Makai iced tea with jasmine green tea and butterfly pea flower tea
Edith S.

Muggy day in Hilo and after a walk around Alaska Falls, I needed to quench my first. Luckily, when driven up to the falls, we saw a few shops all lined up. Luckily, one of them was The Hive. As soon as I parked and before checking the other stores, I put my order and they had a Butterfly Pea Tea combo. I had to have it and mew I was going to Yelp It. The iced tea hit the spot, not too sweet at all. While waiting for my drink, the one employee was making a chicken salad sandwich that looked really good. Btw, all menu items are reasonably my priced. The store is super cute. If u lived here, I would spend some quiet time here either studying or reading. It wasn't noisy at all. Very comfortable. No bathroom though, you'll have to walk down to the General Store for that. Thank you Hi e for the hospitality.

Good food, fast service, kind and friendly staff. Amazing drinks. When I'm in the area I will stop by again :)

Cute little cafe near Akaka Falls with friendly service. Lots of fun drinks, cafe bites, and homemade crafts to browse while you wait. I tried "The Hawaiian" matcha with macadamia milk and pineapple syrup. My partner chose an unsweetened "Makai" tea, which was jasmine green tea with butterfly pea flower. Beautiful and refreshing drinks on a hot July day!

Beautiful cafe close to the goat dairy and akaka state falls. The lady inside the shop was working the hardest because she made drinks for a bunch of people who came in the shop before us and then still managed to make the best avocado sandwich I've ever had in my life. The combination of flavors was so good. The avocado itself was delicous and I'm Def gonna say Hawaiian avocados are the best in the world, so mild and buttery. The balsamic drizzle was so good with it and the presentation of the plate was absolutely beautiful, absolutely worth the price. The egg was perfectly cooked, a bit runny to drip down onto the bread. Our coffees were amazing as well. The honey girl was yummy. I loved this place and everything about it.

Cute little smoothie/drink shop before going to the Akaka Falls hike. My kids ordered the grilled cheese and though I'm the biggest sourdough fan my kids are not. They were thrown off by the yellow color of the bread. I took a bite of it for the benefit of the doubt and it was just an average grilled cheese to me. I ordered the chicken salad wrap and added bacon and avocado. The wrap is filled generously and is so delicious, my oldest who is a picky eater actually enjoyed it. The strawberry fields matcha was super refreshing after the hike. I'm not a matcha connoisseur but it was good enough for me.

Popped in here after going to the falls. Very cute shop with lots of little knick knacks and good coffee with specialty flavors. A good place to stop for a refreshment.

Cute find in Honomu on our way to Hilo from Akaka Falls! We had a healthy lunch - chicken salad wrap and Mediterranean wrap with bacon, plus a couple of POG Shaka Teas. These wraps were healthy, light, satisfying and ono! We loved our impromptu lunch, and the service was friendly and helpful. Check out their beautiful patio space in the back where you can also enjoy your meal. They have cute gifts in their gift shop side. Lots of locally made cute things to buy! I bookmarked this place for the next time we are in the area. Mahalo nui loa!

Avocado toast supreme.

Cute little spot with highly quality food beautifully presented. Avocado toast was served with goat cheese and balsamic vinegar balanced to perfection.

Amazing place on the way to and from Akaka Falls. Easy parking out front. The Banana Bread latte is so good, there is nothing like it! No added sugar but it tastes sweet. We also got a Don't Tell Her To Calm down which was yummy and unique with flowers on top. The service was excellent!

Spaces were full when I arrived so I parked across the street in the lot for the park. Very casual place with small menu. There is a gift shop type area for local purchases and a fruit stand on site. I ordered a smoothie and pork tacos from the menu. Tacos were good. Smoothie was refreshing. Menu selection is small but with a decent amount of variety. I would recommend for a quick bite or a smoothie stop.

The menu might be small, but it packs serious flavor. The Ono sandwich was, well, *ono*! Perfectly cooked protein, fresh veggies, and a tangy sauce that brought it all together -- simple, fresh, and unforgettable. And don't even get me started on the Kalua pork tacos -- tender, smoky, and paired with just the right amount fresh tomatoes. The setting was relaxed and rustic, with just the right amount of charm. We grabbed a shaded table outside and enjoyed our food while soaking in the peaceful surroundings. It felt like we'd discovered a local secret. If you're in the area sightseeing or taking in waterfalls, do yourself a favor and stop by. Great food, and a perfect slice of island life. This place is a true treasure! That alone meant so much. From the moment I arrived, Paul made me feel special. He greeted me with a warm smile, seated me at a beautifully decorated birthday table, and surprised me with a birthday sash and crown. It was such a thoughtful gesture that truly touched my heart and made me feel celebrated on my special day. I enjoyed fresh-squeezed orange juice and the Belgian waffle with bacon. The waffle was absolutely delicious--beautifully presented with fresh fruit and whipped cream, and honestly the best waffle I've ever had. A huge mahalo to Paul and his team for making my birthday so memorable. The food was outstanding, but it was the kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality that made this experience unforgettable. 12/10 Highly recommend!

And you need a reservation. The tiny restaurant only has three two person tables (the other party of four had two pushed together). And it is only open Wednesday thru Saturday, 7:30am- 2pm. I made the reservation for my friend's Birthday lunch by text. It is conveniently located by the farmers market, and there is plenty of free parking in the area. The space is airy, and on our visit, decorated for Easter. We were immediately greeted by Paul. The restaurant is staffed by him, and one other employee. The menu is short, and all the better for it. Paul explained the menu and gave us recommendations. I was already interested in the Pasta de Marco, which appears to be a part of a regular menu. Angel hair pasta, lightly fried, tossed with fresh veggies and pesto, and lightly toasted baguette on the side. We also had the tuna, two ways, and papaya salad. Both were perfect, incredibly fresh, all ingredients balanced, beautifully presented. Paul had us end with the Belgium waffle. I've had waffles in Belgium, and these were the best I've had. Crispy, soft, with berries, whip cream, and powdered sugar, it didn't even need the (warm!) syrup. This experience felt like being a guest in the chef's home. Paul treated all customers as a friend, he was funny, relaxed, and personable. I also personally appreciated it is the safest restaurant for me to eat at as he hates bell peppers as much as I do! The only disappointment when the meal ended. Mahalo!
