A condiment, utensil, napkin, and water station is positioned on the side against the wall. The water container's ice had melted away. Little condensation remained outside the jug. My husband asked the woman at the counter is they were making any more new donuts in the back. She said yes, walked to the back, and returned with a tray filled with a variety of donuts. I got s'mores flavor and he got a couple strawberry ones and something else. Unfortunately, I didn't love my donut. The glaze was too sweet for my liking and I'd prefer the graham crackers to be crumbed rather than big chunks. The chunk texture competed with the softness of the donut. This locally owned shop serves large popovers filled with delicious fillings. It is not a fancy location or area but this casual eatery is a breath of fresh air. Popover is a cafe nestled in what looks like a pretty industrial area. I almost mistook it for a car parts store, based on the facade. But Yelp had some great reviews, so off I went. First, the service is lovely, and I'm a huge fan of locally owned businesses! You can tell they care about their shop. I do wish I could give it a higher rating, but for me, the experience was just not what I was hoping for. The coffee was off, and especially since I've had amazing coffee my entire time so far in Hawaii, I was pretty disappointed by this brew. And then my pastry was also nothing to write home about. Oh my gosh.... Everything here was sooo good! We came in for brunch all had sandwiches. I got the Malibu... it was impressively delicious and bigger than expected. The sandwiches are a bit messy, but worth it! I grabbed a couple cookies on my way out; snickerdoodle and peanut butter. Both cookies were enormous and some of the best cookies I've had in a long time! Prices were reasonable, service was fast and friendly. Huge fan of Popover! We always make it a point to stop by every time we're in Hilo. We came by after an earlier flight in, straight from the airport.
