Greek Potatoes

We stumbled into this place called Athens Tavern one day and cant stop coming. The food is AUTHENTIC GREEK CUISINE and it's fresh and bursting with flavor. But guess what, that's not even the best part... the service is AMAZING!!! Everyone who works here is so sweet, polite, kind and they make you feel like you're amongst family. If you haven't tried Athens Tavern, you need to go!!!

Part of this meal was exceptional and the other was forgettable. The appetizers were delicious especially the flat bread. I could eat it every day. The calamari was very tender, I've never had calamari that wasn't a little chewy. The cheese flambé I could also eat every day although it was just cheese that was set on fire but it was good. Dinner, not so good. The spanakopita tasted like frozen spinach in phyllo dough, it had zero flavor. It needed feta cheese or something, it was the worst I've ever had. My boyfriend had the lamb which he thought was really good. Our companions had the pasta and did not like it. They took it home to see if they could doctor it up some to make it taste better. I didn't like the baklava, believe it or not it had too much filling and the phyllo dough needed a steak knife to cut through the bottom.

We got take out and we, and the baby, LOVED IT! The waitresses were really really nice and we even met with the head cook/owner, (I think ) and She was so nice ! She's a first Gen Greek!

The moment I stepped through the doors I was whisked away across the sea to a place where the thick salt of the Aegean pierced my skin. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was eerily familiar... and then it struck me. I had been here before. Not in the physical space, but it's aura. The year was 2013, I had been partying day and night in Mykonos. After a particularly raucous evening at Cavo Paridiso, I found myself alone in the Temple of Poseidon watching the sun rise. There was a peaceful yet somewhat nerving silence. This silence is where Athens Tavern took me. Once I was seated I ordered the first drink that caught my eye, a Baklava Martini. Twist my arm why don't ya. As I awaited for my drink to arrive I received complementary bread which I indulged. As I gulped my sweet yet refreshing martini, I ordered the Spanikopita, yearning that first bite of spinach, feta Mx and phyllo. It did not disappoint, and I left as satisfied and yet unsettled as my early morning in Mykonos. Until next time - Hank.

Oooohhhhh my gosh. We had this on a whim, as it's over 40 minutes away from us one way for take away. It was worth the drive! The portions were huge! My husband couldn't finish his. I had the zucchini fritters, chicken kabob and potatoes with a side of tzatziki. The fritters were amazing. I acknowledge that some people would consider them to be burnt based on my photo but they did not taste that way at all. There was a creamy texture on the inside and the outside was crispy. The taste was amazing. The chicken was perfect, not over cooked and dry. The potatoes were lemony and perfect. I'm picky about my tzatziki and it was perfect. The pictures were done at home and not perfect but the food was amazing. We have been disappointed by other local take away joints. We found our place

Greek salad with yummy dips in the background!

The Bellevue Sour and Aviation were our cocktail choices. Both were tasty and well executed. I had the branzino with the summer squash casserole, a summer special side. It was sooo good!! Hubby had the swordfish and shrimp. He got the green beans as a side. Each fish dish was prepared perfectly, and served hot. DH didn't like the green beans bc he's not a fan of stewed veg, but I found them tasty. Nephew had meatballs and linguine. He proclaimed it " delicious ". Our server Sarah made it a very enjoyable evening, and it was nice that the manager came by to see how we liked everything. Another great place to add to our "avoid chain restaurants " repertoire.

I mean it's down to the font, the bags, the decor, the menu items. Turns out they're not associated, which honestly put me off knowing how long Stella's has been around. I asked around and apparently others have noticed the same. The food was just okay. The sautéed calamari was rubbery and bland. The salmon was good but also a little bland and slightly undercooked. It was hard not to compare the menu items to the Stella's versions which are heavy hitters. Overall I'd say it's convenient since I live nearby, but I'm in no rush to go back.

You can make your burger the way you want it-- no weird sauces or frills (unless you want), just a delicious tasting burger with a varied menu . my burger: well done, pepper jack cheese, grilled jalapeños, mayo and lettuce. Fresh off the grill flavor with a bun that is warm and lightly toasted (cold buns wreck a burger) and tastes good. Fries are browned with skin on--yum -- a perfect crisp, and salted just right. For me, better than Five Guys. A surprising treat as I generally don't expect much when it comes to fries-- hit or miss. These were great! Onion rings are crisp and not anemic- looking or at all soggy. I have eaten at Beavine (over salted yuk), Burger Bach --expensive and w/sauces that don't belong on a burger. I've done Burtons Grill-- unimpressed, expensive--their bernaise sauce overpowered the burger and made the entire thing soggy. Smash Burger, shake shack, etc., (unimpressed). If you just want a solid, delicious burger and fries or rings, in Richmond VA, this is the place. Thank you Four Brothers. --Satisfied Customer

Lamb kabob was also bursting with flavor but we thought the serving size was small. The falafel plate was very good. Everything was so flavorful and we really enjoyed the food. Although it looks unassuming from outside, it's bright and spacious inside with the lovely aromas greeting you at the door. Ambience: I got seated and placed the order right away. While my order was getting ready in front of me, I had a chance to go around andexplore around. It was a super spacious restaurant with two levels of seating areas. Very bright and surprisingly guarded from the noisy traffic, it was a great spot for a quiet lunch. Food & service: My order of Kebab & fries served with Naan, Tzatziki sauce and Afghani salad was made to order and tasted very juicy and flavorful. Spiced perfectly and the right portion size for 1 person, every bite of the freshly made naan and kabob was perfection. My server was so courteous and attentive and he prepared my food in less than 20 minutes.
