I've been seeing Cupcakes Boom a lot on my Instagram feed, and I really wanted to give it a try. Came in on a Saturday morning before 8am, and it was fairly empty inside. There were lots of treats out, including discounted pastries from the day prior. There was ample parking in the lot, including designated stalls for Cupcakes Boom customers. The shop is very clean with seating inside. I got the cookie butter chai latte. The chai flavor was good, but man this drink was sweet! I generally have a sweet tooth, but even this drink was way too sweet for me. I don't know what I was thinking getting an already sweet drink and adding cold foam on top. That was definitely on me though, and I need to come back to try the same drink less sweetened without the cold foam. Overall, I could tell the drink had good flavor, but it was just really sweet. read more

Macaron review: I stumbled across this place while having dinner in the area, unfortunately it was not the experience I hoped for. Upon visiting there wasn't a single cake for sale (sold out maybe?), only macaron sandwich cookies. I like macarons so I bought 6 different flavors. I think Ube and fruity pebbles were the best. However, I did find the filling in the macarons to be sickly sweet, almost inedible. My partner and I took turns scraping out the filling and just eating the cookies. I personally would not go back for the macarons because how overly sweet they were, but maybe their cakes are better. Just something to keep in mind. Such a cute place! I love this cupcake saloon. They also have macaroons in generous sizes. Right next to the candy factory too. Team was extremely helpful to help us out and answered all our questions. We tried the red velvet, the Lilikoi, and the strawberry cupcake, they were amazing. The texture and the cream reminds me of Susie's cakes, but with more flavor. We also ordered chai, matcha, and a tea latte, also yummy, but next time I'll ask for a less sweet version, yes we will be back for sure. read more

This is a business that I'm happy to frequent because of quality products and great service. Cupcakes, Boom! is local-owned, woman-owned, and Kanaka-owned (Native Hawaiian), and their products and service are AMAZING! I love the fun colors and designs, and the shop is very clean. I tried a no-bake ube cheesecake in a cup. This dessert uses monk fruit to sweeten, and I loved the thick and creamy texture. My dad got a macaron, which was delicious too. So many interesting flavors to try! My cousin got an apple pie chai, which I was cautious of because it was after 7pm, and I can't handle much caffeine. But WOW! Ordered stuffed cookies for delivery since I'm on Oahu. Cookies arrived fresh and delicious. 2 were a little smooshed, but they are fragile and I expected they might be. Still, I was impressed at how well the did hold up! I got 2 cookies and cream, because who doesn't love cookies with their cookie? Also smores and chantilly, which were both good, but if I have to choose one, it's hands down cookies and cream! 5 star purely for experience. Came in for 1 cupcake for my son. He wanted the red velvet but asked for a strawberry on top. Stumbled across this place on my last day in Hawaii while waiting for my table at Hawaiian Style Cafe across the lot (which you should also go to), and I am so happy I found it! The whole storefront is small but still roomy for quite a bit of people, and the pink walls and decor made it feel sweet and charming. I was greeted by Nicole (I hope that's the name of the nice lady who helped me, I forgot to ask on my way out but that's the name on the receipt) who was helping another customer in front of me first, and when it came to my turn, she was very kind and patient with me as she guided me on how to order as well as the popular/favorite flavors. The macarons I chose were Fruity Pebbles, Chantilly, Cookie Monster, and Cap'n Crunch - she was also nice enough to give me two Cookie Monsters because they were a bit small that day! I also had to try the Nutella Cheesecake cupcake, which was one of her favorites, and the Dubai stuffed chocolate chip cookie. I ate them throughout the day and they were so yummy! I didn't get one, but there are also hand crafted drinks, too :) It was nice being rung up at the end because she's very sweet and loves to hold a small conversation, I wish I had one in San Diego because I would visit all the time with friends and family!!! The outside of the Bakery was giving Charlie & The Chocolate Factory with more color and variety which was very appealing to the eyes and the It Factor This Bakery had an assortment of snacks, macaroons, cookies, stuffed cookies, cheesecakes and the best of them all CUPCAKES BOOM I was greeted by one of the girls pleasantly and asked her "what do you recommend?" , she then stated "Our macaroons and cupcakes are the best choices!". Long story short, this Bakery has been in business for yearsss and I happen to be one of their new customer's on their 10th Year Anniversary!!! As a courtesy she advised me that "Everything will be FREEEE tonight" I was baffled because I haven't had this happen to me ever in my life. I then congratulated the business on the tenure and the how successful they are! I also left a generous tip to show my token of appreciation ! Holy heck! These guys are amazing! Everyone we met there was so kind and fun but Henna especially was incredible! She took amazing care of us, treated us like long lost friends and made every visit feel special! My husband is an ube enthusiast (total understatement) and they totally bonded over ube! I loved that they still sold their broken macaroons at a cheaper price - how clever! We picked up some ramen dishes next door to this place, and saw their display of beautiful cupcakes. It grabbed our attention, and immediately ordered four: UBE, two STRAWBERRY of some sort, and I forgot the other one. I think it was Dulce de Leche, but I could be wrong. That's how insignificant the reminiscence it left in my brain. The cupcakes were very pretty, no doubt! That's why we bought it in the first place. However, they weren't fresh. All were dry, and had a stale taste. Not only that, you can totally tell that they were at least a day old, sitting on their display cupboard because the frosting was hard on the surface.
