It was a weekday after work. I went to my homegirl's house because I missed her birthday I offered to take her out someplace nice. She said no way man and immediately said we were going to this sandwich shop. This was the only thing she wanted. So we were gonna veg out on her couch. Have a couple cocktails and whatever else and watch something on TV. And her new couch is the bees knees. For me, the sandwich was perfect. The bread was beautiful and crusty. I was afraid it was going to be toasted and too crusty, and I'd be fighting to bite it and my sandwich guts spilling out while cutting up my gums and the roof of my mouth like it's Captain crunch or something.. BUT NO! It was PERFECT to bite through. They load you up with the meat they're not stingy. And the sauces... BABY! The aïoli was fantastic. My only beef is that horseradish aioli needed a little bit more of a kick, but that's a personal problem. My friend got the chicken Caesar and I see why it's popular. It is so garlicky and delicious. I already have plans on what I'm gonna get next time I go and I don't live close so it's gonna take a special trip and I intend to make it.

I promptly took it to the park near by (Laurel Park), overlooking the city and had a great meal! The sub is a good size but not overly big. The flavor were delicious and I would definitely try more of the menu in the future!

I wanted to start with the mac and cheese. I was told they weren't doing that anymore because its too hard to "keep" in the back. But it is still on the menu. I ordered the lucy salad, and they added chicken without me asking. I am a vegetarian and they also didn't take it off the bill. Fries were served cold. The ambience is very disappointing. It is VERY loud inside, there is nothing in the restaurant to absorb sound. So it is hard to talk to anyone at your table if there are more than 3 parties inside. The tables were small and wobbly. The chairs were hard, uncomfortable, and small. The restaurant is mostly tables with chairs like this so there is no where to put your purse but on the floor. We ordered a beer and they handed us a tall can with no glass. We had to ask for a glass and they didn't pour the beer for us. This was the manager, might i add. I will not be going back here.

They also have a little grocery section with a good selection of wine, beer, chocolates, and other basics. They also have a good variety of menu of options that can cater to plant-based folks like us - we opted for the vegan TLT and vegan mushroom philly and both delicious! The flavor profiles were pretty on point, but the sandwich bread really stood out - they had just the right crunch-to-soft ratio The staff are also lovely - they helped me pick from the options and were very knowledgeable about the menu - good vibes all around and definitely worth stopping by if you want to enjoy a casual meal with great food and drinks. Pro-tip: you can also order to-go and walk over to the Jefferson park to enjoy an easy picnic with a stunning view of the city

I like that they call you to let you know your order is ready. They were inside of Hatch Kitchen, which looked clean and nice. I ordered the turkey bacon ranch with chicken egg rolls. The egg rolls were crispy and creamy with chicken on the inside. The sauce served with them was of mild spice, but otherwise so delicious. The TBR sub was very good. I love the amount of meat, bacon, and cheese, as it wasn't an 'empty' sub at all. The price was a bit steep at $26 and some change, but it was overall 7.8/10 worth it.

Earlier in the month, I was finally able to check them out for the first time. I had my eye on their Italian hoagie, which is listed under the Cold section, but I know better at this point in time of living in the South and the many Italian hoagies that I have had to refrigerate. So I ordered it without the tomato or peppers and served cold. I ordered it through the bartender, who told me that they do serve them cold and that they were out of peppers that day. Turns out they were not out of peppers and they did not serve it cold. I can't eat peppers due to food sensitivities, so I sent it back and asked for it to be re-made. This was the bartender's mistake, from the receipt I could see that he didn't send those notes to Fat Kid, to be clear. The second rendition was made correctly, and it was definitely tasty, but they are overpriced. It's pretty obvious from my picture that this wasn't some hefty, super stuffed and loaded with meats/cheese hoagie. It looks like a normal 6" hoagie. Not worth $11 for it, in my opinion. I'd rather spend $16 at Stanley's or $10 for a full-size at Mr. Submarine.

No signage, not detailed on the menu, just an ambush once you've placed your order. It's a bs fee to begin with, but concealing it until the last minute is unethical. I'm guessing it will catch up with y'all as these sorts of sketchy business practices often do.

We were surprised by the size of the restaurant when we walked in. It seems smaller from the outside; not that it was huge, just deceiving. It reminded me of a homey Jason's Deli (IYKYK). The woman at the counter was helpful and kind. We had a few questions about some items on the menu, and she asked the kitchen staff anything that she didn't know offhand. We decided on the fried cauliflower for an appetizer; it was monstrously huge, and much more flavorful than I expected. The spices and textures on the plate added a lot to the dish's overall essence. I ordered the Rachel for an entree, and my partner ordered the Sharona. I subbed the chips for a side salad. The salad was tangy or tart, almost bitter. I didn't mind; I thought it was quite good. It is a lot of acidity if you are not expecting it. The Rachel was fantastic, except that the coleslaw had some onion bits mixed in. We are not onion fans in this household. Ha The Sharona would have been a better choice, as I much prefer pickles to oniony coleslaw. My partner said she really liked hers. We had half a sandwich each for leftovers the next day, and shared the leftover chips, since I finished off my salad the night before. The sandwiches heated up exquisitely in the oven at 325°F for 15 minutes. I felt that Susie's is a definite hidden gem, and I can recommend it to anyone who likes a well-made sandwich. I will be back to sample more of the menu and report back my findings at a future date.

While we all ordered one after the other, our food didn't come out that way. Most of the food came out in about 25-30 minutes. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy! Two people got tenders and three of us got sandwiches. The OG sandwich was very good, just messy! I ended up using a fork and knife bc it got too messy. The Mac and cheese was made with pimento cheese and was very good. My friend who got the fried green tomatoes said they were delicious and filling. Lots of goodies on top. The servers were also tending the bar which was getting decent traffic even at lunchtime. My dining partner says there is a pool table in a back room, and that could be fun to fold into a longer visit. The piped in music was light jazz. The menu is oriented around philly cheesesteaks and variations. I ordered the chicken philly, which was large enough to make two lunches (I brought half home.) The flavor was decent, with seasoned or marinated chicken chunks and veggies & cheese on a sturdy roll. It came with a decent serving of chips. We were served a juice glass of room temp water on arrival and no drink order was taken. Negatives were related to pacing. It took a lot of time for the food to come out. We were pushed to eat even half of our sandwiches within the hour my dining partner had for lunch. The server did not check back after dropping the plates, which could have been an issue if we needed more water. And getting the check was a challenge that took way too long considering how small the place is. This is a decent place to grab a sandwich or a drink if you have the time or live in the neighborhood.
