Fish and chips

This place is definitely a good option if you're in the area. Lots of menu options that were solid and appeal to everyone. Good beer/drink selection. The quality didn't quite match up with pricing I feel- depending on what you order. I was happy with my fish and chips. But the Caesar salad with $6 added shrimp only came with 3 small shrimp which was sad.

Amazing!! My daughter and I were both impressed with the ample parking. We made reservations for dinner and when we arrived we were immediately greeted by some of the most friendly staff and were seated immediately. Lots of seating so if you have a large family, no problem. I really did enjoy the open air design of the restaurant. We had the Kalua Pork wontons and the Fresh Ahi Poke to start. Superb!! When it came to dinner we had the Alfredo Pasta with a Blackened Ahi and a Thai Coconut Curry with Shrimp. Let's just say we'll be back for dessert and left completely satisfied. We had a great waitress but unfortunately we didn't get her name. Truly happy with the service.

Good food, nice ambiance, really good service. Called for reservations for 7:30 on a Friday night and got a 7:40 reservation. This while calling at 7:05 p.m. It is nice open air seating, a bit on the loud side but I didn't mind. One thing that caught me off guard was the drink price. Menu says Bulleit rye is $10. Not bad. I ordered it with an old fashioned; cost ... $20! So if my math is correct, $10 for the liquor and $10 to make it into a drink. Seems a bit ridiculous. Next time, I will get the price of my drink order first! I've been a patron of the original Kaleo's for many years but haven't been back to this area since Covid. I would return but stick to a beer next time.

Crispy pork belly, pork wonton

Thursday evening, late night snack, started off with a couple appetizers, crispy side pork. What a delicious vinegary soy onion sauce. Next was the Kalua pork wontons . I had a glass of Cabernet, the bacon blue cheeseburger with french fries. Service is always excellent live music is played on Friday Saturday Sunday so returning tonight great place to eat.

Such a vibe to be here. Friendly staff that makes you feel welcomed. Live hawaiian music and the nice beautiful breeze and scattered showers sets the entire mood. We visited family here in Hilo and wanted a nice dinner . It did not disappoint. We got the kalbi, Ceasars salad, poke and wings. Everything was great. Will definitely be back again on our next visit. The kids really enjoyed the lava cake but I was too full for dessert, maybe next time. Lots of parking and service was fast and friendly.

Coconut shrimp! To die for!

The food and Hawaiian atmosphere along with the friendly staff is worth a visit! The seating is an outside atmosphere and there is music on the weekends. Although - unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to listen to the band. The food is definitely comfort food, yummy and big plates! The downside is that the restaurant is a bit on the pricey side. Be that as it may, We will definitely be back.

Famous Kaleo's burger

Party of 3 having lunch here and so glad we made reservations as it was packed! I got the Kaleo's burger and it was amazing! Cooked perfectly medium and I chose fries for my side. It was nice and crispy on the outside but soft inside. Couldn't leave without having the banana spring rolls for dessert and lilikoi cheesecake, both yummy! Our waiter Brennan was very polite and attentive. Would definitely return with reservations made

Mai tai

The staff were chipper amd helpful. The coconut shrimp were lovely, guava ribs were super tender, the blackened Mahi sandwich was pretty dry. When you ordered the coconut crusted mahi they were thicker pieces. Great Mai Tai and lilokoi margarita options from the bar.

Fantastic evening dinner and drinks!

Great drinks and food when they are open. Do not be surprised when they close for private functions.

While they appear to be a casual, local, hippy establishment (and they are). The food and wait is worth every penny, (and pennies are more valuable now). You will hear live music when you approach building. It's bright and colorful, open air and you can feel your inner artist being inspired. The place is packed but you find a seat and listen to the laughter, singing, and sizzles from the kitchen. It's small and bundles of fruit seam to just be around everywhere. Your server gives you a menu and you think. "Oh wow! That's a bit pricy." But you're all in. Considering this place is proud of its farm to table reputation. Yes, nothing goes to waist here and it as fresh as you can possibly get. So you order and wait. And you wait, and you wait. Finally the plate arrives and it's beautiful. A paradise of fruit, veggie filled omelet and some things you're not sure if you can eat them or if it's just decoration. (You can eat them) Have you ever heard of a cranberry hibiscus? I'm not a fan of salsa with my eggs but they make their own from scratch and they also sell it. So I have to at least try it. "What is in this! Magic?" Before you know it a whole days life experience has just happened. There were ups, there were downs, and surprises. Not just from the food but the whole surroundings. Let's just say nothing was left on the plate and I have stories to tell. Our server was the sweetest older lady who you can tell just loved her job and people. In fact all the workers were just rays of sunshine and smiles. Did I just have breakfast or walk into a magical world where time stood still and surrounded me in song and colors. I swear I don't do substances, it's just that good.

I'm not even exaggerating when I say this was one of the best things I've ever eaten. They filled…read moremy foodie heart with joy. The ambience was so cute as well. This woman with the coolest dreads I've ever seen was singing. There was art all over the walls. And my server (David) was so so sweet and joyous. This is my fav restaurant in Hawaii and I def recommend checking them out!! They also have a farm tour so I will definitely be back to check that out next time. :)

We tried the Bomboloni and Nutella Coconut croissant during our initial visit. The Bomboloni reminds me of a malasada but I enjoyed the creamy filling of this so much more. We ended up going back on our last day and tried some of the savory options - the goat cheese pesto croissant and then sausage roll were standouts for us. Enjoyed this place so much we hardly took pictures, but everyone should add this as a stop especially if visiting Volcano National Park!

In fact, except Madam Pele does NOT necessarily keep to the same schedule as the bakery, would try to time my Volcano drives to coincide with Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! Hahah. Today got a sampling of Mediterranean scones (savory with olives and delicious seasonings), croissants, danish, and my favorite... the ube cruffin. Holy Moly Batman... that one item was worth the drive alone! Since there really wasn't any real estate in our tummies, we split everything 3 ways... over the course of the next few hours. Two weeks later, still thinking about that ube cruffin! Would definitely do a repeat on that as well as the Medeterranean scones while trying other items. And as the nice couple infront of us in line mentioned, will have to return for the sister deli across the parking lot. Heard it was featured in Guy Hagi's food vlog. And if its good enough for Guy Hagi its where I want to be my next mealtime!
