My sister and I didn't have to wait long at all. Every one behind the booth was working hard to make sure we were all taken care of quickly and with courtesy. It seemed like a family affair and I love seeing more entrepreneurial Filipino families sharing their take on Filipino food. The flavor of the wings and sisig were delicious; I inhaled them really. My only thing was I wish there was a little more sisig and a little less onions in the tacos. But, I have a hearty appetite, so this might just be me. Otherwise, I really like what they're doing and will be back for more wings and sisig. They are definitely worth checking out. Look forward to seeing what they come up with next!

I visited for a Mindful Mornings event on a rainy November morning. Nearby metered street parking was easy to grab. For this event the space was set up for a presentation. A large projector screen was displayed in the front of the room. Small tables were set up on the side featuring some caffeine and sweets from local businesses who partnered for this event. There was ample seating around the room. The signs on the wall could be quickly changed to accommodate a menu or just an inspirational quote or message to fit the theme of the space. In the back of the room there was a full professional kitchen ready for some of the area's culinary talent to make magic happen. From their website "Created and sponsored by Grow. ENJOY: is a 501(c)(3), with a mission to raise funds for local, culturally-focused charities through unique creative experiences." I am so excited that this space exists and I will be actively keeping an eye out for unique local experiences in this space.

Land of Saffron is fabulous! They are a Richmond-based food pop up and caterer that serves…read moreauthentic Spanish paella. They offer two styles: traditional with chicken, shrimp, and mussels, or vegan with white truffle oil. Both of course have the usual Spanish rice and vegetables. A heaping portion served in paper bowls costs about $12 and you can add the truffle oil to the non-vegan paella for $1. I first sampled their offerings at the Broad Appetit food festival, and was amazed watching them cook for the masses. I've never seen such a large paella pan in my life! Even with thousands of potential customers milling about, their attention to detail was striking. The seafood and chicken was beautifully and symmetrically laid out in the pan where it cooked, and the staff made sure each scoop had identical servings of protein. Most importantly, the flavor is phenomenal. They have the recipe down to a science, so even in enormous batches both the rice and meat is perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The combination of the tangy rice, succulent proteins, and acid from the peppers makes it very well balanced so no one component overwhelms the others. I also absolutely love the vegan version, which has such a great earthy, luxurious flavor with the white truffle oil. It's umptious, comforting food that leaves you stuffed and satisfied. They do not currently have their own website or Facebook page, but you can find them on Instagram, the AllEvents Richmond website, and on Facebook Events where they're pop ups are announced. They frequent Final Gravity Brewing and/or Ardent Craft Ales every other month or so. The pop up aspect does mean that you can't satisfy your craving whenever it calls, but it makes it feel a bit exclusive. It also feels a bit like a community, because you start to recognize other loyal fans and friends of the owners. I absolutely recommend it to paella lovers and novices alike!

It didn't fill half the container and rice is so cheap and for $14, why I am getting only about a 3/4 cup of cooked rice? Never seen that before at Asian restaurants. Usually get more rice than I can eat, but it was definitely flavorful. Skewers were also well seasoned it quality of beef wasn't great. We spent a bit over $30 for two dishes but I'd say it wasn't really enough food for two people and I'm not a big eater. Portions are too small. 3.5 stars.
