to find a way to write one. I have seen this food truck at my local gas station for months and always wanted to try it. I finally did tonight and I'm amazed. That was the best Philly cheese steak I have ever had. And I have literally been to Philly and tried the top spots. Nice rebrand! My lamb gyro tasted like it had been marinating for hours.... it was full of flavor and tender. The pita was perfect! My friend's cheesesteak was pretty good - she wished it was as flavorful as my lamb. The fries were great! Hot and just enough salt. The star?? Finding a good Philly is hard especially since I've tried the ones in Philadelphia, but Bad As Philly doesn't disappoint. They do have other things on the menu to try, but I always order their specialty. The food and prices were great. Every time I go, we are treated with kindness and we always dine in. Two different experiences and I went back a day apart. Went for the first time on the 4th! Ordered wings and a 8 inch philly w fries and it was very good! Quality was good they are a bit pricey and service was good too. We decided to go back the following day because we were staying in the city and it was close by. Way different experience. I ordered a fish sandwich ( very salty )w fries + a 8 inch philly. I put a note asking for a sauce on the side because there was no option to do so. I walked in gave my name and asked if they saw the note before I could finish he said " Its on there "...like okay. So i check my food in the car there is no sauce on my sandwich and my fries are missing. I go back in and they have a dismissive attitude when they forget my food...so not sure I would return with the very different experiences only a day apart. This place is so good! I'm from Delaware, where a great cheesesteak is a dime a dozen, so I'm picky. As I've traveled farther south, it's been a real journey trying to find a legit cheesesteak but this place absolutely gets it right. One of the first things I notice at cheesesteak spots is the cheese. Up north, white American is the standard, and it's usually missing or costs extra elsewhere. Not here, no modifications needed and no upcharges. The drinks are good but definitely on the sweet side, so if that's not your ministry you might want to skip them. That said, the food alone makes it worth the stop and their lunch specials are awesome. Definitely worth a try! read more

Newton Richmond from NY and followed Holly Philly on Instagram after my family went to their reopening and spoke very highly. They did a thanksgiving giveaway which I entered and won a free Philly! Came in to claim it with my husband in a Monday and there was plenty of street parking. Lots of seating in the place and was easily able to redeem my free sandwich and order some more stuff. I got the loaded Philly and my husband got the hitch Philly. We also got cheese fries, a Philly eggroll, and two flavored lemonades. The sandwiches were delicious. Hot and flavorful. Fries were also very good and I loved the cheese sauce. I wasn't a big fan of the egg roll but my husband liked it. I loved the mango lemonade. Very mango flavored and delicious! I attended the grand reopening and ordered the 5-piece combo. The staff was friendly and had great energy. The inside is clean, bright, and fun. My order was completed and ready in less than ten minutes. I believe they cook to order. The mambo sauce smelled so good as soon as I opened the bag. The fries were good. They are a type of fries I like. The mambo wings were good. The amount of sauce was generous hope that never changes. They were oversees/sauced/not toss coated and I applesauce that. The mambo sauce is a thicker one and has a slight tang of BBQ and the sweet and sour tase. It's a good profile. I would definitely order them again. read more

Well RVA we now have a lil taste of Philly right here in Virginia. It's a nice addition to Main Street with vibrant colors and a mascot in still trying to figure out but he had moves today dance and high-five'n the crowd! I went today for the grand opening and I already have plans of going back again to try more on the menu! Today they offered free food from 6-9 and the line wrapped around the block with the first 30 people getting a specialty drink! I went with my mom and it was a set menu and we were able to try the chicken Philly combo and chicken combo ( variety of flavors but we got the Teriyaki) Food was hot and delicious please see pictures attached and do yourself a favor and show some love! read more

Got the gyro combo this time with onion rings. I got a baja blast as my drink from the drink fridge that came with the combo. I ordered no cheese for it, but it only came with with meat and the bread i think i was supposed to click on other stuff to add it on . Their onion rings are big and crispy! It's never a good sign when you start writing a review of a place out of boredom waiting for food. This review's stars count will reduce as I continue waiting. We're starting at a 3 star after waiting 20 minutes for a sandwich. I can hear the cooking happening but nothing seems to be coming out of the kitchen. There are more and more people waiting sort of lingering at the front counter in hopes that their food will come faster. I finally got my sandwich after 25 minutes at 2:26pm... Talk about a guilty pleasure. These sandwiches are hot and delicious. Fries are excellent. Some of the best I've ever had. Go with a basic Philly combo and get yourself a grape crush soda or Dr Pepper. Amazing. I'd give five stars but the ambiance isn't great. It can get really loud in there, particularly with their tv. This place is just not good. 1. bathroom is filthy and speaks a lot of how a place is ran. 2. order of 5 wings. only one edible the others were burnt and the quality was poor and just bad wings. 3. fries weee blah. 4. Randomly decided to try this place for lunch. Got a fat Philly. The place is a little cluttered with a wall of boxes in the corner. As I sat and waited for the food, I noticed the table was dirty and the floors were really dirty with pieces of food and crumbs scattered across the floor. I was very surprised when I got my sandwich though because it was really good. It was stacked with a lot of meat and cheese and was a very enjoyable and filling sandwich. So service and food are good I think they just need to clean a little more often and better. read more

Bread has that chewy center that you want but is still crisp on the inside. Steak is seasoned well and has a lot of stretchy provolone cooked in with it. Standard sub comes with caramelized onions and mayo. Fries are also well seasoned but to go made them a bit soggy. I'll be back! read more

Went today with my sons and one of their girlfriends for lunch. We got cheesesteak subs but one had a salad. Subs were much above average with nice chewy breads and plenty of steak mixed with melted cheese. Very filling and tasty. This is a perfect late night meal place or a place to get a lunch that will keep you full until bedtime. Came home and took a long nap after and wasn't hungry for dinner. read more

A friend of mine mentioned this place he saw on another website where it was rated 4.6 out of 5 so, we decided to give it a shot. Funny story not so funny. Directions led us to a place in East Henrico at a gas station. We decided this can't be the place and looked it up again and found the downtown RVA location. When we got there, there was nobody there. The place looked a little dark and dingy. We weren't promptly greeted, but when we were there was little to no welcome or communication as to what came with what and what options there were. I ordered a foot-long cheesesteak fries, drink, and five wings to try. I ordered two cans of soda. She suggested that I buy a bottle instead because it's cheaper I agreed and when I went to pick up my order, there were no bottles. I ended up just getting two cans anyway. The food took about 25 minutes, which was odd because there was nobody in the place. it did look like they were doing a lot of maybe to go orders? We got the food which was in paper bags even though we said we were eating in. Whatever. It looked good so I dug into the wings first. Now, I like a good crunchy wing, but these things were burnt to a crisp. The sauce had very little flavor and the wings had parts. I've never seen on a wing before. Extra bones and lumps and bumps. They were not pretty nor did they taste very good. They had no blue cheese, which highly offended me! In my opinion, you can't serve wings without blue cheese, but that's me. I've been into the cheesesteak and it was mushy and had no flavor. The fries were basic fries. Nothing to talk about. The ketchup was a generic ketchup, which was not good at all. We were only given like two napkins. I had to go up and ask for more. The napkins were extremely thin and ended up disintegrating in my hand and sticking to the sticky spots. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. There was only one restroom and it was absolutely filthy. The floor was covered in what I hope was just water. The toilet had a bidet which was filthy and so was the toilet itself. I will never go back and do not recommend. read more

The food was good. But not even 2 hours later I was throwing up having severe stomach pain. This was the only thing I've eaten all day long so there's no other cause for me to feel so sick. My fiancé had a Philly cheesesteak with just meat cheese and mayo but I had shrimp mushrooms and banana peppers. Whatever I had that he didn't is what caused it. Regardless I just hope they fix whatever the issue is bc I'm really sick rn. read more

BEWARE....Ok so boom, went in with the family on some late night, I'm not cooking after painting the bathroom type ish. Street parking only was like ugh, but found a spot right in front. Walked into half the place behind caution tape, as they are glazing the floor, no line but a few people waiting at the tables that were available. Get to the counter and was greeted and told the best sellers. In the middle of placing the order with the cashier, another dude came out of the kitchen and started speaking with the guy that was taking our order...17 million seconds later....we got back to ordering the food after they had a good laugh in a language I didn't recognize. Ordered the #1 adding bell pepper/ green peppers, with onion rings and strawberry can cold drink for me and the Philly and wings for Hubby, second oldest boy had the chicken Philly with shrimp with fries and grape cold drink. We were told the wings would take 25 minutes and everything would come out at the same time. Took a seat at an open table, set a timer and had a good chuckle over the order experience. The traffic going in and out for Uber eats and other pick up orders was steady. 20 minutes later the food was brought to the table in a large brown paper bag, we usually would take the food to go, but the yummy smell from the bag begged us to say grace and dig in.....Baaaaaabbby let me tell you, the wings were crispy, sauce on the side was Jamaican jerk, highly recommend for that spicy level. Fries and onion rings were crispy and good portions, the bread was so fresh and soft, it really reminded me of the fresh French bread for poboys in New Orleans, that Philly was filled with steak and onions, great mayo ratio and the provolone pull was crazy, same for the chicken and shrimp, 4-5 large shrimp atop the chicken Philly...very plump, very juicy! That was about a week ago and we have gone back about 4 times since and now I have to place a phone order because I can taste it...ugh read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. The reason behind it that I ordered a chicken Philly and they gave me a steak Philly and when I got my chicken Philly the actual chicken was super dry. My buddy got the mambo wings and the breading sucked as well as the chicken wasn't seasoned and the quote unquote mambo sauce wasn't real mambo sauce. I do not recommend going to this location. On top of everything we had to wait 20 minutes for our food. If you want a good cheesesteak go to steak and gyro in carytown or Charlie's. read more

My partner and I have eaten here a couple of times and have never had any issues really. Tonight we went and my boyfriend told the guy working that he had a shellfish allergy, just to give heads up like hey clean the grill or don't cook it next to shrimp..and the guy up front literally said " I mean I can clean the grill but we cook shrimp all day and if something happens I'm not going to be responsible" . We both looked at each other confused because we've never had them tell us that before so I wanted to confirm with the guy working like.."do you think it'll be an issue?"and he said " I don't know, I just don't want to be held responsible in case something happens". I'm pretty sure that's not how restaurant safe food practice and cross contamination works but okay. Just because you give a disclaimer that you don't want to be held responsible for contaminating someone's food at your restaurant, doesn't exclude you from being responsible. It was a really round about way of saying, we don't clean our grill properly, don't intend to, and don't care. We left and went to a different spot in Carytown with much better customer service. Sooo if you have a shellfish allergy I would suggest going literally anywhere else. The guy ringing us up was super rude about the entire thing and really acted like he could not care less. read more
