Found on the corner of a little strip mall. Little shop with fresh dipped chocolates, cookies and home made guri guri. They also have a few gifts to purchase like stuffed animals or orchids.

I've been going to cvs to but their macadamia snowball delights for years! I never new there was a store in Hilo. Now I can get it directly from the store and they have a punch card for $5 off too! Plus they give military discount. I loved this store. Going to try the short bread passion fruit today.

    Check out all the goodies

My first visit to...BIG ISLAND DELIGHTS was...DE-light-FUL! As I walked in, I couldn't believe the amount of goodies surrounded this little shop! Homemade treats by the GALORE! Cookies, cookies dipped in chocolate, party mixes, li-hing candies, heart shaped arare , chocolate candies, gift baskets, bags, lunch bags and so many more. I went CRA..zy here! Lol...literally I had to tell myself to calm down. I wanted to bring home everything, but of course it would be a hefty baggage fee! WARNING...DO*NOT come here hungry! Or else, you are going to be in big trouble! We ended up buying: omiyage for family, for friends and for ourselves *PASSION FRUIT SHORTBREAD COOKIES-individually wrapped in a nice gift box. The cookies were crunchy, buttery, not so sweet and a hint of tartness. Yummy...I enjoyed this cookie! #ASSORTMENT of CHOCOLATE DIPPED SHORTBREAD- individually wrapped in a nice gift box. *CHOCOLATE MACADEMIA NUT CRISP - a generous amount of candy in a nice cellophane gift bag. #CRANBERRY OATMEAL CRUNCH DELIGHT- just the right amount for one person. *LI-HING MANGO-a little baggie for one sitting. #CHOCOLATE DIPPED FORTUNE COOKIES-individually gift wrapped large fortune cookie partially dipped in dark chocolate with rainbow sprinkles. Everything here was beautifully presented and nicely gifted wrapped! Ready to go...ready to give away to others! They will also offer to box your chocolate dipped fortune cookies for travel so it doesn't get smashed. Customer service here is amazing! So, if you are looking for omiyage to bring home to family, friends or for yourselves, check out BID! You'll thank me for that!

Some of the best treats money can buy, make huge points with your kids and grab a gigantic fortune cookie to share! Super nice and helpful people running it, turned us on to a local nearby beach to go see turtles

*Big Island Delights located right off the main road is not your Big Island Candies. This small shop carries less inventory, but has a lot more local flair to the items they sell. We always try to stop in and pick up some items to munch on and to bring back with us. I know that they have a store on Oahu at the Ward Centre and have purchased goodies from there also, but just something draws us back to the original location. Marlin jerky, Party Mix, Chocolate dipped macadamia biscotti and Chocolate shortbread cookies were just some of the things we grabbed..."Ono stuff!" *Always another great stop when in Hilo* *Parking available in front of store. ****Hours**** Mon - Fri 9am to 5pm Saturday 9am-3pm Closed on Sundays

Short review- The party mix and snowball delights are dangerously good. The location is conveniently located near the Hilo airport.

Picked up some snacks from BID since they no longer have a store in Honolulu. Picked up our favorite trail mix and bagel twist.

Why not get some Big Island Delights products instead of the same stuff all the time. You won't be disappointed.

A more affordable cookie option compared to Big Island Candies that won't break your bank as badly.

But as soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the wonderful staff, and the whole vibe completely changed. Inside, the space is bright, inviting, and thoughtfully set up. We were offered samples of their Kona coffee along with a couple of treats of the day, which was such a nice touch. As you walk around, you can actually watch them making their delicious goodies, which makes the experience even more fun and tempting. The shop was beautifully decorated for the upcoming Easter holiday, and they also had some really lovely gift boxes--perfect if you're looking to bring something home for family or friends. There's also a small area where you can grab drinks (and possibly ice cream too). I ordered a green tea latte, and it was absolutely wonderful. Overall, such a cozy, welcoming spot with great treats and friendly service. Definitely worth stopping by--whether you're craving something sweet or looking to pick up a thoughtful gift!

I'm also glad I happened to be a couple blocks away at that time, cause it would've stunk if I'd missed out! They have a whole range of great chocolates, from 55-90 percent that were all great, a fantastic matcha chocolate, great dried fruit chocolates, and one very good, *very* spicy dark chocolate (I loved it enough to buy a bar, but much more so than most pepper chocolates I've had, it does *not* play around.) Definitely also loved that they had samples of basically everything they sell. Also loved, we learned, it was actually the chocolatier himself running the shop when we were there, so all our questions were being answered directly from the source. It also worked out in that they didn't actually *have* any bars of the spicy chocolate out, as he'd just made a new batch and hadn't packaged them yet, so when he learned we were leaving the next day, he pressed one for me right then and there! How's that for great service?

Since my time away, they have beautifully renovated the interior to have a sit-down booth area. I love the abundance of nene decor honoring our state bird, along with high quality chocolates made in Hawaii. We had the horchata 50% milk chocolate bar, and I don't have a picture because we devoured it in one sitting! Overall, Puna Chocolate Co. is an elegant, delightful, and elevated experience that rivals big names like Big Island Candies and Dandelion Chocolates in San Francisco. The espresso was strong, not overwhelmingly bitter, and had a good consistency to it. While sitting at the bar, I noticed that they had a Day Drink menu with a bunch of coffee and chocolate cocktails, including an espresso martini and a cacao old fashioned. For $14 and $13 respectively, these seemed like very reasonable prices. Definitely something I'll check out on my next visit. On the right side of the store is a gift shop, while the left side has a bunch of seating for patrons. I noticed there were a few people here with their laptops out, so I can only assume it's also a good place to work as well. The store seemed pretty quiet, street parking outside was easy, and the staff I interacted with here was friendly. Puna Chocolate Company is a good rest spot to stop by to escape from the busyness of Downtown Hilo.

I got the Furkaki fish with green salad. If i was basing my rating only on this dish, I'd give it 5 stars. Yum! It was piping hot and it came with a thousand island dressing that i think was home made and it was way better on the fish than the tartar sauce. So i ate the salad and the fish together with that sauce. Amazing! My husband had the chicken with curry on it. This was good, but not great. The Chicken was sliced too thin so there was more breading than chicken. And there wasn't quite enough curry sauce on top of it to really get a good curry flavor. There was a lot of it so my husband didn't even eat all of it. He got the Ube side and it was really interesting for someone not from Hawaii. But I really liked it. More about the place: it's a little market and they sell all kinds of dried fruit and other spices and things. The have a counter in the back you order at. It took a bit to make the food, but it was fresh! The seating area is outside and they have picnic tables with umbrellas. We ended up taking it to eat at the beach. If I'm ever back in Hilo, I would definitely go back for the fish!
