Lunch Musubi menu
Macy H.

Stopped by while walking around downtown for some takeout. We got a double order of the pork musubi and Korean marinated chicken musubi. Our order came out pretty quickly, so we were in and out. The restaurant itself is small, but is clean and looks much more modern than a lot of other restaurants in the area. I like bbq sauce so I thought the pork Musubi could have used a little more sauce but my husband, who doesn't care much for saucy things, thought it was perfect. The musubis by themselves were both tasty and a nice change from the traditional spam Musubi. Both musubi's came with a side of kim chee, so the fattiness of the meat plus the acid of the kim chee was *chefs kiss* perfection. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely be going back for more.

Food was excellent. Warm musubi and house made chips with pineapple salsa. Clean and cute!

Excellent. I had the loco moco and it hit the spot. Waiter was very kind. Chef came out to see how I liked the meal. I'd like to go back tomorrow and get a few musubi.

Awesome food. Wayne was honest and gave great costumer service. We will come back. We will be back.

Chicken musubi

Service was great but the food was underwhelming. I can get a similar musubi from the grocery store. They say they're "beast size" yet there's barely any meat inside. We got the spam, the chicken and the pork and all were just ok. The breakfast plate was also expensive for what it was. I wouldn't come back.

So good! Walking by, we stopped here for an easy lunch. Tried the Supreme & Pork Musubis. The food was so good. Great service. Beautiful waterfront view.

This is my boyfriend and I's first time coming to Hilo and we both wanted to try Musubi. I am vegan and both the waitress and chef were extremely kind and accommodating in checking and letting me know what was available for me to eat and even offering certain accommodations to me; it's all i could honestly ask for when I go out to eat. The food was delicious aswell and a great first introduction to a native Hawaiian food, makes me wish I lived here so I could come here all the time cause it would honestly be one of my go to spots. I hope you guys sell merchandise like stickers and stuff online so I can support!

Service was amazing. Ambiance was top notch. Definitely took me aback because title of the restaurant. Thought it'd be a ordinary place for musubis! Definitely not ordinary and the food has some love in it for sure. Feels homemade and just over all a very welcoming spot. Had the pot roast with curry. The portion was perfect. Perfect amount of ingredients. Meat was very tender and veggies had a good snap but still tender as well. Impressed by how fluffy the rice was. Musubis are great! Rice was fluffy as well and my favorite had to be the supreme. It was spicy, sweet and each bite was perfect. Will be coming again! Mahalos for the amazing service and for making us feel at home.

We ordered the pork musubi, Korean chicken, and Hawaiian omelette. All were super great! Thank you. Looking forward to trying this place out for dinner one day.

New restaurant. French inspired. Owners are very nice. Everything was very tasty! Open at 5pm!

Double Beast Size Supreme Spam Musubi

As my wife and I stolled by the shops on Kamehameha Avenue along the Hilo bayfront, I stopped to chuckle over the name of a tiny restaurant, "Musubeast Beastro," inventively letting you know that this place specializes in musubi, the snack made of a piece of spam or other meat sanwiched between blocks of rice and wrapped in dried seaweed. Okay, maybe visitors to Hawaii aren't familiar with musubi, but it's familiar fare here in Hawaii. We stopped in a couple of bookstores, wandered through an art gallery, visited the Tsunami Museum, and then decided we would stop for lunch at Musubeast. When we sat down, I told the server that they get my award for the best business name among all those we saw today! She laughed, and said they had only been open about a month (we ate their in mid-December). Musubeast proved to be a very good choice. The place was small, only a few tables, but comfortable. We watched several families come in with young children and depart with bags of musubi treats, apparently return customers. The unusual menu features breakfast and lunch selections, each list two typed pages. We decided to split a "Double Beast Size Supreme Spam Musubi, "Grilled Spam served on a bed of rice with Teriyaki Sauce and Spicy Aioli & Furukaki wrpped in Nori (seaweed)." A mini would have cost just $5.95, but the full Beast was $8.95. When we checked out, we discovered they gave us a 10% Kamaaina special as Hawaii residents. Our Musubeast arrived beautifully presented, and excellently prepared. It was, as we say in Hawaii, ono! Delicious. Enough for two oldsters. Your experience may vary. The staff were very nice, and trying very hard. If we lived here in Hilo, we would be among those returning customers, no doubt! I hope they make it. They deserve it. .

We didn't think of anything when we saw it the first time. By just looking at the name of it though, my immediate reaction was, "Is this a kombuchas bar??" Well, it is but it's not just kombuchas they serve; it's more than that. The breakfast/brunch dishes they serve (although they don't have a huge selection) are quite diverse. I do incorporate a lot of vegetarian/vegan diet into my daily meal routine so when I saw the Verdant Vegan I simply couldn't skip it. As my daughter and I usually split a plate when we dine together she agreed to this option of mine. Glad we did. This plate has all sorts of goodness included in it. Sautéed veggies, house-made lentil walnut chorizo, ginger beet kraut, fire-roasted jalapeno cashew crema, fire-roasted tomato salsa, and it's topped it off with sprouts. This whole thing comes with either purple sweet potato home fries or red rice (which we went with the purple sweet potato fries and ended up getting a side red rice. We also got the side kimchi and one egg sunny side up.) And we shared a 16oz Ceremonial Matcha latte as well. This vegan plate is way more than vegan. It's mighty as hell. For those who are still not sure about vegan options will definitely second guess it for something that isn't vegan/vegetarian. It's truly nutrition packed in so many different ways. If I lived close to this cafe, I would eat here once a week to enjoy this delightful meal. I am not kidding. I enjoyed the matcha latte very much although my daughter rated it as "okay". She likes her matcha in a very particular way so it unfortunately didn't impress her. This is not to say that she disliked it. She said it wasn't bad either. This place is a "walk in, order upfront, pick a table where you want to sit and one of the staff will bring your food to you" style cafe. Water is self-served. Once you are done with your meal you'll put your dirty dishes in the designated tub. I like this efficient style of serving food. This place has great vibes as well. A bit hippie-ish where bright dark colors such as purple and red are incorporated into the interior. There is even a stage where bands perform on certain days/times. Quite cool-looking. If you are visiting Hilo soon then put this place on your "must visit" restaurant list. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and quality food will entertain you for sure.

We were most impressed by the fact that the waitress made sure to split our Hilo local plate into two plates to make it much easier to share! We almost thought we had received two orders because of how well-plated they were. - Poke tower (8/10): Solid choice for an appetizer! There were ample portions of poke, and the flavors were nice. Not a super stand out dish though. - Hilo local plate (9.5/10): If you want to taste a wide range of Hawaiian cuisine in one dish, I would highly recommend getting this one! The Kalbi ribs were sooo good! They were juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The Kalua pork was pretty good, and both meats paired well with the rice which had an interesting savory haupia sauce drizzled on it. The mango chili slaw and pineapple salsa added a nice tang to balance everything out. - Triple lilikoi pie (5/10): Wayyy too sweet and sugary for our liking, and you can barely taste the lilikoi flavor. We ended up just picking at the graham cracker crust and couldn't finish the rest. It seemed like one of those desserts that are premade unfortunately, and we wish we hadn't ordered this dessert.

This past Saturday we somehow scored the last parking stall and got sat relatively fast which we were surprised at. The Employees were all extremely kind and showed so much aloha but after we got our drinks and put our order in, it took our party over an hour and a half to get our food!! And it wasn't only our table, almost every single table around us that we knew sat way before us was still waiting for their food! Our lovely Server took our order and we never saw her again! all the foods were dropped by the other Employees in the black shirt. Idk if the kitchen was extremely short staffed and Aunty went in the back to help cook. We have no idea. I was really amazed that no one lost their patience.. Customer or Staff. WE all looked miserable together. The Host definitely should have communicated with people trying to put their names down that they are very tied up and give an estimated time the cooks are cranking out orders. A lot of people have an agenda. There's tournaments, parties, tours happening and can't afford to just waste 1 1/2- 2 hours sitting in a restaurant. Plus, you may wanna double check your bill. We had two tables side by side but sis merged another random table into our bill and luckily my brother caught it bc it was an extra $80 we almost paid,
