I went with a regular, but it was my first time. I absolutely loved the vegan Reuben--it was one of the best I've ever had! I hope to come back for breakfast sometime.
Really good breakfast/kombucha spot in Hilo. I especially love the local knickknacks at the front when you walk in. Cute logos, nice stickers, and good kombucha. Lots of flavors to choose from. We got there at 10:45 - breakfast ends at 11. I got the grilled fish omelette; it was fresh and flavorful! I loved the purple sweet potatoes on the side and pineapple salsa as well. It was bright and well balanced. They did however run out of GF bread. My boyfriend got the breakfast Sammy, it was a large portion, lots of pesto and kimchi on it. He couldn't eat the whole thing but thoroughly enjoyed it. You bus your own table but they bring the food to you. Friendly staff and service was great :)
Our hotel had samples of their kombucha and told us about their restaurant so we checked it out. Tried the flights and have been buying their bottles every day on the island. We also tried the grilled fish tacos and those were delicious. Definitely give them a try.
Great service, vibe and food! Had their brunch, delicious and unique! Red rice and blacken seared marlin in their bibin bop, goat cheese in a moist cheesie mushroom omelette and delicious crisp hueavos ranchero. Good drinks...mactha latte, chai latte and double espresso. Definitely would come back.
This place is a must! We are from Southern California and had a vegan in our group. We tried multiple Vegan spots. This place though! I wish it were in Southern California. I've never had anything like it. The BBQ tacos are a must! Our server was so patient with us. We wanted everything on the menu. This place is a must try.
So...this was good food, but kind of overrated. The catch of the day was pretty small, my boyfriend had more beans than fish! Also there was supposed to be a fruit bowl, was that the slice of fruit on the side or the pineapple salsa looking stuff? rancheros was fine, I did really like the pickled japapenos. This place is def cool for the kombucha variety and good flight deals, but the food left me wanting more
I fell in love with Big Island Booch from the six-pack I purchased at Costco, and I knew I had to come try it at its source. It is truly a booch lover's paradise. I will never forget the root booch, an almost unholy but scintillating combination of two of my favorite beverages of all time. What surprised me was the quality of the food. The burger was absolutely delicious. Local grass-fed beef definitely helps, but every ingredient was balanced perfectly, and the hot sauces were a perfect complement (I had to buy two bottles of Third Eye Opener on my way out!).
What a cute place to hang out and grab some dessert after a long day at the beach. The vibe was very chill. Loved the music that they were playing. Ordered a gelato, chocolate, flavored, chocolate, flavored cheesecake, and a chocolate brownie, and a little lilikoy kombucha. Everything was vegan and delicious, Service was quick and friendly, and the ambience was very chill on a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommend it!
Yummy, !!! Fresh made hummus yes please! Then on top of that kombucha flight, this girl is happy!!! So good so fresh. The kombucha is amazing. We tried all eight they had today and LOVED them until the last drop. I would be here like every week if this place was close to home. Hilo residents are super lucky! Eclectic, fun, upbeat, ambience. Friendly chill service. Had a great experience here. I will be back next I come back to see my cousin!!! Don't pass this place up.
When I say, get the kombucha flight, don't think twice! We got all eight tasters and wow! Top three: root beer, ginger and honey (seasonal)! Don't stop there. Order the hummus! It's fresh! I would recommend the kettle chips because the blue corn tortillas overpower the hummus. The hostess was kind and friendly! Tons of seating - booths, tables and high tables! Along with outside seating. I'll be back to try more of their menu! I don't think you can go wrong stopping here after a beach day!

The space was clean and had great energy, with a mix of modern touches and funky, expressive art. They also had a cool selection of merch available if you're into that sort of thing. Kombucha Flight As a big fan of kombucha, this place was perfect for me. They offered several options on tap, and we went with a flight so we could try a few. The bartender/server was incredibly thoughtful and took the time to guide us through the flavors, helping us choose a nice variety. We ended up trying the root beer, lilikoi hibiscus, and ginger kombuchas. The root beer and ginger were standouts -- bold, flavorful, and refreshing. The lilikoi hibiscus was much lighter in flavor, as expected, but still enjoyable. I appreciated being able to try a range of flavor profiles in one go. Food We ordered the cheeseburger and the fish burger. The cheeseburger was excellent -- juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. Easily one of the best I've had. My only small critique is that it was a bit too big, which made it hard to eat without making a mess. Personally, I prefer burgers that are more manageable in size, but flavor-wise, it was spot on. The fish burger was also fantastic. Perfectly cooked, balanced, and served in just the right portion. My fiancée really enjoyed it, and I'd absolutely recommend it. Other Notes The place felt clean, including the bathrooms, which is always a plus. The artwork was a bit quirky and not totally my style -- think chakras and interpretive dance -- but hey, art is subjective. If that's your vibe, you'll love it. If not, just focus on the kombucha and the food, because both are worth it. Final Thoughts I'd give The Booch Bar a strong 4.5 out of 5 stars. Great drinks, thoughtful service, delicious food, and a fun, relaxed environment. I'd definitely go back -- especially for another kombucha flight and that fish burger.

The salad was above-average. PRICE: the booch bar is slightly pricier than other order-at-the-counter establishments ($30ish per person maybe) but still offers good value for this price with the atmosphere. PARKING: I parked on the street 2 blocks away. It wasn't too difficult to find a spot those there weren't so many open. AMBIANCE: the silverware, plates, tables, etc are all upscale and help to make Booch Bar feel fancy despite being order-at-the-counter.

From the moment we walked in, we had a wonderful experience. The cashier was incredibly knowledgeable and kind, offering great recommendations when we asked. I also appreciated that she mentioned they have smoothies after my kids asked for one, I hadn't even realized they offered them! The food was absolutely amazing. The beet salad was delicious, and the seared tuna on top was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right--tender without being too firm. The fish burger was also outstanding, and the bánh mì was just as delicious. I've been buying their Jun kombucha from the store for a while and have always loved it, but finally dining here made me appreciate this place even more. Everything we tried exceeded our expectations. I'll definitely be coming back every time I'm in Hilo! read more
We had an amazing vegan dish here for our little brunch we did in mid morning earlier today. We saw this restaurant yesterday when we were browsing Hilo a few nights ago. We didn't think of anything when we saw it the first time. By just looking at the name of it though, my immediate reaction was, "Is this a kombuchas bar??" Well, it is but it's not just kombuchas they serve; it's more than that. The breakfast/brunch dishes they serve (although they don't have a huge selection) are quite diverse. I do incorporate a lot of vegetarian/vegan diet into my daily meal routine so when I saw the Verdant Vegan I simply couldn't skip it. As my daughter and I usually split a plate when we dine together she agreed to this option of mine. Glad we did. This plate has all sorts of goodness included in it. Sautéed veggies, house-made lentil walnut chorizo, ginger beet kraut, fire-roasted jalapeno cashew crema, fire-roasted tomato salsa, and it's topped it off with sprouts. This whole thing comes with either purple sweet potato home fries or red rice (which we went with the purple sweet potato fries and ended up getting a side red rice. We also got the side kimchi and one egg sunny side up.) And we shared a 16oz Ceremonial Matcha latte as well. This vegan plate is way more than vegan. It's mighty as hell. For those who are still not sure about vegan options will definitely second guess it for something that isn't vegan/vegetarian. It's truly nutrition packed in so many different ways. If I lived close to this cafe, I would eat here once a week to enjoy this delightful meal. I am not kidding. I enjoyed the matcha latte very much although my daughter rated it as "okay". She likes her matcha in a very particular way so it unfortunately didn't impress her. This is not to say that she disliked it. She said it wasn't bad either. This place is a "walk in, order upfront, pick a table where you want to sit and one of the staff will bring your food to you" style cafe. Water is self-served. Once you are done with your meal you'll put your dirty dishes in the designated tub. I like this efficient style of serving food. This place has great vibes as well. A bit hippie-ish where bright dark colors such as purple and red are incorporated into the interior. There is even a stage where bands perform on certain days/times. Quite cool-looking. If you are visiting Hilo soon then put this place on your "must visit" restaurant list. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and quality food will entertain you for sure. read more
Truly delicious kombucha on tap! I think i got the ginger turmeric and it was amazing. I also got the huevos rancheros for brunch and it was DELICIOUS. Highly recommend. Very nice chill morning plenty of street parking. read more

We went to Booch Bar for breakfast. We placed our order upon entering and find our own table. The food is good. I had the Hawaiian Mushroom Omelette with Sweet Potato and my husband had the Grilled Wild Hawaiian Fish with Toast. Highly recommended. We love the live music while eating breakfast. Im giving 4 stars only because we had to clean the table ourselves. 15% tip given to the food server. read more

We weren't really greeted as we walked in & were a little unsure if it was a counter order & sit down type of place or a sit down & be served. Found a pile of menus on the side & then seen the "order here" sign by the cashier. Blackened fish tacos & a dready Mary were ordered. It's a "bus your own table" type of place. We didn't mind! Food & drinks served quickly, looked delicious. Interesting clover sprouts on the tacos gave a good crunch. Could've used more sauce, portions were plentiful. Pineapple jalapeño salsa was just the right amount of spicy and sweet. The Bloody Mary was too peppery for my liking. Could've used a better kick of zest. Cool setting, lots of seating, neat artwork. read more

Located on the Calvin Street two shops down from WaiAnuenue. Lots of indoor seating AND a few tables outside along the covered walkway. Here you can grab a tasty lunch or breakfast with booch on tap or bottled to go. They also have very cute shirts for humans and dogs. read more

This place has good recommendations, but I was not impressed with the food or drink. I had ordered the fish tacos and they were so bland! This is pretty much a self serve place, the only thing they do here is take your order, then deliver it to you. You have to get your own silverware, condiments, water and even salt and pepper. For the price, not worth it. I also ordered a Mai tai, but when it came it looked and tasted like a margarita. I asked 2 different people and they both said it was a Mai tai. Not any I've ever had. All in all, I wouldn't go back to this place. Ended up walking a block away and ordering a real Mai tai. read more

The service was quick n friendly, but they had run out of fresh catch by like 2:00 pm. Opted for the last fresh catch n a blackened chicken taco. The pineapple salsa was great n had good heat, the beans and rice were also tasty. The chicken was super duper dry. The kombucha was really mild and very tasty we had the mango n the lilikoi. read more

I went there for breakfast with my girlfriend and despite being quite empty the food took a little over 20 minutes. The red rice was bad . The Denver omelette I got was just dry and bland. 20 dollar breakfast and I would prefer a quicker cheaper breakfast omelette from anywhere else. If you're local and visiting Hilo you will NOT like this food. This place is for tourists. On the plus side the matcha latte was descent and my girlfriend liked her home style sweet potato's and her fish omelette . I however would never eat here again. read more

This was one of my favorite places I went to on the big island ! Amazing kombucha and a great ambience to the place. I came here twice during the stay and I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of my sandwich I got. DELICIOUS. I'm so glad I got to go here and I recommend this place when visiting Hilo! read more

Dropped in for a little breakfast. Rather eclectic but boy were we surprised with the quality of food. No lines and the service was top notch. Really enjoyed the vegan chorizo breakfast tacos and my wife enjoyed her mushroom omelette and our friend devoured her sourdough French toast. Love the reggae background music and vibe of this place. If you are looking for something off the beaten path, this is it and you not be disappointed. read more

We tried this restaurant twice and loved a couple of dishes! The ambiance is decent and service is quick, the staff is friendly as well! We first tried their basil bananza bowl (recommend asking them to make the smoothie a bowl) and it was so delicious- this is a must try and I must say very different from other acai/smoothie bowls you get everywhere. The passionate dragon in our second try was good not great. The vegan taco salad was very flavorful and we really enjoyed it. One thing we realised that a lot of dishes felt the same in the ingredients so we didn't order a multiple savory items but went food hopping that night. :) Food is great, but its pretty expensive :) All their sauces were great - I must say worth the buy. We'd also bought one of their beer - mango, lilikoi and guava and trust me it tasted as interesting as it sounds! Loads of tables in the restaurant and parking easily available on the street. Easily my favorite spot for vegan food on the Big Island. My husband and I are equally obsessed. It's a super chill spot that is often quite busy with delicious options for vegans and non-vegans alike. Recommendations: Tempeh BLTA, vegan tacos, Caesar salad, and the almond cacao brownie!!! I can't wait to go back. read more
