The restaurant is very open, clean & inviting. The mahi tacos with mango & avocado on a coconut tortilla & scoop of ubi were fresh & fantastic. The mango blueberry & mint smoothie was so good & not overwhelmingly sweet. The Moa chicken meal with a reasonable amount of chipotle aioli sauce & side of avocado & mango salsa was extremely filling. Me and my Partner we're walking around Downtown Hilo over a month ago looking for someplace to eat that was healthy and I've heard of So Juicy Hilo before so figured why not stop by and see if they were open. We open the doors and was greeted by the owner and his daughter giving us menus asking if we've been their before. Just friendly. The owner asked us if he could ask us a question and we said sure. He said if you didn't see us on the floor and never been here would you go to the back and use the bathroom. We both immediately said no. Their were 2 ladies that were standing by them and one of them was Melissa F. The reviewer who gave them a 1 star review about a month ago. She was rude to them and was intoxicated while we were standing right their they were asked to leave nicely. In no way did the term Haole or swear words come out of his daughters mouth like she accused her of. No derogatory or offensive remarks were made to the two ladies. Owner and daughter kept it very professional considering she was the one saying she was going to be talking about this place. Not in a good way. I've been their multiple times since with customers in their of all races and they had nothing but big aloha for all of them including me. Their food and drinks are such high quality and so are their characters which is why I wrote this review to not only highlight how amazing this place is but because I can't see someone slandering an establishment with me being witness. I had heard about this place about a year ago and forgot about it till now. I wish I went then, but I'm glad that I got to go recently. The best experience I ever had! Service was a 10. From the moment me and my mother-in-law walked into the door, we were greeted with so much aloha. You can tell how much passion this place has just through their service, their look of the place, and the food! The food was so ono!!! I swear, the food got more ono as we took more bites. While waiting for your food, you can get some fresh cucumber infused water that was so refreshing. The AC kept the place cool! Thats always a must in Hawaii! We will definitely be back again. Plus, this place serves healthy food that not only taste fresh but makes you feel good on the inside and out. Everything is locally sourced from our āina. We definitely left with a happy tummy! We left feeling satisfied. We decided to have a family meal here spontaneously and was thoroughly pleased by their meal and juice options. So Juicy is in the old sweet cane cafe location downtown next to Sig Zane. A locally owned and operated business with friendly staff full of aloha. We tried the kalo burger and Mana bowl both was very delicious. We got a bento special which includes a meal and a juice for $15. The kalo burger is unreal, with the aioli sauce. My husband and I are hard core meat eaters, but we loved this burger, it came with a mango and avocado salsa mix which was also delicious. This meal had a lot of flavors packed in a small container. The Mana bowl is full of your classic Hawaiian dishes (ho'io, poke, poi, lomi, and 'uala poi), cannot go wrong! The juices are our favorite. My husband and I make smoothies regularly, but the juices here are a real treat with clean and amazing flavors. We love this place, and we love their contextualized menu for our Hawaiian and local people here in Hawaii. read more

My only critique would be to heat tortilla up for a few seconds as it was a bit on the tough side. But that did not detract from the overall mea'ai onoliciousness. This was my first visit to the café with a friend. We went for lunch. I ordered the Neked Burger which is a Furikake Tofu Patty Burger, which was very good. I thought the patty was a little small (about 3" in diameter) for the price ($13). We ordered the combo with an 8 oz smoothie for $20, saving one dollar. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted with aloha. This place is clean, conveniently located, and I don't know what was going on in the kitchen but it smelled deliiiiicious. I ordered the special chicken papaya and it hit the spot. The bowl was only $7 but it was filling for me. It had the perfect amount of ginger and chicken to rice ratio which I'm picky about! I also got a smoothie which was great. If you are environmentally conscious (and you should be!), rest assured that SoJuicy Hilo is ahead of the game. They make very little waste and use recyclable take out containers and straws. No plastic trash to add to our 'aina. I am so delighted that this place exists in Hilo. We had the most shockingly rude experience here yesterday... I had heard great things and was looking forward to checking this place out. My office manager and I walked in just past noon and the place was completely empty. There was a hostess stand but no one using it. We said, "Hello?" But still nothing. I had to use the restroom and there was a hallway to the back with no signage. I figured this must be where the restrooms were and, since there was no 'do not enter' signage, I proceeded to see if I could find a restroom. Through the door was another door to the right that clearly said 'Employees only'. Past that was a door with a sign that read simply, 'restroom'. Great. No problem right? WRONG. My office manager waited outside and I heard some drama going on outside the door. Something where she apologized, said it wasn't clear and we would soon be on our way. Upon exiting I was accosted by a man who refused to give his name, only called himself the manager, shaming me, saying I should not have used their restroom, that it was for employees only, how dare I open the unmarked door, what is wrong with me, etc. His 'hostess' jumped in and started bullying too. Then they even brought other customers into it as soon as they walked through the door! He accused me of being intoxicated (we had enjoyed ONE nice cocktail next door before going to lunch, were in NO way intoxicated, the man was flat out INSULTING). She called us effing haoles as we walked out. Racist much?!? It was one of the most offensive experiences I had ever had in Hilo. read more
