Wow..I used to love this place but I went there today for lunch and had the worst experience. Granted it was a busy lunchtime but the service was abysmal. When I walked in the girl at the register didn't even acknowledge me.. When they have a "wait to be seated sign" soooo I awkwardly shifted around the register.. When she finally did take notice of me she asked whether I was ordering to go and I said no..I was dining "in"... But instead of seating me.. I was left standing for another 10 minutes while she proceeded to take orders from 3 other tables, then she came back to the register and started shouting to-go orders. When she finally noticed me the second time..she asked "to go right??"... Um noooo.. I thought we had already covered that, but she clearly forgot. Then, STILL without offering to seat me, she said "well do you know what you want?" And Waited for me to give my order at the register. Then she went ahead and rang me up, expecting me to pay before I even sat down! Since I was standing there like a goofball for a full 15 minutes, I saw some orders come out and noticed what looked like thick steak fries, but the folks at the table told me they were actually "eggplant" fries, so I asked if I could have that instead of regular fries for an extra buck.. On my souvlaki platter.. Great! After finally getting to sit down it seemed like another ten minutes or so before she worked her way over with just a basic glass of water. Souvlaki platter comes out with... You guessed it..regular fries. She says she'll be back with the eggplant ones I actually ordered and paid extra for.. In the meantime I start working on the Greek side salad, which was pretty disappointing. If you remember those tiny little dishes you got in the elementary school cafeteria.. Don't worry they're HERE. They have crammed the salad into these tiny bowls, presumably for portion control. The chunks of onion and green pepper were soooo large, it overpowered the few pieces of actual lettuce. Ok well maybe the chicken souvlaki would be better.... Wrong again! The chicken on the skewer looks suspiciously "red"... The first bite is the tip off.. With the kind of rubbery texture that tells you "I'm still RAW!" As I pull the other pieces off the skewer.. I see that each piece is raw in between. But I have to wait because I don't discover this salmonella potential hazard until AFTER the eggplant fries arrive. These I must say were the highlight! Hot and well seasoned.. At least they got that right. I try to flag down the surly waitress who serves the table right next to me and checks on the table directly in front of me without you guessed it.. Even looking in my direction. Maybe I was wearing my Harry Potter invisibility "cloak"..when I finally get her attention and point out the raw chicken... She says "awwww geez" and takes the plate away..sort of apologetically. Then I try to navigate the ginormous chunks of pepper while I wait for the new chicken to arrive..TA-DA!! Oddly, instead of just preparing s second order they refire just the chicken, returning on a tiny appetizer plate with the rest of the stuff missing.. Whatever the new batch looks great.. But as I'm eating it.. I'm getting the same scary elastic quality as the first batch..but not completely raw.. Just that rubber band type of consistency that makes you go "hmmmmmm" as I wonder to myself whether I will most likely be getting some kind of food borne illness in the near now..or have to make a beeline to the bathroom in a real big hurry...then as I get to the last piece.. There it IS Raw in the center.. AGAIN! Seriously? If I hadn't already been forced to pay ahead of time while I waited for my table at the register, I would have asked for it to be removed from the bill..since they knew they had served the first batch seriously raw.. I thought at a minimum the server would ask if the second plate was any better.. I mean.. You would think that would be standard waitress protocol, but nope.. She whizzed back and forth finally roosting back up at the counter. After trying to stomach the few edible pieces I waited and waited..thinking at least I would get a to-go box for the one thing that worked the eggplant fries...no clearing of the plates, no check in to see if the second order was better (I left the rare piece cut open so hopefully they would take notice), no water refill, no ask to see if I wanted dessert or coffee, and I suppose since I had already paid she didn't have to worry about collecting money from an unhappy customer.. Since they got it upfront! Finally after being ignored for the umpteenth time, I got up and walked up to the register to get my own box from the stack of containers on the counter. Two ladies walking out as I did chirped thank you and "we'll be back".. But I can tell you I won't be..unless their attitude, their service and their food turns around in a big way. I know everybody has an off day but these guys misfired on ALL cylinders. Very disappointed! read more
