The outdoor dining area was lovely and the service outstanding. I ordered the risotto as it is one of my favorite foods. The whole dish was overwhelmed with sour lemon. So much so that I was unable to eat more than a few bites. My lunch companion had ordered the same dish (with added shrimp). I had my serving boxed to go, thinking I might offer it to her, but she in turn was asking if I might like hers, as she could taste nothing but the lemon. I wanted to try everything off of their menu most everything., I'm hesitant to say all because I just don't remember was gluten-free or could accommodate gluten-free, all of their fryers are 100% gluten-free. I ate at the bar. The bartender helped me navigate all of the things I wanted to try and help helped me pair down best of the best since I was traveling and I couldn't take any leftovers. Bartender also helped me select a glass of wine to go with my dinner. Everything was phenomenal. I highly suggest the octopus. I also suggest a sandwich. Their gluten-free bun was amazing. The broccolini that I had was good. I just personally prefer mine to be more well done than it was and the lemon aïoli that goes with the fries..... good night. I finally went to Pinky's with a friend and we sat outside! It was such a gorgeous night and it's decorated so well! Such a great ambiance! I loved how the inside was decorated too! Parking is very hard depending on when you go. it's all street parking and there's a lot of restaurants and just businesses around. I had one of the best meals ever: Atlantic Crab and Sherry Risotto!! I still day dream about it!!! I WILL be back! the cocktails are also fantastic! We came on a Thursday night around 8:00 p.m. The parking situation here is usually daunting, though, we did manage to snag a spot nearest to The Brooklyn. Upon entering, the atmosphere was quite modern and welcoming: a bright and airy vibe you would expect of a famous brunch spot. The bay doors and windows open up the space making it feel even larger. We were seated immediately without a reservation. There were a few tables available, as well as spots at the bar. Our server's name was Jane. She maintained a sweet and kind personality and was knowledgeable about the menu. Any questions we had that she didn't immediately know the answer to, she verified with the chef to be sure. They are very conscious about food allergies here. The menu is clearly curated by chefs with an exceptional understanding of food science, which also comes at an elevated, albeit worthwhile, price. We placed orders for three tapas plates. The zucchini frittas, the spring burrata, and the chicken tirokroketes. Each dish was light and springy, having a similar culinary parity to The Brooklyn's cuisine. Those three shared between two people were enough that we felt full by the end. We ordered the seasonal cheesecake for dessert. It was rich, scrumptious, and melted in the mouth with little coaxing, the nuts offering some additional crunch. Pinky's provides a warm and comfortable atmosphere to bring a date. The ambiance and mood were relaxed, not too loud for talking or getting to know someone. The staff were equally attentive and worked diligently to accommodate their guests. Our server Jane was very accommodating and her tip was well deserved. IMO Scott's Addition is a challenging area to find parking, so it can be frustrating. We found Pinky's and it was a spacious spot, not cozy but open and airy. The Caesar salad was nice enough and the meatballs were good; I had the Giardino Board which was presented in a bit of a mess. I wasn't super impressed. Just a pleasant lunch. We were greeted by friendly people and seated for our reservation promptly. Pinky's Restaurant has a contemporary design.The restaurant is roomy and comfortable. Ianna was our server she was stellar with personality and service. She was training a new colleague and she was very nice too. Ianna was the perfect person to train a new server. Customer service appears to be a priority at Pinky's. Drinks, appetizers and entrees were served with precise timing. Drinks and water were refilled as needed. There are many choices on the menu. We chose two tapas items for appetizers for our table. There are many great tapas choices. Three of just had to have the Spicy Lamb Risotto entree. It sounded so good and the entree lived up to all of our expectations. The risotto was mildly spicy and had great flavor. The lamb was cooked shredded and was seasoned just right. My wife had the Rockfish Cartoccio which featured a healthy portion of succulent rockfish, done to perfection, broccolini and toasted crostini. A great choice? Such a cute brunch spot! The interior is bright and airy with tall ceilings and giant windows. They also have a little patio which is wonderful for those warmer days. I got a glass of orange wine and the grilled shiitake mushroom bowl. The orange wine was fabulous, but I'm also biased because I've never had an orange wine I didn't like. The bowl was so delicious and fresh. The star of that bowl were the potatoes for sure though. The mushrooms were good but honestly didn't add much to the bowl. I came here with my parents for dinner while they were in town, and between the three of us, we shared five small plates of varying sizes. The crispy pork belly was delicious and so flavorful. We felt like the octopus was a little bit overcooked, and I wish the fries were crispier. Our waiter recommended the Atlantic crab risotto, and he did not lead us astray. This portion size is very generous, and the crab and corn provide a lovely contrast of flavors. The pistachio topping added a lovely texture as well. We also shared one of the paninis and really enjoyed it. The waitstaff were very attentive, and the food was quick to come out. Came here with my wife and baby for Valentine's Day. The restaurant itself is nice, I bet it's really cool in the summer when the doors are open. The service was honestly awesome, the server and even the hosts were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond. We were a little late and called them and told them and they were totally fine with it. Our table was close to the kitchen so the host asked us if we'd like to change tables to get away from the noise which was very thoughtful. The food was top notch. We got the grilled octopus as an appetizer. The octopus was cooked perfectly and that black sauce that it comes on was really good. I got the bone in pork chop and my wife got a chicken pesto sandwich. The pork chop was cooked absolutely perfect and everything on the plate meshed well. I am sorry to give this rating to Pinky's, one of my favorite restaurant when I gave 5 * two years ago. All foods were cold, the calamari's were tiny, soggy and cold. My friend had Pinky's special meatballs, cold with some soggy arugula. Coffee, cold. The server was very nice and brought a new cup of coffee, after taking a long time, came a little warmer. Unfortunately by that time my desert was eaten, which I wanted to have with coffee. This is the third time I have been there. Pinky's is a Southern-fusion restaurant masquerading as Mediterranean, where every dish seems to be crafted to sucker-punch diners with one aggressive flavor after another, under the dubious pretense of being "Calabrian cuisine." The food is technically competent and generally tasty, but the composition screams "young and insecure chef." There is no palate rest, no quiet, and little trust in subtlety. The menu reads sophisticated, but the experience is more like being tenderized from the inside. Not recommended for those with digestive sensitivities or for diners who believe a beet salad shouldn't open with a right hook. Our server was excellent, the drinks were just okay - one being dominated by chili pepper and the other by piquant lime oil. Multiple dishes looked as though a bag of whole pistachios had been spilled on them. Even the cheesecake dessert, which one might expect to be a safe harbor, was acidic, spicy, herbal, and assertive, (vinegar, lime zest, fresh ginger, torn basil,) like the kitchen couldn't imagine a dish succeeding unless it punched every receptor one last time on the way out. If you enjoy this kind of Southern-fusion flavor maximalism, and the bravado it implies, Pinky's may be for you. For me, it was a skilled execution of questionable ideas. All of the drinks were pretty strong. Mine was supposed to be sweet, but it was still strong for my taste. For the entree, I got the lamb chop. It was a bit on the pricier side and a bit salty, but the food was good overall. For the dessert, I tried the Tiramisu and the cheese cake. Everything tasted fresh, but I liked the cheese cake more because the Tiramisu was a bit dry. The food was good- the service was great - and I appreciate the airy ambiance with a high ceiling, big picture windows and great handicap accessible entry and facilities. (I use a walker). I had the citrus, fennel, arugula and pistachio salad with dill salad dressing. Husband went for the chicken and chili sandwich with side salad. My friend chose a charcuterie plate with cheeses, jam, fruit and bread. We all really enjoyed our meal. I've been to Pinky's several times now and each visit is better than the previous one. The menu isn't large but it does cover all the bases and is very dietary inclusive. They use fresh ingredients in their food and drinks. The cocktail program is quite exquisite. I enjoyed a cocktail with flower sprinkles in it. This restaurant is located in Scott's addition and does not have its own designated parking lot. Finding parking can be an adventure so plan ahead for that. A Mediterranean restaurant featuring creative dishes near downtown Richmond. The place was not easy to find, and it looked humble outside. However. the inside had nice decors -- including the diningware and napkins, all of which correspond to the name of this restaurant. I came there twice during my visit to Richmond. First time was for brunch. I ordered a crispy chicken & chile sandwich sub a side of fruits, plus a side broccolini. The fried chicken was drizzeld with honey and tasted spicy-sweet. The Fresno chiles was juicy and sweet, which paired greatly with the chicken. However, the bread they use was not baguette (indicated by the menu). Worse, some grapes were spoiled. The broccolini was good. The second time was for dinner. Ordered Rockfish Cartoccio because I never tried having fish baked in a "bag". The dish looked interesting. The meat was tender. However, there was little fennel and everything was too salty for me. Plus, they charged $8 for just several pieces of bread! Service was Okay. Vibe was a bit loud but I like it. So in general it is a good place to try/learn some new dishes but not a "safe" place to have an amazing meal. read more

If you don't enjoy Pinky's, you don't really like good food, service and a fun, albeit loud, atmosphere. It's a perfect place to start my birthday week restaurant crawl and beach vacation. We made a last-minute reservation for 12:30. When we arrived the restaurant was crowded but there were some tables available. We were sat at a 2-top by the bar. I'm not a fan of 2-top tables. I wish restaurants would just do 4-top tables or larger 2-top ones. There's just not enough room to spread out a little. It's the equivalent of being an adult at the kids' table on Thanksgiving. The table was wobbly too. I hate to complain but at this point I was feeling like my expectations were too high. When our server Megan came to the table I asked if there was a way to level the table and apologized for asking her but she very graciously went and got the thing that could slide under the leg, making it stable. Ahhh. So much better. We started with drinks...smoke and chill and the manhattan. Megan brought water over when she first greeted us so we were set. The menu. Oh my gosh...the menu! Well, I should say menus. We were there on Saturday, which means brunch and lunch, plus cocktails and wine. And they had a couple more cocktails on special on a little stand that were for the Flying squirrels. Nice! I've always wanted to be one of those people who could just say 'we will have one of everything,' like the judges on Top Chef when they are doing restaurant wars. But we don't have that luxury because frankly I hate food waste and I can only eat so much. So calamari for my husband and scallops for me. Y'all, go look at the scallop picture I posted. It was amazing! It had a cream sauce with a hint of spice, polenta cakes and a garlicky gremolata with pickled fresno chilis. There was also a sherry reduction. Holy cow This was good. Honestly, if I had that with some crusty bread or pasta...I need to get back to Pinky's before that leaves the menu. Go there, Get the scallops and a slide of bread and thank me later. For mains we got the red snapper cooked with wine, butter, garlic, saffron and fennel. It had tomatoes too. It was baked in parchment so steamed perfectly with the flavors intermingled. It came with grilled bread and asparagus. I ate as much as I could but ended up giving half the fish to my husband. I wanted to make sure I had room for dessert. Tiramisu and Pinky's version of an espresso martini. Probably the best I've ever had. I was around for the first round of espresso martinis being a thing in the 90s so I've had my fair share. This one is next level. My husband has been on the hunt for Strega, a digestive he used to drink in Boston, where he is from. He said Pinky's is a cool bar so they'll have it. I said no way, but lo and behold, it showed up at our table, making the day special for my husband too. What an amazing meal to start a great week. If you haven't tried Pinky's, you must go. Especially if you like Mediterranean-style food and enjoy amazing seafood. Can't wait to go back. Megan is on my list of fun servers. We went to Pinky's to celebrate my wife's' birthday and we had an amazing time! The charred octopus was on the level and the Hasselback potato (potatoes cut about halfway through into thin, fan-like slices) was the perfect compliment. The cocktails were also picture perfect. For the main entrée I had the 18 oz. bone-in ribeye which was to die for. They cooked it a perfect medium-rare and it with a big glob of their "Pinky's steak butter" which I devoured. Just like the charred octopus the accompanying fingerling potatoes were a perfect match. I tried a few bites of the lemon-parmesan arugula but for me arugula tastes like licking a battery. My dark leafy greens of choice are Kale, Collards, and spinach. My friends got the Crispy Chicken Piccata and let me tell you, Pinky's hooks you up when it comes to portion size. Nobody was leaving hungry that night. The chicken piccata comes with broccolini and I should have asked for that instead of what a nickel tastes like (i.e. arugula). The birthday girl had the Pesto Chicken Panino and enjoyed it. That dish also came with a side of dark leafy car batteries. Lasty, the 4th member of the squad got the seasonal risotto which was cooked very well. Overall, the food was excellent, the service was lovely, and the setting was super pleasant. Went to check out Pinky's during restaurant week and I was really impressed with everything. Our waiter was extremely nice and made me and my friend feel really welcomed and checked up on us often. We never felt rushed when we were trying to order and they offered some great suggestions. Started off with cocktails , I ordered the marigolds vs peonies which was great, has really light and has an airy feel to it which was perfect for a nice day and also fits into that coastal Mediterranean theme. When the food came out, everything looked as good as it tasted. I ordered the seasonal risotto and you have the option to add a protein to it if you like and I chose crab. My friend ordered the Atlantic crab French omelette with a side of potatoes, and we both agreed that everything hit the mark. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a nice patio area, which is great for a sunny day like when we went. All the items we ordered were delicious. I ordered the secret garden cocktail which was light and refreshing which is exactly what I wanted. I loved that each menu item had a unique ingredient or twist to it. For our appetizers, we got the burrata and meatballs. The burrata had apples and walnuts with it which really added to the dish! It was so good!! I'd definitely get it again. The meatballs were great as well - pretty standard meatballs but tasty!! I got the seasonal risotto for my entree and my husband got the chicken picatta. Everything we had was delicious from the cocktails to our food to the dessert. Our server was super friendly and patient with us. We never felt rushed although we were admittedly there for awhile catching up. Half the menu is tapas. The server let me know they are large enough to be an entree for an individual. Normally, I love this place. Pretty much been happy with almost everything Ive ordered here. Today I got the pesto chicken panino sandwich, which was very good. However, I asked if I could add barrata to the sandwich and the waitress said no problem. She didn't mention an up charge, but I figured she'd either tell me or it would be like three or four dollars at the most. They charged me nine dollars. I think they should have let me know that and given me the option of declining the addition. A $17 sandwich turned into a $26 sandwich. It was good but I don't know if it was $26 worth and kind of a bummer on what was a nice meal with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. The only criticism I have about the sandwich itself is that the bread was too soft for a Panini. Needed something more substantial to hold up. My friend enjoyed her mushroom and goat cheese sandwich and said it had a little kick which was nice. Parking is a challenge and no fun in rainy weather which also means the patio is not an option.
