When visiting Joe's Inn it's easy to see why it is a Richmond institution. This no frills Fan restaurant and bar does everything it sets out to do well. When we visited, a single waitress handled the main restaurant. While this did mean it took some time to place our order, the service was friendly throughout. I ordered the Loaded Spaghetti Dinner for $21. This hearty meal was true to its name and was piled with sausage, pepperoni, meatballs, and melty cheese. The dish tasted great, and would perfect before or after a day of heavy work.

This was my first time eating here. We met a friend there at their recommendation. We went on a Saturday night and the wait was about 15-20 min but we were at the bar so the time passed quickly. We had salads and a pizza. Both were very good. My understanding is that they make their own sauce. The parking is street only but we did not have an issue at all. The waitress was good and we enjoyed our visit. Afterwards, we walked around a coupld of the blocks by the restaurant. That was also very interesting. Lots of old houses with historical markers from the early 1900's

I came here for breakfast last weekend and it was really good. The service was awesome and so was the ambiance. We sat at the bar and I ordered the Serrano Bloody Mary which was to die for. I had 2 eggs over easy w bacon, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. I would definitely come back.

Right when we walked into Joe's Inn, it was packed. I expected to wait a long time for a table, but a server flagged us over right away. I've always heard about Joe's Inn, but I never had the chance to try it until now. Our waitress greeted us and took our drink order quickly. I could tell it was going to be fast-paced service, which I love. After our drinks arrived, we were ready to order everything. We started with the mac and cheese and the chicken tenders appetizer. For our entrees, we ordered the regular burger with a side salad and the chicken parm pasta. It took around 15-20 minutes for our entrees to come out, but the time flew by as our waitress brought us salad and their signature bread with butter. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely have to go back for their esteemed happy hour or brunch.

We love this place. We've been coming here for over 40 years. A social yummy restaurant that serves everything with great passion. A Richmond icon.

Delicious crab cakes, steamed broccoli, and green beans. Loved that they serve cinnamon butter with the sweet potato. The server Kels was lovely! Such a wonderful personality. The steak tips were ordered medium but they seemed well done which was not satisfying. The green beans were different (called Greek with tomato added) but tasty. The complimentary bread wasn't special. Service was fast and prices were good. Go, enjoy!

I absolutely LOVE this place. What a hidden gem. They have HUGE portions, a cozy inside, great drinks, and the sweetest service!! I will always actively seek this place out, the food is delicious and has really great prices. I've ordered pastas, salads, sandwiches, etc., and it has ALL been good. If you go, consider getting the coconut cream pie! I dream about it

We were in a sandwich mood and decided to try Joe's. For starters, it has plenty of parking. Once inside, you can sit wherever you want. The waitress was very nice. We ordered a Pastrami Reuben with fries, but you can pick either pastrami, corn beef or turkey. I ordered extra thousand island on the side. We also ordered a Club Sandwich with cole slaw. This sandwich was huge! It can easily be shared by 2 people. The cole slaw was delicious! Overall, Joe's has great food and employees. There are so many things to try in their menu, everyone in your party will be happy. We definitely recommend it.

Spaghetti a la Greek: Portions are ENORMOUS. We could not finish this for the life of us. Really just treat everything here as 1.5-2 portions per dish. Spaghetti was very tasty. Red sauce was great, and nicely balanced with the cheese. Blackened Chicken Breast: I heard about this one from Reddit. It is really tasty. Definitely get blackened. The chicken is seared very nicely, and it's still very tender. We got this with the broccoli and onion rings. Broccoli was just broccoli. Onion rings were delicious. Service was friendly. Lots of bang for your buck.

Real country girls KNOW it's hard to find chicken livers that are good and this delivered. Was skeptical because it wasn't served with gravy but the sides and portions were phenomenal! Will be back to try everything on the menu, the appetizers and sandwich I tried was amazing. Our waitress was so sweet and accommodating.

I come to Joe's often and I really love it. It is a super cozy Richmond staple. I love them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have delicious bloody mary's and onion rings! You have to try Joes at least once if you are in Richmond. I love Shield's Market across the street for dessert.

We ordered the brussel sprouts- they were great with a nice heat from the sauce. We had the crispy skin salmon, which came with a nice fresh salad, The skin was amazingly crispy and the flesh was flavorful. I asked Briana to surprise me with something good and boy did she deliver. It was their porkchop served over some super tasty mashed potatoes. Note that this is not how they are usually served, it was Briana's favorite way to eat this dish so she made the decision for me. The porkchop was very very good. Nice grill marks, onions, and a very nice cream-based sauce. This was so so good. They are doing great food at this new location and I will be back again.

The staff were polite, but we had to ask several times to get items we were missing or things we wanted extras of. They checked in on us a fair number of times, but they still forgot to return to give us what we had asked for. By the time we were ready to leave, we still haven't gotten our dressings or our condiments. I also had asked for my burger to be well done, but I got a burger with quite a bit of pink in it. I didn't want to ask for it to be placed back on the grill because I didn't really want to wait longer for my food. Although I wanted my burger to be well done and I didn't get it that way, it was still pretty good. The fries though, I think was the best part of it. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crunchy! I also ordered a coke. Just a heads up, they don't do free refills on the sodas, so each cup is $4. My party also ordered salmon l'orange and a romano salad with salmon. My friends really enjoyed their main dishes, but we did ask for extra dressing. The restaurant is decorated in a boho-style vibe, and it was cute. We found the lighting on the side dining area to be a little bit too dim once the sun went down, but I do think it would've been perfect for a date night vibe. Overall, we had an okay experience.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Riverside Tavern on Forest Hill Avenue…read more I ordered the grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus to go for $23.00. When I opened the container, I was shocked to find that the salmon portion was barely larger than my finger. It looked more like a sample than an entrée. I have attached photos because words alone don't adequately capture how small it was. What makes this even more frustrating is that I have ordered this exact meal before while dining in with my family, and the salmon portion I received then was easily three times larger. So this isn't a case of unrealistic expectations--I know what this dish normally looks like. I called the restaurant to express my concern, hoping they would make it right. Instead, the bartender responded with, "The portions are cut how they are cut," as if that somehow justified charging full price for such a tiny piece of fish. When I asked to speak with the owner, I was told, "You won't be talking to the owner. I'll just give him your information." There was no apology, no offer to replace the meal, no effort to address my concern--just complete indifference. If portions have been reduced, customers should be informed before paying premium prices. If this was simply an inconsistent serving, then quality control is seriously lacking. Either way, charging $23 for what amounts to a nugget of salmon is unacceptable. I used to enjoy Riverside Tavern and specifically ordered this meal because I had a good experience previously. Unfortunately, this visit--and especially the way my complaint was handled--has left me questioning whether I'll be back.

Appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, fish, chicken, steak, seafood, other meat options, plus plenty of sides and desserts. There's something for whatever mood you're in. For my appetizer I ordered the fried green tomatoes. I'm very picky about fried green tomatoes because if they're not done right, they can be greasy and heavy. These were not. They were thick wedges of firm green tomatoes in a light batter, stacked with a spread of pimento cheese and finished with a drizzle of honey. The balance of savory and sweet worked really well, and the texture was exactly what I look for -- crisp outside, tender yet firm inside. For my entrée I chose the roasted lamb rack. It came as two double ribs over a sweet potato purée that had a subtle hint of cinnamon -- really nice flavor without being overpowering. The lamb was cooked to the right temperature, juicy and tender, with a light chimichurri and vegetables alongside. I also ordered the grilled corn succotash as a side -- corn, beans, and tomato.
