All vegan cafe! Dishes were new to me but very tasty. The sugarcane was previously frozen but decent. Would return for the food! read more

To have these many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu makes this place a heaven for vegetarians. We ordered the coconut mocha, the mango bliss, the Mediterranean sandwich and the chickpea burger and they all tasted out of this world! We went on a Friday morning and it was FCFS, there was no online reservation required. It was fairly busy but we were able to find a table within minutes. read more

Super awesome staff and healthy food. Not much more you need to say for establishments now days

Last minute breakfast in Hilo brought us to Sweet Cane Cafe. Nice place featuring food ingredients from their farm near Pahoa. I ordered the veggie poke bowl and french press coffee. Within a few minutes the coffee was delivered, rich, bold, piping hot and delicious. A few minutes after the coffee was delivered the poke was delivered to the table. Super fresh, delicious and very filling. What a great find! read more

Great little neighborhood vegan place. Great, friendly service. Very casual place a bit worn around the edges but the food was great.

Cute little place with a mellow vibe. Very nice people and good service. Got the ulu burger with gluten free bread and the Mac pesto on the side. Tastey. Don't expect and meaty burger as ulu is a root vegetable but they dud a good job trying to give it a bit of crunch on the outside. Great options for gluten free AND vegan sweets. Got a mini banana loaf not dry or gummy. Great taste and texture Also for a Mac nite choc chip cookies. Also total yumm. Def best Oahu for gluten free vegan desserts hands down. Def will be back to buy some desserts ti bring back with me to Oahu !! read more

Healthy fresh and tasty. I had the ulu burger with a side a of pumpkin soup. The soup was more of a stew and was extremely flavorful. The ulu burger was delicious. My 10 year old granddaughter loved everything as we always taste each other's plate. She had the açaí bowl and was not disappointed. Plenty of seating and a parking lot also makes this place attractive. Sometimes in Kona or Hilo, parking becomes the deciding factor in which restaurant we choose. read more

This place was such a great find! Plenty of vegan options and lots of seating too! I got the ulu and taro poke bowl which was so ono and filling! I could only eat half and saved the rest for later. I loved that they also had a wide variety of pre-made desserts that you can choose from. They all looked so delicious but we decided on the lilikoi haupia sweet potato pie... and that decision my friend, is one we do not regret! The textures were on point and the balance of sweetness from the haupia and ube went perfectly with the tartness of the lilikoi !! I definitely hope to come back on my next trip so that i can try more of their menu :))) read more

Wonderful food, I'll be back again and again. This place has integrity, real local vegetables and fruits. We shared a yummy farm meal with garbanzo patties huge salad Mac nut spread and awesome dressing. Unfortunately the kitchen is very loud, perhaps they might consider putting a sound proof case around their blender. read more

I walked in not knowing what you guys served, and I will tell you that I was mind blown. The ambiance was very cozy, and the lady at the front was amiable. I don't think I have ever had a full-on vegan meal, and I can attest that it was so satisfying. Mac Nut Pesto sandwich was exquisite; the crunch of the sprouts and the pesto sauce was outrageous. The Acai bowl is super fresh, and I love the apple bananas you guys used with the shaved coconut. Overall 10/10 will be coming back. read more

They have lots of interesting flavor combos here. The presentation was gorgeous and the blueberry coffee smoothie I had was delicious. It feels homey inside and the employees were nice. The only thing I would suggest is to say that everything is vegetarian somewhere on the menu. (Unless there already is and I missed it) My partner ordered a burger here not knowing that it didn't have meat. It was a surprise but he still enjoyed it. Will definitely be coming back when I'm up Hilo side! read more

Not only do they have amazing food but they are the sweetest people. The MacNut Pesto was amazing so I bought some to go but it went bad so they replaced it. They didn't have to but they did. The veggie wrap Was soooo good and they have so many vegan and gluten free options. I've only been here twice but am now a customer for life. It's such a beautiful place with great food, service and gifts. It's a must go if your in Hilo. Mahalo & Aloha Sweet Cane! read more

Great vegetarian food and ambiance. It was so refreshing to find so many good vegetarian options in Hilo. I got the Mac-nut pesto sandwich and the cane juice, both were great. They source some of their ingredients from their own farm, as I was told. They have a wide selection of smoothies which may taste strange, just a disclaimer, given the unique Hawaii ingredients. read more

Super cute cafe with counter order but nice roomy sit down. Creative and flavorful vegetarian menu won't miss the meat. Great staff.

Stopped for the kale salad and was not disappointed. It was delicious! Calm ambiance inside

The staff isn't very friendly or helpful. That to me is a deal breaker no matter how great your food is.

Normally between my class schedule I will swing into this place for a smoothie or something satisfying to eat. I was on a Daniel Fast so I needed all vegan diet and this place was wonderful for just a quick stop and/or sitting in their dining area. Highly recommended, especially if you are looking for more of a vegan dietary guide. It's absolutely delicious, whatever, you decide to order. read more

This place has a great vibe and the service was off the hook! Plus the food is amazingly tasty and healthy!

While there is a very sweet vibe, most items are so over-priced and of mediocre quality that I can't in good conscience encourage others to go. I've gone twice in the past year - once for avocado toast; then again for a beverage - and just didn't feel happy about the purchases. read more

The visit here started great. Awesome staff who explained the dishes in detail and gave some recommendations that we really looked forward to eating. That's when everything went south. I'm sure the food is really good here when it's hot and fresh. It's a pity we didn't get to experience that. The restaurant seemed busy but not terribly so. But maybe by Hawaiian standards it was? Definitely not a NYC busy that's for sure. It took 20 mins to get our drinks. The regular sugarcane juice could best be described as sugar cane flavored water with how dilute it was. The smoothie was quite good though. I do recommend those. The food. Well. 35 minutes after we ordered we still hadn't received the food and we were told that a phone order came in and they were working on that. 47 minutes after our order was placed we finally gave up and asked them to pack them to go. 5 minutes later they came out not packed but they were able to give us boxes. If you haven't had a lukewarm veggie burger let me tell you, it's about as tasty as it sounds. As I said before, piping hot fresh off the the grill it may have been good, but tepid food just wasn't very good at all. 2.5 stars mostly because the staff are friendly and there is the promise of good food. Do yourself a favor and don't go when there are other people eating there or if a phone order comes in. Or just get stuff to go and bring a puzzle or watch an episode of whatever is on Netflix on your phone while you wait. read more

My family and I loved the delicious and vegetarian concept created by Sweet Cane Cafe. We yelped "delicious sandwiches" and we got what we wanted and more. My husband was hesitant because the menu was ALL vegetarian. I got an avocado sandwich and husband got the Thai curry soup with quinoa. My boys shared a grilled cheese sandwich with chips (and they have so many unique healthy options cooked with no canola oil). Everything was delicious and we felt so satisfied and not tired like other sandwiches we've eaten. All the produce was locally grown too!! I couldn't leave without their gluten free banana bread and it was so so moist and didn't have that strange texture of other gluten free breads! My favorite part was how cute the cafe was! They had tables made of koa tree in unique shapes and sizes. There were fresh flowers on every table. They even had a live ukulele singer playing in the background. Everything felt like quintessential Hawai'i, with the relaxed and sustainable atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves healthy food and wants to feel the aloha spirit of the Big Island! Thanks for a wonderful experience!! Hope to come back soon! read more

For the longest time ever, I had this weird Açai Bowl craving. I couldnt go for awhile because I was bombarded with exams to study for but I managed to go get one after my exam last week. It was my first time coming to Sweet Cane Cafe and it was spacious, clean and somewhat modern for Hilo, haha. This cafe is located off of this one street thats sort of considered residential area so its very quiet and nothing else is around. That is one of the reasons probably why I like this place a little more. There's a good amount of parking and the sign is pretty big so its really hard to miss. I went with a friend and he asked what's popular. We went in the morning and she said they are known for their Buckwheat pancakes and Açai Bowls. I came here with the intention of getting an Açai Bowl so I ordered that with additional option of 'Omega' which is just hemp seeds, other nuts with honey for $2 extra. My friend ended up getting the samething. Total came out to $24 ish and I guess thats pretty pricey. It was more than $10 each. We sat down and got ours not too long after. It was a big bowl even though we ordered the smaller size. It had generous amount of hemp seeds with maybe 5-6 thin slices of banana. I liked my Açai Bowl but for the price though, I dont know if it's worth it. I wish it had more banana. Nonetheless, it was satisfying and I might come back to try theit buckwheat pancakes. Sounds very interesting! read more

Came here on a Saturday and it was very pleasant. This cafe is tucked away with houses which leads me to question how zoning laws work in Hilo, but I suppose I can learn to let go. They have lots of sanwhiches and almost all of them are just different variations of toast and avocado, but it's what the kids are into these days and id rather see the kids addicted to sweet cane than to cocaine. XD The smoothies are extremely good, and very frothy. We had the banana strawberry smoothie and it was very good.tgey serve them in Mason jars because that's what the cool kids do these days. The best part was the worker who helped us named Liz. She is super chill and can draw owls, but if you call her lister, she does not like that. I have been told that if you call her Lizard she will give you that kamaina discount. Later haters read more

Great place to come if you are trying to start 2021 on a healthy note. They have a ton of gluten free and vegan options.
