One of the very few salad specialty places in my area. The portion is big and it's priced for it. It can be two meals though I typically don't like to eat leftover salad... The ingredients are usually fresh. With all the fixings the calories per order is not low. I wish there were more "green" vegetables in the offering but generally satisfied. Delicious salad that left me completely stuffed! Counter service ordering either as is or build your own bowl/wrap. Well lit, plenty of seating for those who want to eat there. As soon as I walked in the staff behind the counter greeted me and got to work on my salad bowl. When I asked for no chicken he offered a substitute which I just think is so nice! Sometimes I am just overwhelmed by the size of the menu or the line of people and to just be offered my options no stress is so helpful. I tried the falafel in place of chicken and it was incredible! I haven't been to Chopt in so long, but it never disappoints (and it didn't this time!) I usually get the Mexican Caesar or the Crispy Chicken Ranch -- I got the Mexican Caesar this time. They always give you plenty, but it's a little pricey. I also see that they have gone away from the all plastic containers and no have strayed using something more do-friendly -- good for them! read more

Tried this Chopt location a week ago for the first time (first time ever trying Chopt in general). Me and my friend arrived around 6pm (Friday night). Upon walking in, it's looked nicely designed, like the place was newly built. Plenty of spacious seating options. Aside from the workers, we were the only people inside, actually thought they were closed due to the lack foot traffic. But once we stay down and ate more people started to filter through placing to-go orders. As for the salads, I personally was not a fan. I opted for the "make your own" option and got a salad with "warm roasted chicken" (all other meat options are served cold) and a few other toppings, and "ranch" as the dressing. Idk what recipe is used for the ranch but it definitely tasted off. My friend ordered the traditional Cobb salad. Neither of us really enjoyed our salads, 2/5. They both came with slices of "artisanal bread" that were as hard as bricks 0/5. Overall, I would not be returning to Chopt. I personally am not that big on salad, my best friend is, but neither of us enjoyed our experience. $16-$20 for cold topping salad is too much. I've definitely had muchhhh better that cost less. read more

I recently had takeout from here the other day and it was a blast from the past as its been 4 years since I've been near a Chopt and used to get their Mexican Caesar Salad a lot. I prefer Sweetgreen to Chopt as I love their Kale Caesar and think their bread is far superior. However, I find the serving larger at Chopt compared to Sweetgreen, which is a bonus. I ordered the Mexican Caesar with extra dressing and I enjoyed it. It was just as good as 4 years ago but the bread sucked per usual. I plan on coming here often while I'm in town. read more

Delicious salads! I most recently started craving salads and I've gone twice this week to grab a crispy chicken ranch salad from Chopt! The ingredients are so fresh and tasty and I love how they chop everything up into tiny bite size pieces. They have the option to turn any salad into a wrap as well! I really enjoyed the fact that you can customize how much dressing you want on your salad. At the end they ask if you want heavy, medium or light dressing and I always go heavy because their dressings are SO GOOD! I'm a HUGE fan of their crispy chicken. As a salad lover, I am officially hooked on this place and its a must have whenever I am in the RVA!! The ingredients are always fresh and the fact that I can customize my salad is a huge win for me since I make like bits and pieces of the ones on the menu. Not to mention that the portion sizes are huge compared to getting a salad else where. My go to option is similar to a Caesar with some extra option and extra dressing on my salad too!! You can order ahead through the app or walk in and order (my preference) so I can see my salad being made and in case I decide to add something along the way. Well, I'm officially hooked on this custom salad mecca. And thanks to my recent check ins here, I've finally attained the 'Carrot Top' Yelp badge (yes, after eight+ years of using this website -- this is a big deal). Chopt salads are ridiculous. They make lettuce taste good. Each time I've gone in, I've selected the build-your-own option with a romaine/light kale mixed base. I *love* the panko chicken, scoop of bacon, roasted chickpeas, corn, and Parmesan crisps. I always finish it off with the creamy caesar dressing, because it is delicious. Service is friendly and prompt. Prices are reasonable for the quality. I've never dined in, but the ambiance is clean and light. Inviting fast-casual. I just love this place and plan to ride out this addiction. read more

Except I don't like spicy so I did away with the spicy chicken and the peppers and replaced it with regular grilled chicken and cucumbers. And for a little fun I added apples. This was a really good salad!! I'm excited to try another one! Nothing like a fresh salad. I'm sorry I didn't get the girl's name that helped me because she was exceptional. I chose a Mexicali Vegan salad and it was a similar to a southwestern type salad. It has spinach, romaine, roasted sweet potatoes, black beans, hearts of palms, grape tomatoes, and tortilla chip strips. This was very tasty with a little heat at the end. I've been to Chopt on a few occasions and each time I'm left feeling underwhelmed. The salads are fine and quite large, but they leave something to be desired at their price point. The restaurant is clean, sleek, and very modern with large windows and a fair amount of seating, so it's a nice place to meet up with friends or to take a lunch break. You enter the line from the right side of the counter and work your way to the left, choosing your base, protein, toppings, and sauce as you go. There are a variety of recommended classic salads and some rotating specialties to make ordering easier, or you can create your own from scratch. It can be a bit overwhelming on your first visit, so make sure you look over the online menu beforehand. Only get in line once you've made up your mind, because the staff definitely wants to push you along quickly and you won't have time to debate options on the spot. Noise seems to bounce and echo by the counter, so I also have a lot of trouble being able to hear the staff and respond to questions asking if I want bread, a drink, etc. I've found it gets too expensive for me to create my own salad, so I've stuck to the recommended salads like the Santa Fe and the Mexican Caesar. They're made up of ingredients I really enjoy and they fill me up, but it's consistently been just average for taste, especially with the un-breaded chicken, which has no flavor at all. I think they keep their ingredients slightly too cold, which would explain the dulled flavors. Once I let leftovers sit out and get closer to room temperature and I found that I enjoyed it more afterwards. read more

I really do love the salads here. I came back this week because I was in Willow Lawn and starving! Love that they have drive up available where the employees bring out the order to your car. Awesome! This time, I got the cobb salad with ranch dressing. Basic, but safe! I think I underestimated how much I love a chopped salad on my previous visit. The bite sized salad ingredients make this salad super easy and enjoyable to eat. You get some of everything in every single bite. I got the mozzarella cheese instead of blue cheese and added cucumber. I was able to eat almost the whole thing without feeling stuffed! My salad, with a side of sweet tea with lemon, came to $15. I still think that this is really expensive for a salad, but it's easily two meals. Ask for dressing on the side before they start mixing to ensure that it won't wilt and you will be able to eat it over the course of a few days. read more

Was excited to check out this chain salad joint on a visit to Richmond. The interior was a modern, clean feel with popular music playing loudly. There were quite a few staff members behind the counter but only two were actually helping customers. The menu features a number of chopped salad options, toppings, and dressings. There are almost too many options so I would suggest that you check out the website ahead of your first visit. I had the sesame chicken crunch salad with added edamame. The salad was a little over $10 and huge. I was disappointed though in the taste of the salad. It was very bland. I was hoping for a pop from the dressing-nothing. The chicken was unseasoned and minimal, barely a 1/4 cup in a very large salad. I would have to try Chopt again to see if the flavor changes but for now, I would have to say my visit was underwhelming. read more

They have amazing salads or warm bowls with lot of catering to dietary restrictions, most of not all of their product is locally sourced and they also display calories for the salad separate from the dressing and for each dressing as well which makes it seem very transparent. It was truly disappointing that my only option to substitute for chicken or meet in their bowls and salads was a sad looking tofu or an over riped avocado that I had to throw away as soon as I got home because it was all black. I know they have several locations in D.C. and NYC so I was excited to see the new location in Richmond . The decor and staff are very friendly and inviting. The menu has several different featured bowls like... -destination bowls (Nashville Hot Chicken Caesar) -classic (Classic Cobb) -light (Mediterranean Falafel) -bold (Kebab Cobb) -grains ( Chicken Tinga) Of course you can build your own or make substitutions and add ons ( will prob have up charges) . I got the street corn salad with shrimp and avocado added . I ordered the dressing on the side because I just couldn't pick one . They have a huge variety of dressings like chimichurri ranch and sriracha tzatziki . Literally once I got the bowl I could not put it down. I loved crunch that was in the salad and the flavors were so delicious. I know sometimes eating salads can get boring but you will not feel like that eating here. I also got to sample to tortilla soup which was very fresh and tasted homemade not from a bag or can . I am excited to honestly eat my way through the menu . This salad may have volume, but it's so incredibly bland we couldn't bring ourselves to finish it (which was disappointing given that it's expensive). The staff wasn't very helpful, the create-your-own option limits you to 4 toppings and then charged an additional 75¢ for each topping after that, but it was clean and there's a nice outdoor seating area. The Chopt on West Broad Street in Short Pump is the best I've ever been to. It's spacious, airy, very clean, there are seats outside as well. Our server, Lauryn, remembered our names from the previous day and remembered our order. Such caring and outstanding service is rare. I hadn't been to a Chopt in almost a decade, but I have been here quite a few times recently. I would eat here way more if the price was lower. I don't mind the splurge occasionally because it's super delicious and worth it. -chicken tinga grain bowl is my favorite -you can't go wrong with any of the dressings -the fried chicken is a no for me. It's served cold so the breading is kind of gummy. I'm not sure why Chopt thinks cold fried chicken is a good idea. read more

I came in tonight to grab salads for myself and my roommate, there was no customers in the lobby whatsoever, there were five staff members and they were more interested in talking about the time clock policy right in front of me. (Approximately five minutes). Three of them made eye contact with me but didn't even acknowledge me or say hello they just went back to what they were doing as I stood at the glass waiting. One of them finally spoke up and said how can I help you. That person seem to be finally feeling a little bit guilty about talking about internal problems right in front of the customer, and seem to have only responded to me because at that .6 other groups came in behind me and the line became long. I have no problems being patient waiting but when you're just standing there having internal I think it's unacceptable. This is definitely not my cup of tea. Overpriced rabbit food. The portions are big, and you do have a handful of salad and grain options that are very healthy. You can also make your own bowl but doing the math, thats unnecessary expensive and I would not recommend it. This place would definitely be for someone who likes low protein and lots of cabbage, kale, or mixed greens because that makes up most of the meal. The price range is $8-15 for the menu items. Everything is fresh. Its a good place for people who are on a diet or eating raw, vegan, etc. My issue is that I can make it at home, and also it was just very sour and dry salad. They also don't really give you the option to add anything or make substitutions while they're creating your salad. I got the Kabob Cobb with falafel, and my friend got the Chinese Chicken one. Both of us barely had any protein whether chicken or falafel in ours, and even with the regular amount of dressing it was pretty dry. The soup was good though. Mexican chicken soup or basil tomato are both great for this November weather. There is seating inside and out. They have a parking lot in willow lawn, and the service is pretty quick. Given the prices, it might just be cheaper to have them shred dollars bills instead of using organically grown kale. That's my big gripe. That and the ambiance has the soul of a downtown law office. It can be a healthy alternative if you don't go nuts on the toppings and the ingredients are high quality. I like the Chicken Ting grain bowl when I'm particularly hungry. I've always found the staff to be friendly and fast-moving. It's super clean which is a good sign when you're consuming a product that is occasionally infected with E. coli. I swear if I'm going to die from eating something it better be from a juicy, delicious bacon cheeseburger and not a mother flipping salad. read more
