Back again after about 9 years and I was taken aback by the similarities between their branding and Stella's. I thought they must be related. I mean it's down to the font, the bags, the decor, the menu items. Turns out they're not associated, which honestly put me off knowing how long Stella's has been around. I asked around and apparently others have noticed the same. The food was just okay. The sautéed calamari was rubbery and bland. The salmon was good but also a little bland and slightly undercooked. It was hard not to compare the menu items to the Stella's versions which are heavy hitters. Overall I'd say it's convenient since I live nearby, but I'm in no rush to go back. read more

10/10 would return!! Another solid choice in the adorable Bellevue neighborhood. The decor is perfect in reflecting the clean modern Mediterranean esthetic but still honors the old world. The Bellevue Sour and Aviation were our cocktail choices. Both were tasty and well executed. I had the branzino with the summer squash casserole, a summer special side. It was sooo good!! Hubby had the swordfish and shrimp. He got the green beans as a side. Each fish dish was prepared perfectly, and served hot. DH didn't like the green beans bc he's not a fan of stewed veg, but I found them tasty. Nephew had meatballs and linguine. He proclaimed it " delicious ". Our server Sarah made it a very enjoyable evening, and it was nice that the manager came by to see how we liked everything. Went here for a date night with friends. It's a small neighborhood Mediterranian resto. Felt family owned in a good way. We got a nice table near the back and had good service throughout our meal. Easily one of my favorites in RVA. Everything from the ambiance (beautifully decorated and clean, dim lighting, and great music) to the food to the service is a 10. I especially love their creativity with the menu - the specials are always something new and delicious, and the main apps (who knew strawberry pesto was a thing?) and entrees never disappoint. I've come here for years - sometimes just for a salad (the Greek village is my favorite), other times for a bigger spread and opportunity to try a few different dishes. Cocktails are also inventive and delicious. I choose Demi's to celebrate any milestone or birthday I have because it's always exceptional. Plenty of street parking on quiet MacArthur. read more

Serendipitously found this place after not getting in another restaurant. To our surprise, this is a gem in a neighborhood strip! Would recommend having a reservation. Katie, our server who was also working the bar, was great. She was friendly, very attentive, and gave very good recommendations. I had to try the orecchiette alla campagna which had a lot of raves. Yes, they were right! Delicious, very creamy and flavorful. The shrimp santorini was also great. Flavorful and the shrimps were cooked perfectly. Both were very filling. Galaktabouriko was fine. It was a milk custard wrapped in phyllo that was baked and soaked in honey. The baklava was fine as well. Texture was good and not too sweet. The men's room was very clean and smelled so pleasant. Demi's is nestled in a little neighborhood strip. The restaurant itself isn't very large but they manage to fit a fair amount of tables and they have a bar. They're open Tuesday through Saturday and only for dinner. Reservations can be made on Resy. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The service was great. All the food and cocktails we had were all pretty good and reasonably priced. The orecchiette dish was the star. It was flavorful and creamy. I do wish the breading on the calamari stayed put. It's pretty dark inside so it makes a cute date night spot. read more

Had a great dinner at Demi's the other night. Our food was delicious and the dips were fantastic. The fan favorite was the red pepper and whipped feta dip. We also got a cotes du rhone red wine which was perfect for our meal. The food portions were a little smaller than expected, compared to their sister restaurant, but the flavors were rich. Out of the two kabobs, chicken piccata, and orchiaetta pasta, we all agree the later had the best taste with a creamy sauce and spicy Italian sausage. We were too full for dessert, but there seemed to be a wide array of options. The only thing making this 4 starts instead of 5 is the staff. While they were busy, a little kindness goes a long way. We felt forgotten on multiple occasions and only got attention when eye contact was made, yet they attended to their other tables for lengthy periods of time. It seemed like multiple employees were not happy to be there, which was a bit off-putting. The restaurant ambiance itself was calm, but lively, and seating was well-spread-out. Overpriced BLAND food. The apps were fine, but the "Souvlaki" was awful. Seemed like it was boiled chicken that was thrown under a broiler for 5-10 seconds. Any Greek should know to skewer and grill souvlaki. On another note, their logo and branding is a complete rip off from Stella's (a real Greek restaurant) Do yourself a favor and skip this place, especially if want a Greek meal. read more

Had such a lovely first experience at Demi's that I'm looking forward to going back! Chris our waiter was a gem and definitely helped my friend and I make the best choices for our meal. For appetizers we decided on the octopus and a dip sampler in which we chose the htipiti (whipped feta dip) & the melitzanosalata (roasted eggplant dip). The octopus was grilled and seasoned to perfection however I don't feel it being served with pita complimented it in any way. The feta dip was our favorite out of the two dips because while the eggplant dip was good it had such a strong raw garlic flavor, so if that's your thing go for it! For entrees we chose two of the specials of the night which were the scallops with a leek veloute and chicken thighs in some type of North African spices/sauce.. both were delicious! As for the ambiance, it's intimate yet friendly. Perfect for a romantic evening out or catching up with a friend. When I made the reservation for the same day there was plenty of options available however while we were there it filled up quickly so I'd say reservations are recommended although they do accept walk ins. Demi's reminds me of Stella's so much I had to ask if they are affiliated and to my surprise they are not. read more

Demi's gets it done! Mediterranean food here in the states can be overcooked, dull, and doused in too much sauce and low quality oils...but not here! The chefs at Demi's did their research. I highly recommend the: Moroccan fried cauliflower and fried eggplant - the flavors here are gonna take you right to the northern coast of Africa and you're going to love it. (For my anti-fried food folks, it's a really light fry and YOLO). Beef empanadas app - the olive brine & touch of sweetness is an Argentinian dream! I tend to be a 'homemade pasta only' snob, but the linguine w sundried tomatoes & artichokes was so perfectly balanced with just the right touch of lemon, capers, & oil - whew, talk dirty to me. It was a salt, fat, acid, heat trip all night!! Choose any 4 dips/spreads you want, just make sure the Melitzanosalata (eggplant) is on there! DEMI's is a cozy Mediterranean restaurant snuggled in the heart of Northside. We went here to celebrate my 44th birthday. I made an excellent choice because the service was spot on. We were a party of four and started with delicious cocktails and appetizers. The grilled octopus was pretty good and my only gripe is there wasn't more of it. For the main courses my wife had the SAUTÉED SHRIMP AND CHORIZO, I had the ADANA KEBAB, and the breakout rock start was the GORGONZOLA AND PEAS. Maybe I'm just a sucker for Gorgonzola cheese but it was slap yo mama good. There are a lot of great restaurants around Richmond and I feel like DEMI's has carved out a nice place for itself. Stopped into Demi's for dinner on a Friday night with no reservations, but the hosts didn't think it'd be an issue. The place was packed, but only had to wait a few minutes for 2 seats at the bar. The bartender was immediately there, friendly and getting drinks ready for us. We ordered fried calamari for an appetizer and a huge portion came out. The calamari was tender with very light breading, but the kicker was that they had marinara AND tzatziki dipping sauces! The marinara was delicious, but the real kicker was the tzatziki sauce. Never would have thought of that, but I was great with the calamari. For dinner we have the chicken piccata and the lamb kebobs. Both were delicious and d filing. Service was great! The bar was lively, but not crowded and the food was excellent. Will definitely be back! read more

We met another couple here for dinner on a week night. We had reservations which did not seem necessary on arrival.. however it filled up quickly after our arrival. There was adequate street parking when we got there. We got seated immediately and got water and drinks. They have a nice wine selection and have daily specials. I got a pasta with sausage and a tomato based sauce. My wife gotten a chicken dinner. Both were very good. The appetizers were also very good. I highly recommend the risotto balls! They were excellent!!! Of course, the company made the meal but the food and service were quite good Great place to try! read more

Demi's is an upscale Mediterranean restaurant in a cute Northside neighborhood. A friend and I tried it last night and had a wonderful dinner. We started with a Mati cocktail and two spreads - white bean, and Htipiti (spicy feta). Both spreads were excellent, well-season, and the feta had a nice kick. They the dips with pita wedges. The pita was a bit dry but was fine with the delicious spreads. The Mati was tart and refreshing. They have quite a craft cocktail menu. For entrees we tried the Adana kabob and the Shrimp Santorini. The kabob was tender and well-seasoned, with fresh lamb flavor. The kabob was well-done, and I would have preferred it cooked a little less, and will ask for it that way next time. The kabob was served with fluffy rice pilaf, and a tangy tzatziki with plenty of cucumber/onion chunks. The shrimp dish was the star of the evening. Large, tender shrimp, chopped tomatoes, feta, and a garlicky olive oil sauce served over pasta. Everything fresh and ingredients well-balanced. The portion is huge! The atmosphere is simple, but warm and inviting. The noise level is high, and at times I found conversation difficult. Other than that, I have no complaints about a lovely evening. read more

I have walked by Demi's a few times but it often seemed to be on Mondays which is a day that they are closed! Finally my friend and I were planning to catch up on a Tuesday night so we were able to try Demi's. I had heard great things and I was not disappointed! It's located on MacArthur Avenue which is such a cute area in general. The interior is beautiful and has very calming vibes. My friend and I were seated in a great corner that wasn't all the way tucked away but felt a little more quiet than being in the center of the room. We each ordered cocktails - I got the Sorrento which had limoncello, mint, prosecco and raspberry and was very refreshing. For our appetizer, we ordered two of the dips that came with pita (cucumber on request as well which we forgot to do). We got the artichoke tapenade which had a perfect slightly chunky texture and salty taste and the htipiti which was a bit spicy with a creamy texture and both were delicious. I got the chicken souvlaki as my entree which I forgot to take a photo of. It at first seemed a little small but it filled me up perfectly and was probably the proper portion sizing I should be eating. I got home and told my husband we need to go back soon. Demi's is an amazing spot for celebratory meals, date nights, or a treat-yourself-evening. You honestly can't go wrong. I know that's a cop out, but I have had a lot from the menu and it has ALL been amazing. My personal favorite are the stuffed, dried apricots. These are little gems of flavor and you MUST get them. If you're feeling fancy, go at happy hour and get a glass or two of wine and a plate of these. Talk about a way to treat yourself! Reservations are encouraged, but not required. Expect to take your time over the evening. Things are pleasantly gradual, with no sense of being rushed. Staff is friendly, attentive, observant, and love giving recommendations. read more

Food, service, and drinks, Demi had it all. If you want a table you will probably need a reservation but this place surprised us. My wife and I found this place on accident driving through Richmond. It looked good so we ended up sitting at the bar. The bartenders were amazing. The were attentive, served gray drinks, and knew the menu. If they didn't know they found out. The food was as good as the drinks. My wife and had the special pork chop and Italian sausage pasta. I'm not sure what else to say then amazing. This place is worth the visit. I recommend trying the specials.. we LOVED the duck arancini appetizer in a butternut squash sauce.. my party agreed this tasted like the best Thanksgiving meal in a small fried bite . I had to try the Saganaki which was delish, but I will probably opt for the sautéed calamari next time. The tzatziki dip and artichoke tapenade were yummy!!! Ordered an entree off the specials menu...another thoroughly enjoyable treat with a Thanksgiving twist.. stuffed baked flounder with oyster dressing topped with a fried oyster. Happy Yummy Thanksgiving Y'all!!! Gorgonzola and peas with penne pasta rounded out our very satisfying meal. Dessert was a small disappointment - we tried one of the specials, turtle candies in a pastry shell. Very nice affordability priced restaurant. Our server Sarah was attentive and helpful. The acoustics in the place are awful and it is very loud. Not a place for an intimate dinner. The menu had a nice variety of vegetarian and meat options. I did not feel it was truly Mediterranean dishes. I did really like the olive tapenade-it was truly delicious. They should sell it!! Many people around town had raved about this restaurant due to their tasty food and great customer service. We made reservations for a bday dinner and were sat in a timely manner. The food was okay but the service was extremely disappointing. The waitress didn't introduce herself and didn't go over the menu/specials. She barely checked on our table and took a while to even bring us a water refill. My partner ordered a drink and had a wait a while to be asked if he wanted another one. When our food came out, we weren't asked if we needed anything else or if our food was okay. It was very disappointing because the table next to us was getting exceptional service and the waiter was very tentative to their table. I specifically wanted to try this restaurant due to their customer service but was very disappointed. read more

Create Mediterranean place in Richmond. you can make a reservation online easily. There are various types of tables from booths to tables to sitting at the bar. It has very cute Mediterranean decor with evil eye artwork on the walls. I loved everything I had from the flaming cheese to the chicken piccata. The food came out fast and delicious and everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. The sausage pasta was a fan favorite. Will have to go back and try more items next time I visit. My husband, my grandson, and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience from start to finish. We shared an appetizer of three spreads, the hummus, the htipiti, and the artichoke tapenade. We couldn't decide which one was our favorite. We love the option of being able to choose two, three, or four dips and spreads. Even the pita was amazing!. For his entree, my husband ordered the grilled double lamb chops (with mashed products) and thoroughly enjoyed it My grandson ordered the Italian meatballs and linguini and said the meatballs were his all-time favorite meatballs. I ordered the grilled salmon puttanesca. The salmon was cooked absolutely perfectly as was the pasta. The sauce was to die for. The serving size was substantial enough that I had enough leftovers for 2 days. No one had room for dessert but we ordered a tiramisu to go. My grandson ate it later and said he loved everybody and that it was one of the best tiramisu's he had ever had. The service was exceptional.
